  1. Thanks for the replies, I will check with Mackie and SPD. I know it's a long way to go for work, but I wanted someone who specialized in Zeds and I have found no one who is as helpful and provided such detailed estimates as Mike from Whithead. Once I decided that I lacked the space and time to do the work myself, these guys were my first choice!
  2. Hey all, after much soul searching and prevarication I have decided to have Whitehead Performance do a engine rebuild and repaint of my Series One Zed. Problem: who to contract to get it from Edmonton to North York. Quoted prices range from $999 to $ 1900! And all the companies I find have reviews from "they are great" to "these guys are scam artists":paranoid:! Anyone here have a company they would recommend? Thanks in advance for your help, will check back later to see what the Zed community has to say!
  3. Here's a series one that needs rescuing. Hard to tell from these pics if it would be worth it or not.1970 Datsun 240z - 2 door - hatch back. - Saskatchewan Collector Cars For Sale - Kijiji Saskatchewan Canada.
  4. Here's another one I found just now on Kijiji.1971 Datsun Z-Series Hatchback - Edmonton Collector Cars For Sale - Kijiji Edmonton Canada.
  5. The article stated the owner of the shop is the cars owner, I sent an email out of curiosity and it was a bare shell complete rebuild, not sure why the engine change. More photos would be nice, what did you think of the other cars on offer?
  6. Thats what I thought, the car is in a small article in a classic car magazine(forget which one right now), they loved it and didn't seem to think the price was out of line.
  7. I made a math mistake! Mine is only 900 cars after this one.I wish my engine bay paint looked that good! Keep updating this thread, I will follow with interest, defintely a good decision keeping the original colours.
  8. Came across this restomod zed for sale, seems to pretty pricey to me for a modified car!Vehicle Sales | Automotive Restorations, Inc. Scroll down about 20 cars, not too fast though, there's some pretty nice machinery here!
  9. Thats my car that is being shown above! Exactly 1100 cars after yours was produced. Just so you know, mine was repainted once, badly, in a mercedes blue metallic. The car needs a major refresh and repaint, and I will be going back to 903 blue. I love the blue interior.:classic:
  10. Nice 510! I've owned two in the past , a great condition '69 two door that I never should have sold, and a 70 wagon I used for ice racing, that one just made it to the junkyard after I was done with it!
  11. Whats wrong with Blue on Blue? It's a pretty rare colour combo. That car is pretty close to my blue on blue 71, mine is #15721, 12/70! Looks like it needs a resto, so might as well make it what you want!
  12. Never mind about my request, Jim Karst in YYC had everything I needed!
  13. Hey, I need a splash pan for a 1971 240, faint hope I know but maybe! Also a set of butterfly bolts for the air cleaner assy. Any help is greatly appreciated. Mark
  14. My wife and I were returning from a trip to Oregon last week, saw a very nice red 240 Z as we were exiting the interstate to go to Spokane Valley Mall. This was last Tuesday, somebody here perhaps?
  15. Today I re-installed my turn signal and combo switches. I had sent them off to Dave Irwin to rebuild. Dave turned them around in one day! The Turn Signals have never worked properly, right front did not work at all and left rear was intermittent, as well the right turn indicator light never worked. Well they all work perfectly now! I can't say enough about Dave's work, if you need switches repaired, it is well worth the money to have Dave do it IMO. Next up, rear brakes:D
  16. Thanks koalia, my buddy is quite talented at this stuff, maybe I'll take it to a better location and get him to do some more. Dr. 240, mine is #15721 built 12/ 70, what's yours?
  17. Hey all, Just thought I'd share this cool pic a co-worker took in the parking lot at work last night. This is my '71 blue on blue 240! . Here's another from the front, The hood got damaged in storage last year. Enjoy!
  18. Nice looking car, didn't know they came with a "twin cam inline 6"LOL
  19. Every time I hear about a new Z, I end up disappointed! I won't get excited I won't get excited I won't get excited..... I'M EXCITED!
  20. Wonder if the new owner is enjoying driving a "legand"LOL Leg and a what I wonder, maybe the girl comes with the car!
  21. Thanks Brian, enjoy the demo! I'll definitely look for the clips on you tube. Mark
  22. Hey Olzed, very few if any of those guys left, so many interesting stories untold. From the other side my best friends' Dad from grade seven was a Luftwaffe fighter ace on the Eastern front, but he would never talk about the war. I would love to see that mosquito fly, must sound incredible, even better than an L 24 at High revs!
  23. No worries mate! Thread was done anyways. That's pretty cool! I just saw an original Mosquito fuselage in Nanton Alberta a couple of weeks ago at their Bomber command Museum. They have a Lancaster and a Blenheim as well. My Dad's neighbor was a Navigator in the Pathfinders on Lancs, pretty interesting stories to tell!
  24. Spark plugs are the same and it runs fine now so that's out, could have been plug wires but that's the first thing I checked and the fit seemed fine and there was a strong spark. I did not have the throttle open during compression test, what would that add? Anyway problem solved! I'm off to watch my sons' Junior B Hockey game, more fun than the NHL any day!
  25. Well the problem is resolved! Checked compression, it was 160-155-160-160-155-170 so no problem there. I reinstalled plugs in different cylinders to see if that was it, I did drop a couple during the process, thought maybe I broke something! Started car which ran rough for a few seconds then it settled down into a steady idle and ran fine on the test drive. I am stumped as to why those two cylinders didn't fire the first time around. Theories are welcome!
