I'm looking for an engine shop in the LA area, I want to use Rebbello Racing but San francisco is a little to far from Las Vegas where i'm at.
  3. thanks for the input guys.
  4. I'm wondering what my engine might be worth. It's in my 1972 240Z it runs very strong and was built for use at the ThunderHill raceway in Ca. as a student trainer. It has 3 carbs. It uses/ leaks no oil nor does it blow smoke. It runs great but I'm going to a newer Nissan turbo engine. I'd be selling it with the 4 speed trans attached. I have no idea of the value can anyone help me? It would be a turn key engine with elec ing. headers all belts, pulleys etc.
  5. I'm so glad all is well with you and your Z. I taught defensive driving classes in the Army for many years, thought I'd seen it all, but still can't believe how lucky I too have been on the roadways lately.

I'm not sure if the rubber that I received from Black Dragon is correct for my 1972 240Z. At present I don't have the correct glass in my rear hatch, what I have is a piece of fitted plexiglass with a regtanular rubber seal. (I have a used glass to install on hand). The rubber seal that I received has two 90 degree corners. If laid on the floor it looks like the letter D. Does this sound like the correct seal to you guys that have replaced your rear hatch glass seals or should it be formed in a regtanular form with four 90 degree corners? Thanks in advance.
  8. I did the same thing some 40 yrears ago with my son and I to this day still regret making the mistake of yelling at him when he handed me the wrong tools etc. Please be patient with your son and it will be something to remember always!

Tony said the the drama between the teams was real while some of what we saw was not, like the time the one team went shopping for fireworks, that was because they had a four hour break because of the film crew. He did say that they had a blast but could have no contact with home or use of a computer for three weeks.

  17. I had the same problem with my 2002 Dodge van the dealership found that my ECU (brain box) was causing the problem and replaced it at no charge. It has been fine every since then.
  18. It was good talking to you on the phone and thanks for the fast reply Mike. If I can help please let me know. I don't know where Robs company is located but it looks like a good shop as he has a lot of 240Z fab parts. For you other guys interested he can be found at www.showcars-bodyparts.com/240z.html
  19. Hi Mike , I too am very interested in getting a hood vent for my Z. Here is a number for a fabricator that can do the work-905-857-6345, his name is Rob and I found his company on the net. He says they will sell for $200 to $250 but he does need a copy to make the mold. I hope we can get this done as I know the group will enjoy having the competition hood option. Email me if you need my help...Jack
  20. I'm closest to figure two. I have a fuel cell mounted in my trunk with two Holley filters going into a Holley elec. fuel pump, the fuel line than goes to my holley regulator mounted on my drivers side fender well. I than have two lines from my regulator , one goes to my #1 carb, the other goes to my #3 with fuel line from each going to middle carb. I have no return.
  21. Richard do you belong to the Las Vegas SCCA? If not were haveing a two day autocross at the race track this weekend.
  22. Looks like I'm the oldest at 62. That fact alone now makes me feel like $^!#! I've owned hundreds of cars, my first one was Mr. Blue, a 1950 Ford coupe that I got when I was 15. My Dad paid $50 dollars for it and I spent $200 on a metalic blue paint job. Restoring cars has been my hobby every since but I usaually end up losing or not making much of a profit when I sell one. To me it was never about the money but the fun of working on them. I've mostly owned Chevies and Fords but a few foreign cars as well. I've three 914's a 944 and a Boxier. Street Rods was my love with my last two being a 40 Ford and a 60 El Camino. Last year this month I had a heart attack and have since stopped building cars for the most part except for the 1972 Datsun 240Z that I bought my wife Sue a few months back ( Sue is much younger and better looking then myself!) I had bought her a 2008 Honda 2000CR for auto crossing but when she fell in love we road racing this past year I knew we needed a dedicated race car as she was too nervous on the course in her new car. I found our 240 on ebay, it had been a student trainer at a race track in Ca.. Sue loves the car in fact I just finished loading it on our trailer for an autocross event tomorrow. They'll be around 60 cars there and I hope Sue will finish in the top twenty percent as usual. The car handles well but she's still working on getting used to the wheel hope in tight corners as the spiders gears have been welded. It road races very well and even managed to run a few Porsche's into the ground last event. I enjoy reading the posts on this site and at times wish I too was restoring another old car. I'm interested in finding out why the one guys car won't rev past 4K!

Welcome on board. I'll probably get killed for saying this but my 72 is chevy orange with black numbers as it's a dedicated racer.

I looked all over without much luck. I ended up finding mine on ebay, at least the price was right, they look good and perform well on a road course and autoxing too. I went with the 15x8 with Toyo R888's for road racing and I use 13x10 with Hoosier race slicks for autoxing.
  25. If I didn't know any better I'd say it is a linkage problem. I had that happen to me years ago with a 65 Mustang!
