  1. I would be very interested in a twin tip (vertical) muffler as well: I had one on a 510 with twin webers and it looked and sounded great. Not sure I could justify the entire SS exhaust system at this point (other priorities for the $900), but the muffler, hangar and resonator would be high on my list.
  2. My 74 260 2/2 came with the original brown interior, described in their sales literature as butterscotch brown. MSA and the other major zed suppliers carry carpet in the stock colours: since there were only a couple of browns to choose from it is not difficult to choose the one that matches. I chose the darker brown for my carpet set, but in retrospect I would have been wiser to get the black carpet, as the brown can wear on you after a while (in other words it looks dated unless it is a real concourse restoration), whereas black is always safe as a long term bet, esp. if the car is not a 90 point restoration.

Hello folks: I am watching this thread with interest as I too am planning a swap for my 1/74 260 2+2. I am thinking at this point that I can do it cheaper than the zspecialities (especially when you figure in exchange, shipping, and broker fees). It would nice to confirm that the existing instructions for 240's work for our 260's, or whether some changes are needed. Looking forward to a write up: if not done by someone else I will do one for mine, except I won't be getting to that part for a month or so. BTW, actually drove my 260 for the first time on tuseday: it hasn't run for 8 or 10 years: the PO (a mechanic) and I got it running and I drove it the 2 blocks to my place (no windows, interior or quarter panels, lucky i live in the country) Felt great to actually drive it! Thanks, this forum is very helpful.
  4. yes, there are certainly some real limits to the part supplies for our cars: I feel the pain more than most with a 260 2+2. But, I came to my zed from a 49 Studebaker, and a 60 Mercedes, so I am just happy that 1) the manufacturer still exists 2) it is not a $100 for a $30 part.

  10. I have these seals for my 74 260 2/2. when i ordered from MSA they were listed as the same part number for the 240. Turns out BD sent me the wrong part so i got them from Charlie Osborne. But, mine don't 'screw in', they slide down a channel in the front of the 1/4 window. I have since decided to replace the whole seal, which now comes as a one piece, so I have those two surplus single seals and am happy to send them to you if they fit. here are some pics: is your 240 the same?
