What kind of pump are we talking about? What year is your Z?
  2. Check your fuel pressure, fuel pump, fuel regulator , injectors (clogged can be a major problem)

Check if your injectors are clogged.. I jus finished installing my injectors and wow! 2 1/2 years of figuring it out has finally paid off!

Good job! We tend to look over the little things and somehow stumble upon them on accident. The first thing I did to my Z was look at the TIU in my car (opened it up and the board was split into pieces..) But good job!

Have you checked your fusible links for the starter ? maybe the timing is off? EFI is critical, everything has to work together in order for it to work properly btw, how much voltage are you getting from the battery? if its too low you might need a jump start.

You said you are getting 30 PSI after the lines. What happens when you step on the gas does it go to 42 psi?
  11. I plan on cleaning my entire fuel system and POR my gas tank Then install the seats and possibly have the diff clunk fixed.

I have a Z and a Honda.. I like my Honda... cheap and reliable.. ( I beat the SHHH out of it) and still gives me 35mpg. There are plenty of cheap and available mod's you can do to a Honda, but if you want something different, a Z is the way to go. It depends what your looking for, I know many fast honda's and a few fast Z's they are very different and special in their own ways.

"The rear" completes the car.. Wow.. I wonder what the owner was thinking before he decided to do something like that. I guess its nascar status.
  15. Hey Z train thanks for the Reply, I am still new to the auto terminology. What does running valves mean? thanks!
  16. So I ordered the FPR and that is not the problem I am going to pull the FP out tomorrow for a quick clean and see what happens from there.

Hey guys, My 78' 280z fuel gauge is not working. When I turn the key the gauge moves but does not go between the empty and fuel area, instead it sits to the side. This makes me believe that my fuel sending unit is ok, but the gauge itself is the problem. If anyone had this problem.. was a simple gauge replacement the fix or am I wrong that my sending unit is at fault. thanks! -bee
  20. Thanks. We have come to a conclusion that the FPR is one of the problems (we pulled the vacuum hose off of the FPR and stuck a screw in it the pressure built up. Then we pulled the screw off and stuck it back into the FPR and the pressure dropped to around 24. I am going to order a new FPR and see where it goes then.
  21. How many square feet did the $500 cover?

I am too looking for a muffler as well. What is the stock exhaust size? is it 2 1/4? I have been reading about the dynomax turbo like beandip has recommended and it seems nice.
  23. The work was done with a fellow Z member. He brought over the timing gun and helped me timed it and also brought a mini tach to adjust the idle speed (800 rpms). When the car runs lean is it due to a weak pump , Im getting about 30 PSI when the car is off and about 32 or so when the car is running (the FSM shows that it needs a min. of 36.3psi ) And the plugs are plugged in (counter clock wise) 1,5,3,6,2,4 thanks again! -bee
  24. Hey Z Car users, I have a stock 1978 280z . I just recently got the Spark plugs, plug wires, Dizzy cap and Rotor replaced. Followed with a timing. Under acceleration the intake makes a "pop" noise. I wa told the car was running lean. Has anyone ever had this problem? If you do, how did you fix it? thanks! -bee
  25. Module as in Transistor Ignition Unit? If that's what your looking for , it is on the passenger side next to the fuse box.
