Fuel problem
I just completed installing my rebuilt head. Rebuilt the carburetors and have new mechanical fuel pump. (1971 Z). I CAN NOT GET ANY FUEL TO THE CARBURETORS. The fuel tank is filled to the top. I tried blowing back air from the line at the filter but no luck. Is there something internal to the tank that would prevent fuel from getting into the fuel line? Looking for any suggestions. If I give the carburetors a shot of ether the engine runs for short time. Al Squillante

L24 head installation
I want to thank Santamaus, Jeff and Ben I finally was able to get the bolt holding the sprocket on loose. A long bar and a lot of hits with a hammer while holding the shaft with a vise grip. No damage . I finally got the head bolted on and installed the spocket to the chain after I torqued the head down. Much to my suprise the sprocket slid right on . The wood chock I used held the chain in place .

L24 engine
I haave a 19771 240 which I put in storage(my garage) 16 years ago. I ran it a few times a year and recently decided to put it on the road. This time it wouldnt start and after a new fuel pump and cleaning the carbs I got it running like new. Put it in the garage that night and the next morning it wouldnt start. Two valves hung up and I decided to pull the head. I brought it to a friend of mine to rebuuild and the head was to out of flat to machine it. He sent it to a place in Canada where they reheat treated and brought the head in to spec. The head is like new and I am ready to install it. The queastion I have is do I treat the head gasket with anything before I bolt it up. There seems to be some disagreement in how to treat the head gasket. Thanks Al

Rebuild of L24 Head
I had two valves hung up and removed the head and brought it to a local engine rebuilder . He found the head out of flat by .026. I agreed to have him send it to a place in canada and they heat treated the head to flatten it and took a trim coat of .006 inches. They did a beautifull job. The engine rebuilder will have it ready when I get back home. My question is do I have to treat the head gasket in any special way, that is , need any grease or lubricant. I have had various opinions on this gasket. My z is a1971 and I have had it in my garage fo 14 years waiting for time to restore it. Like all z cars this vintage I will have to do a good deal of work on the quarter panels and the side panels under the doors.

Repair of l24 head
I had trouble with my engine after it had been in storage for 15 years. The bottom line is two valves hung up and I removed the head to have it rebuilt. Prior to removal of the head the compession of four of the 6 cylinders was about 200 psi. The head rebuilder found that the head was out of flat(warped) by .023 inches and said machining it flat would exceed the nisson recomendation. I need a new rplacement or some advice what to do next. The rebuilder suggests sending it to a place in Canada where they would anneal the head and reheatreat and machine. What do yu think
