Monza exhaust?
I was going to leave the engine stock but I don't want to learn welding. Already too old to learn more tricks. They have a "targa" exhaust in the catalog?

Which Motorsport exhaust are you recommending? I am looking for bang for the buck. Stock is nice?

Just heard on CNBC the motorcycle goes "up to 400 MPH" Man, he'd better be wearing very good leathers.

70-71 Brake Master Cyl needed
What is the current thought on using the $35 rebuilding kits? I used one on my Spitfire and it sucked big-time. My core looks decent.

No rust! Now what?
Okay, Carl and those with experience... how much POR15 product did you need to do the entire inside floor of the Z? I'll start stripping the rest of the interior out this week. Would like to have enough on hand before I start the messy work. I have a garage, but not all that heated. I'd guess it's about 55 in there most of the time although it is 20 outside. I'll have to see how the directions go.

No rust! Now what?
You're right...that isn't metal. I'll be damned. Guess my weekend is cut out for me. Thanks---again--- for helping the newbie. I ordered my POR-15 from POR-15 of Texas. Same prices as the POR-15 site (www.por15.com) but free shipping if you spend $100 or more. I used www.por-texas.com

No rust! Now what?
Thanks for the advice. Will go for it. What's a tar mat? I thought I was down to bare metal. Also should I do anything under the car or just POR-15 the inside?

Introduce yourself to the class?
Hi... brand new Z owner. Only previous restoration experience was 1965 VW Bug, 66 VW bug (put Porsche 914 engine and tranny in it and it would pop a wheelie in first gear) , an 85.5 Porsche 944 and most recently a 1980 Triumph Spitfire. Not sure I am still up to the task of this Z but it got it for a song and it appears to be nearly rust free and all original, so I am making a try at it. I have eight children via adoption so I have zero free time but I work on the car when I can here and there. I need some expert out there to come see me some weekend and have a Z marathon so I can get some stuff done. My cars, in order of ownership: 66 VW Bug 73 Olds Cutlass Supreme 78 Chevy Caprice 83 Honda Civic 87 Honda Prelude 90 Honda Prelude 92 Toyota Camry 85 Porsche 944 96 Dodge Ram Van 15 passenger 96 Plymouth Grand Voyager 80 Triumph Spitfire * 71 Datsun 240z * 02 PT Cruiser * 02 GMC Savana 12 passenger * 92 Honda Accord SE * * Still owns

No rust! Now what?
Thanks for all of your help, guys. In addition to my brake question, I got what I thought was my rusty door edge guard off. Turns out the stainless piece is fine, the metal piece with the vinyl covering was all that was rusty! Whew. My floorboards, as you can see, are relatively rust free. (Or are they?) Thank god for inside storage for 14 years. Anyway, what do you experts think I should do to keep it that way? My thought was to take everything out of the interior and POR-15 the whole thing. Any thoughts? Thanks for your advice.

Got my brake master cyl out
Okay, found some time today and managed to get the master cylinder out of my 71. (Frozen in time, parked for a decade). This is the first of several posts of my weekend discoveries. One, I bought a new master cyl (in photo) but the reservoirs seem to be reversed, which makes me think it is for a 260 instead. Will this work as is? Can I swap the reservoirs? Does it matter? Yes, I could not get one of the lines off despite the new 10mm line wrench. I think I had already rounded it off too much with a Snap-On 10mm. Still looking for retailer of that hose new if anyone has any clues. Nissan dealer? Also when I got it off I found the white junk in there. Also photoed below. Cleaned it out but anything to be worried about? Thanks for your brains... Derk

Monza exhaust?
I don't weld and my car does not move ---yet. Anyone used those Monza exhaust kits? The idea of doing this myself is appealing.

Dash cap thingy?
Okay. I have a massively cracked dash. (Join the club, i know). I can spend $500 and a boatload of time getting it out and having it refurbed. What about these dash cap things for 80 bucks on eBay? Anyone used them and what did they look like? appreciate the advice.

Need motivation in New Year...HELP
Was thinking of dropping the tank with contents in it rather than hooking up a battery and blowing the junk thru the lines. Then have ordered POR-15 gas tank kit to redo it. Any thoughts about dropping it as is?
