transmission swaps
Wow man,you didn't even get the do a search reply.Ok in a 73 with a 4-speed swap to the zx 5-speed is plug and play, question is why do you want the 5-speed? fifth gear is an overdrive, are you looking for fuel economy or are you into the numbers game, more being better. I know what you are going to say 5 speed is better, but look at it this way,do you really want the output turning faster than the input? all it's going to do is put your engine behind the power band.Especially if you got stock rear gears. I had to replace my original 71 4-speed about 10 years ago and I thought about the 5-speed but at the time I needed to get it done fast and could not find a good 5-speed.So I got a 4-speed from a 78 280z,I rebuilt it,put it in and have not had a problem since. Pretty sure your 4-speed is the same one I got, unless it's giving you trouble I would leave it alone. As for resale, most people prefer the 5-speed so I don't think anyone would mind if it was in there already, you would just be saving them the trouble of doing it themselves. It might even help resale. Well that's my opinion and like A** holes everyone's got one.

HELP! Has anyone seen this car?
I am not your typical car salesman, remember I sell Porsche. You cant use the old school method of car sales, wich is lie, cheat and steal to get a deal. Most high end customers are highly educated and very impatient,if you say the wrong thing thier gone, never to return. I once had a guy return a 2004 996 turbo with 1600 miles,he came in signed the lease return paper work and left. But you see it was a lease,he never had any attachment to the car,he never drove it.The sticker on that thing was 136,000.00 And if a guy wants to sell me back a car he ownes,he is not going to like the number I give him,if fact he is going to blow a gasket. If you want to keep your clients you have to approch the matter very delicately by very explaining very slowly and respectfully the deminishing returns you get. That way they don't take offense when you hit him with the number. Then he thinks to himself, this guy is actually trying to talk me out of selling my car to him,I like this guy.And you know what happens after that,he sends his wife in to buy a Cayenne, his partner to buy a 911 and his gay associate to buy a Boxster, and everybodys happy. Fooshe55 obviosly loves his car,he put his heart and soul into that car to make it what it is,that is totally different that simply buying a car and driving it for a wile and then saying i'm done. And lets face it,if you are driving a Z, you are saying yes to that car everyday,no matter what it does.No matter how many times you get stuck you say I love you and take it home and fix it. That's true love, most wives don't get that kind of devotion. Fooshe55,I hope you find your car man, good luck to you.

Euro Springs Group Buy???
Ok,what are euro springs? are they the ones Nissan had in there old Nismo catalog years back that were supposedly available only in the European market? And what is the difference? Right now I am using MSA springs that I don't particularly care for but are alot better than the 37 year old saggy noodles that were in there before.

First time Nissan Owner
Yeah,I'm new to this forum too,but not new to Z-cars.I am the third owner of my Z that I have owend since 1988.1971 240Z built 11-70 HLS-30-17121,build date is important with early Z-cars,nissan made lots of running changes to the car in mid production. So when you get your car and start ordering parts be sure to let whoever know exacty when the car was built, not just the model year.My car is actually a 1970 but titled as a 1971.Oh yeah like the heel toe action in your avitar..

Oil Leak
No,you don't have to drop the oil pan to change the rear main seal.Only if it's leaking from the side seals on the rear main bearing cap, chances are it is not.Tricky part is removing old seal, sometimes you can pry it out with a small screwdriver or get one or two self tapping sheet metal screws and screw them in and pry it out that way. When installing new seal, drive it in so the seal lip does not ride the crank in the same place or it might leak. One other thought,it could be leaking from the rear oil galley plug.

Distributor Question
That sounds like sludge,is your engine original?I had my dizzy out the other day and all that's down there is a small puddle of oil.

Exhaust Header Wrapping
Hi everyone I am new to this forum and have been reluctant to post after having been flamed repeatedly on one of the other Z forums I wont say wich.Anyway I tried the header wrap years ago and found it to have no real benifit.I currently use a high quality header ceramic coated to a 2.5 inch pipe straight back to dynomax super turbo.I have tried the magnaflow but that was way to loud, good power but too loud.
