240z Distributor Bolt Snapped- Best way to extract broken piece?
Today I noticed one of the two bolts that mounts the distributor to the front engine cover on my 240z was loose, so I tightened it. The bolt seemed to turn freely, but suddenly just snapped off flush with the front engine cover when I tightened it. I didn't even snug it and somehow it broke off. Now I have to find a way to remove the broken off piece from the engine cover. What's the best way to go about doing this? I realize that I will have to take the distributor off, but will that screw with the timing?

240z Temperature Always Over Half
Does anyone know how to get a hold of a genuine Nissan 160 degree thermostat? It seems that Nissan only carries the 170 and 180 degree ones these days. The only one I see on ebay is $55

240z Temperature Always Over Half
There are about 200 miles on the rebuilt engine. We've pretty much ruled out the main cause being the sensor, thermostat, missing fan shroud etc.. Within 1 mile of driving the temp goes up to 3/4 and the radiator is burning hot to the touch. And this is only in 75 degree weather. We're beginning to think it's something more serious (internal problem). Any idea of what a more serious cause could be? To avoid a big controversy on here, I'll avoid mentioning the person who worked on our car, but it seems that we received poor quality work for the amount money we payed to have the engine rebuilt.

Need a 240z Fan Shroud
Can anyone help me find a decent fan shroud for my 240z? I ordered the one from motorsport and it's junk for $80. It's cracked in several places and looks very cheap. If anyone can help me find a good plastic or metal fan shroud, I'd greatly appreciate it.

240z Temperature Always Over Half
I think I'll try changing that temp sending unit first. Right now we have the unit from motorsport. Does anyone have the part number for the Nissan one? I can't seem to find it in the FAST diagrams.

240z Temperature Always Over Half
We took the car for a drive today and the temp crept up almost to the P when idling. I don't understand how the car is getting that hot considering it has a brand new fan clutch, thermostat, and radiator. Any idea why the temp would have always been slightly under half before the engine was rebuilt (had an old radiator and a blown head gasket) ?

240z Temperature Always Over Half
I've heard that can fix it. Does it matter if it's a metal or plastic shroud? Is MSA's fiberglass one any good?

240z Temperature Always Over Half
Our 240z's engine was just rebuilt and all the parts in the engine compartment were replaced with new ones. Before the engine was rebuilt, the temperature would almost always stay under half, even though it had a slightly blown head gasket and the original radiator. Now, for some reason, the temp is always over half way. We're confused about what the problem could be, because a new CSF radiator was installed along with a new Nissan fan clutch and a new Nissan 160 degree thermostat. Maybe the temperature sending unit could be inaccurate? If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to pitch in.

3-screw vs. 4-screw S.U. Carbs
I'm having my 1971 240z's engine rebuilt and I noticed that the person working on the car replaced my 4-screw carbs with 3-screw ones. Are the 3-screw carbs better? Should I tell him to put the 4-screw carbs back on?

Need Pictures of 100% Original 1970 240z Engine Compartment
Thanks for those pictures. The one thing in my engine compartment that I'm not sure is original is the coil and resistor bracket. The resistor is in a bracket that clips onto the top of the coil. Was that design stock on a late 70?

240z Vinyl Wiring Boot(Under Dash & Behind Console)
Does anyone know if this little vinyl boot is still available? It's the one that conceals the wires coming out for the console and going up into the dashboard. Mine has overspray on it and it would be nice to have a new one.

Nissan FAST System
Well what version of Windows are you running? I've installed it on Vista and on XP and it does the same thing on both. Maybe I have a bad version of FAST? Where did you download the program from?

Nissan FAST System
For those of you who have installed the Nissan FAST System on your computer, have you noticed that it uses 100% percent CPU? Does anyone know if there's a way to make the program not use so much system resources?

Difference between '70/'71 and '72 Cylinder Head
What's the difference between them? Is the '72 head a lot better? I'm asking this because I have a 70/71 240z and a '72 cylinder head sitting in my garage. I might have the engine rebuilt and I'm wondering if I should put on the '72 head.

240z Engine Suddenly Running Hot
It usually runs steady at slightly below half on the temp gauge. I can tell by just touching the engine after it's been running that it's running hotter than normal.
-
240z Engine Suddenly Running Hot
Today the temperature gauge on my 240z is running slightly over half. I swapped out the valve cover yesterday for a polished one, but I don't see why that would have caused any problems. The engine is not leaking any oil whatsoever and it's not low on coolant. Nothing has changed except for the valve cover and I have no idea why the car is running hot. Any ideas??

240z Choke Cable Sticking
I just checked with Nissan and the numbers for the choke cable for my year 240z are not available. Will the assemblies for later 240z's work with my early 71?
-
240z Choke Cable Sticking
Actually, my 240z is called a 1971, but it was really made in december of '70. Can you give me the part number for the earlier choke cable? And, under what category in the diagrams did you find the choke cable?
-
240z Choke Cable Sticking
Can anyone give me the part number for a new choke cable assembly for a '71? I can't locate it in any of the part diagrams.
-
240z Choke Cable Sticking
The choke cable that attaches to the front carburetor is not returning to where it should after the choke is pulled back and pushed forward again. I tried lubricating all of the joints that the cable triggers on the front carburetor, but it still isn't fully returning to normal; this causes the car to idle higher than it should and will flood the car when it's turned off(unless I open up the hood and push the lever back to normal). Anyone know how I can fix this issue?
