Ive been looking for about an hour now for it and no luck. Does anyone have a link to it? or know anything about the picture itself? where it came from? thanks in advance for any help :classic:

I am currious to know if anyone here has rebuilt the heater box in a 240. On my conquest to remove and disassemble everything in my car for blasting and paint, i have removed the dash and removed the blower motor and heater box. I would like to have these blasted and painted while im at it and the only part i can't quite figure out is how to remove the vent flaps from the box itself. it looks like the only thing holding them on is the pin that runs through the hinge but i dont want to break anything by forcing it... just yet anyways. If anybody has any ideas i'm all ears, and ill be sure to post some pictures when its all done.

I have my professional installer certification and i've worked in a few shops and i've seen a good range of products. Kenwood is really tough to beat $ for $. Depending on how much you want to spend i like the Pioneer A series speakers. I have a pair in my civic at the moment and they sound great right off the cd player. They also make amps for tight spaces. Up from that is pioneers Premier line of speakers and amps. If you've got deep pockets and can find a dealer, Focal makes some truly beautiful products. And this is just me, but you wouldn't catch me dead with sony anything in my car. walmart brand IMO. Ive got nothing against alpine or clarion, just never caught my attention with anything.

Zs-ondabrain - "Everything in between the strut assemblies" Yea, that's what i was thinking. Then i could have those blasted/powder coated without having to rip mine out right away. P.S. Dave, do you get text updates on you cell when there's a new post on these forums or something.... its after 1am :-p haha. Thanks for the help!

I am currently working on a '72 240z and its starting to look like it could use a little help. A '74 260z has just come up for sale locally (not running) with an asking price of $800. I was wondering how much of this car can bolt on to my '72? The things i would be interested in would be: - some body parts (hatch / just below the hatch on body) - electrical such as the windshield wiper assy and ignition assy - some glass - interior panels and trim - and i was wonder how much of the suspension is... Maybe it would be better to start with what isnt swapable. Would there be anything on it anyone here would be interested in?

GQ Magazine has release a list of their favorite cars "The Most Stylish Cars of the Past 50 Years" in which the 240z made it into their 1970's group. http://www.gq.com/cars-gear/cars/201001/most-stylish-cars-in-history#slide=16

Yea, it was just re-badged. It actually had a few makes stamped in various places. There were Mitsubishi stamps on the backs of the speaker magnets. There were Plymouth stamps behind some of the interior plastics and a big Dodge badge on the back of the car.
  13. Hmmm, less than 20 days to go now till christmas.. I think it's time to bring back a 6 year old thread!

I am 21, and the Z is my third car.. well i was 20 when i bought it :-p 1. 1990 Dodge Colt : "The POS" I got it for $300 from a family friend. It lasted me about 6 months till one of the strut towers rusted out and jammed between the wheel and wheel well. It was a POS but i loved it just the same, it was my first car. 2. 1990 Acura integra: "Tiggr" I got this one after the colt. all mods, by my opinion, were tastefully done by PO. Sound system, wheels, genie exhaust. It was dubbed Tiggr by my mom after the winnie the pooh character. I hated the name at the time but it grew on. Car was stolen from a movie theater parking lot. 3. 1972 Datsun 240z :No official name yet, although i am thinking "Zada" after my little cousin.

So over the last few months ive had some new parts starting to pile up including new floor pans. I know there are some rust issues with the car so i have been contemplating having it blasted down to metal and having it primed so i get get a good solid base to do the body work on. To do this i would like to strip the car down to a the shell myself to save a few bucks on labor time. I have done a search but i cant seem to find any "how to"s on pulling an engine. Is there anyone that could point me to / write up a quick checklist of what has to be unscrewed. I'm mostly concerned about forgetting something from the transmission back and breaking it trying to pull it out. Thanks in advance for everyones help, you guys have saved my arse a few times
  17. Great explanation EScanlon. I have worked with both and they are indeed quite different. That was a great point you had about shops that say they use fiberglass and no bondo. if you were to sand down the fiberglass all the glass strands will start poking out where the resin layer was gone and leave a very rough surface. But by applying a thin layer of bondo you can smooth it all nicely.
  18. Charlie Osborne of Zedd Findings http://www.datsunzparts.ca/NewParts/summary.htm is a fairly popular choice here for the floor pans / rails. I have a pair in the garage waiting to go into mine right now.

oh man... i think the front end on that yellow one takes the cake. Does Evil Knievel know he's got a flat? :-p
  20. This is the closest to mine i've seen so far here. 101 appart.
  21. BINGO... Probably the nicest looking one ive seen out there too.
  22. haha funny you should say that, my bumpers have been re-chromed and are currently sitting up in my bedroom  And for the rest of what you listed i think thats exactly what i had planned for it. Thanks for the info.
  23. It feels like Christmas. Santa's brown sleigh, that inexplicably looked like a fed ex truck, rolled into the driveway today bringing tiding of good joy and more importantly PRESENTS! But now this brings a question. Which springs go in the front and which in the back? Is there an up or down to them?
  24. I know theres a lot more to it but from what the pictures show it looks like a damn clean car. Heres the link to the car on the auction site: http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?ln=319&aid=303&pop=1

okay guys, i have read some of the walk-throughs on how to work on suspension but i cant find them anymore so new post it is. From step one im already in a pinch. In the front assy ive started by loosening the three nuts at the top of the tower but when i go to loosen the larger one in the middle it will not budge. How hard is it supposed to be? I dont really feel like breaking anything i dont have to at the moment. and just in case you were wondering, im just wanting to get in there cause i have some Eibach springs and some 16" Rewinds on the way from MSA.
