Peening stub axle nuts
I think what they mean is staking the nut so it does not come loose.

reverse noisy
It's not a problem, there is no syncro on reverse and it's a straight cut gear, try putting it in second before reverse.

Z revs slowly
A good way to tell if your mixture is right is to disable one carb and see if the engine will continue to run on 3 cylinders if it does your mixture is good if it stalls richen it up a little. Atf is not always the best solution, yeah it makes the piston rise faster but that cuts velocity through the venturi which in turn cuts the amount of fuel drawn out of the nozzle effectively leaning out the mixture.

Z revs slowly
Are you talking about accelleration or revving in nut nuterual ? If you ignition timing is ok and the exhaust in not plugged it could be the cam timing in relation to the crank.

My z sputters and stalls on take off
If you lift up on the suction pistons and they offer no resistance they are out of oil, you will see two lines on the plunger rod, make sure the oil is between those lines. It's ok if you over fill it, and use 20wt oil.

How do you adjust the height of the clutch pedal?
I can only assume your car is assembled correctly, the lock nut should be butted up against the u shaped bracket that connects the clutch pedal, if not make it so.

How do you adjust the height of the clutch pedal?
There is a threaded rod that connects the clutch pedal to the clutch master cylinder, loosen the lock nut and adjust.

My z sputters and stalls on take off
Check the damper oil in carbs under the black thumb screws, might be low.

Installing KYB struts & Eibach Springs: Reassembly.
Depends on the springs, when I did mine I used msa springs and they did not need a comprsssor, As for the bump stops use them, your old ones probably rotted and fell off, don't know about the zip ties.

My 72 240z does not have high end power
Check your float level, gross mixture is set by the float level, you should be able to see fuel just below the nozzle buy squeezing the fuel pipe. Also make sure the fuel nozzle is flush with the jet bridge with the choke off, then with the mixture nut turned all the way up index the jet needle by losening the set screw just enough to allow movement of the needle and pull it out so you can carefully set the piston back down and gently press the piston down into the nozzle. Now remove the piston and tighten the set screw, it's ok if the jet needle is not flush with the piston, now set the mixture nuts. Why are you running such a tiny exhaust pipe ? 2 1/4 minimum.

Amp meter pegs all the way right
Yeah that's true, back in the day there was an auto electric shop on every corner.

Cutting out at 4000 RPM when warm
Just get rid of the flat tops, anything is better, get rid of the egr too.

Amp meter pegs all the way right
I replaced my alternator 3 times before I got a good one, rebuilt anything is junk. You are better off with an original unit from a salvage yard.

Does your idle change with temperature?
The so called idle control valve is not an idle control valve in the sense that it controls idle speed. What it does is help control emissions on the over run by letting the throttle valves stay open for a periond of time preventing a rich condition when you take your foot off the gas.

Amp meter pegs all the way right
How long was the battery out of the car ? How long did it take for the engine to light off ? Maybe it's just dead and needs a charge.

low oil psi
20/50 is thick as molasses, but your oil pressure is fine. Cams don't really need all that much oil, most of the oil is going to the bottom end. Just look at how tiny the oil passage is going to the head, its like 2mm, don't worry about it.
-
low oil psi
I have been using both methods of cam oiling with the turbo oil pump and I get between 10 and 20 psi at idle. What weight oil are you using ? Ambiant temp is also a factor.

240Z in movies
He said "but that was my....car" The funny part is he was wearing a straight jacket when he said it. And if you are a true Z freak you know that Slap Shot is a Paul Newman classic and we know how Paul felt about Z-cars, RIP Paul.
