  1. Darn rain - but way to go Greg and Congrats on a good season.
  2. Lot of difference between qualifying and a race. Stand on it son! :classic:
  3. Thank you for that guys. Wow the Mazdas are a frieght train in this class. Way to go Greg. You never know what you see - noise monitoring at a closed circuit race no less.
  4. When is the race?? On TV at all? Go Greg!

You know a guy with a pretty fair amount of experience in enduro and rally style racing with roadbooks and time keeping dont you - although it was all two wheel. He says go for the race ! In four years you will want to race. Getting ready even for one year is a long time! What finsih places do they podium or award? I mean you dont actually HAVE to win the overall do you? Even if you are 5th or 10th in your class - still a good run ! And if you dont race you will likely be back to race the next time huh? I am going to have to get another race trailer after-all???

I will be looking to check this out. I was thinking of switching to a Volt / Fuel gauge on the 260.

Hmmmm.. good practice there as I know another one, or two :classic: that dont work correctly. Keep up the good work there mio. " Oh haiel, I kant spaiel - but I kan build one dem dare little ol' Z cars, and rope, shoot, and ride too!" says the local Texas cowboy. LOL
  9. Yikes - maybe not for $40 - I can buy one piece of moldy jute for that.
  10. MINE - minus the moldy jute part. I may have to look into the Hai Karate thing.
  11. Now you are thinking. Making money ....instead of, umm, well , you know.... well... If you find 2 let me know. I know I will need one. Lets see I have a utility trailer, a very large open trailer and an enclosed motorcycle trailer. I know I will need another acre to store stuff on. Maybe I can just trade all of these in on something. I should have just kept my older BIG enclosed trailer. Every time I get rid of something I am not using then I need it again.
  12. Fantasy: Old cars are the best and you are going to love it. Reality Check: Old cars are old. They are old for a reason. And there are reasons that they dont build them like that anymore. Fantasy: They go FAST. Men fear them. Chicks dig them. Reality Check: They arent as fast as you remember or you are slower. Men say " What is that little THANG you drivin'?" Women say "Does it have air conditioning and hands free cell calling? Oh I did not know that was not available THEN. How OLD are you?" Fantasy: They did not cost a lot back in 1975. Reality Check: I did not have any money in 1975 so buying hot rod parts was not a concern. Reality Check 2: It will cost a lot more today. Fantasy: People will see the old car on the road and give you some "space." Reality Check: You are kidding right? They dont see or care about a damn thing. You are little - get the hell outta my way. Fantasy: It wil take me a "few weeks" to get everything together and make the car be better than it ever was. Reality Check: It will takes weeks and several credit cards full of stuff to even start getting it all here much less put together. It may never end. Fantasy: It will be fun. Reality Check: Yes -- but it wil become WORK. Fantasy: The online group will help you. Reality Check: Yes they do and very helpful too. Great guys there. They have already been there at the Fantasy and Reality Check. :classic: Please add yours too. Have a Z day today.
  13. Well they aren't "terrible bad" but they aren't "better bigger gooder" either :classic:! A buddy of mines car looks gooder and so I have to upgrade, so that it upholds the image of Cowboys in Jap cars at the mostly all American car show. Whew - keeping up with the Jonses is hard to do in Texas where everything is bigger and better ...uhh, and gooder. I mean they have guys down here that build stuff to fly in Outer Space for christsakes!
  14. Yes and it would have likely been here in Texas too , but I am hard looking for some 15's (90%) or 16's (10%) to get these China wheels and tires off my car. Got any other sizes hiding in the back forty storage ! Thanks as always.
  15. ^^^ Same as I asked above - but it's over in the Store under "SHOP" on the page Header.
  16. Yes I will do that. But do you have to create a new log in or is the same as the Z car log in? Pay Pal etc or can I just send money. The reason I ask is I hate to create a new account for just one thing. Last month somebone had stolen one of my CC numbers and was off trying to buy a trip or something before Visa shut them down.
  17. Dave: Well I BELIEVE the connectors are black. The previous owner did a great job with this car except in about four places 1. The front light hook ups with the bumper and what I believe is a 280 air dam. I will likely change thse out for some lights that are better looking and at least match the lenses. Do you have any suggestions?? 2. The overspray red into the front area as you can see. GRRRRR! 3. Cruddy aftermarket igntion. 3. He did not go ahead and take off these crappy flattop carbs and replace them with triple Mikunis for me ! Then what would I have to do???? The best I can tell they are black under the red. The car is manufactured in August 1973 and of course is a 1974 260.
  18. Ok I live down here by Stephen and although I do not want to copy his car too much - I like his exhaust. My car just came Friday - an early 260 that is all original but not for too long. What size are these Ansa's?? They are 1 into 2 are they not? I am likely to go a mostly custom exhaust. Before now I was thinking Rebello 2.5 3 into 2 headers and a twice pipes style rear set up. Because you dont see these cool ANSA's everyday I would like to have them but I dont know which muffler or resonator to use . My only other idea would likely be a Borla 2.25 or 2.5. Would these tips work and sound "great, wonderful and delicious" without me having to re-work everything when I get there. I am sure with ENOUGH weld, cut and fab anything would go but I am trying to make it "more" direct fit. Thanks.
  19. I am going to do ALL of this and get with you in just a few days.
  20. Mucho Gracias!
  21. And so what are the results?? I was going to check mine as well but the battery was very low on Satuday after being started and driven and back on the truck a few times. And today - well I just drove it around a bit. Mostly with some trucks about 3 ft off of my tailpipe  (which is fumey to say the least).
  22. Arne & Dave: Were these the 5 1/4 20 watts? Or do you have an Amazon Kenwood number for the speakers? My car has arrived and of course I have a list of things to do. But somewhere here early on once I get some of the things out of the way I want to get some sound into the car. I think installed radio with 8 track player in the dash is as it was delivered from the dealer. It does not work of course and the speaker(s) have to be shot as well. I am going to look for a radio shop to restore the radio if it is indeed original. But I am going to go under seat or somewhere with a cassette as I had that in the last 260 and I still have cassettes. Click in Boston into the cassette and go ride. Dave please add the speaker mount x 2 to my list . Many thanks to Arne and Dave for helping everybody on this forum. When you are in Houston area all Mexican food, adult beverages, and fishing are on me for you guys.
  23. Dave: Your post may repeat itself down here in Texas if I follow along the line of a Street Mod car like Carl and Greg Ira were saying. Now I just have to get the second job LOL Not to pay for the car - but to put up another shop and storage.
  24. I am still here - just had to take care of some other things for a day. Thank you for all your inputs. Leave it to me to get the most un-desireable Z ! One reason I wanted the 260 is it is about the last of the carburated cars - and the last of the Z's like it. There are more 240's and 280s and all but I like the red head stepchildren and it was only made one year. Mine is in the first 1000 of the 260s. In both guns and motorcycles I have seen the red head stepchild morph turn into a blond super beauty though. The main reason I got this 260 was that is was available right when I looked. It was not beat up, chopped up or torn up or owned by any "mechanics". It has no rust. It was mostly original and all there. It has a 3 inch thick file containing most of the things ever done to it - and all of the California smog tests and battle letters :classic: It starts and runs .......... I am just looking to make it run BETTER I just cant leave well enough alone.
