  1. Stovepipe, did you get yours yet? Mine has still not arrived, must be hung up in customs, either that or Canada Post delivered it to the wrong address AGAIN!
  2. I have never had to boost the car, the alternator just went bad really quick! Is it possible to hook it up wrong? Maybe I did myself! Mark
  3. Thanks guys, I guess I will contact MSA. This alternator was put in less than 250 miles ago. Failing that I'll take it to a repair shop. It puts out power, just seems the regulator is faulty.
  4. Anyone else have problems with the MSA internal regulator alternator upgrade? Mine seems to cut in and out, the lights dim perceptibly and the amp gauge jumps as the regulator cuts in and out. Switched back to the old alternator and external regulator and everything works fine.
  5. Hey Dave, I'm on vacation at the moment, just finished white water rafting the Kicking Horse river in Golden, B.C. ! I highly reccommend it to anyone passing through! Just want to make sure you recevied my payment! Thanks, Mark
  6. Dave, put me down for one as well, I love the parts tou build! Mark
  7. I am at work right now with a big smile on my face! Funny how one short drive can make hours of effort worth while!
  8. Last few days, installed new hood release, cleaned the hood latch and reinstalled, took off grill and loosened hood hinges to unjam hood! Fiddled with hood adjustment for an hour.Bled brakes and clutch, adjusted slave cylinder throw and clutch pedal (both out badly) Discovered what looks like a shotgun hole in passenger footwell! (will post a pic, very strange)Will drive to work tommorrow:D
  9. Thanks for the tips! I have acopy of Prospero's wiring diagram, I'll get a continuity checker and start with those, keep you updated!
  10. After just driving my Zed for a year and cataloguing needed repairs, a jammed hood release cable has catapulted me into a whole series of repairs! The electrical gremlins to be excorcised are: Intermittent dash lights; short on the dome light circuit ; inop horns ; inop washer motor ; and bizarre ammeter flucuations! There is evidence that P/O had installed driving lights and removed them, as well as other curious wires to nowhere. I have no electrical experience, just a desire to get things working! Any advice or tips are appreciated! I guess my first step is to buy an ohmmeter or multimeter, then figure out how to use it! Wish me luck!
  11. http://www.carpartsdiscount.com/auto/parts/70/nissan/240z/suspension_steering.html?3594=1948:paranoid:Hey, just wondering if anyone has ordered parts from this source? The prices seem to be very good, especially for the steering rack. The Meyle lower ball joints are very cheap, anyone used them?
  12. Hi Mexichris, I have some photo's of Steve's work, I beleive he has a body shop guy in the same complex that does the paint, Steve does the rest. One of his customers sent me some photo's of a highly customized Z Steve did for him, he had very high praise for Steve's work. I'll try to remember to put those up on this thread later, in the mean time here are some that Steve himself sent me. Mark
  13. He does not have a web site but will e mail pics. Hew is very friendly and willing to correspond, unlike most restorers I have talked to. Mark
  14. If you're interested , Steve's e mail is spettersen@sbcglobal.net. Looks like he does top quality work.
  15. There is a guy in L.A., his name is Steve Pettersen. Some on this site must know of him, he specializes in doing Zeds.I have been in touch with him and some of his very satisfied customers via e mail, I'll post his e mail when I get home from work. Mark
  16. Let me be the first to welcome you to the wonderful world of Zeds! Pretty brave of you to buy without seeing it first hand, these things can hide a lot of rust! Post some more pics when you can and let us know the build date and serial #. Mark
  17. Thanks Dave, Your headlight relay upgrade was amazing! I'd read the others experiences but seeing is believing! The difference in brightness is fantastic. Once I've got the Parking light upgrade installed I'll let you know what I think. Your parts are money well spent! Mark
  18. Thanks for the tips Arne, everything is working now! On to the side marker relay upgrade!
  19. Ok, It seems to be working now. I removed the light as suggested and it worked fine, when I reinstalled it the other side stopped working!Removed that side and IT worked fine! Both are working now but as I did not change anything I'm not sure why or for how long. The instructions state that if the metal frame of side marker touches the body, the light won't work, it doesn't, but the screw that holds the light would seem to provide a path from frame of light to body. Not being familiar with electrical theroy, I'm puzzled. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Arne, I just noticed that you list 12746 in your info, Thats only 5 away from mine! What colour was it? Mark
  20. Thanks Arne, I'll try that! Note that the turn signal is also inop. I'll try removing the new part and see what happens. Mark
  21. I just installed the headlight relay upgrade and side marker conversion kits from MSA. What a great improvement in the headlights! However the driver side turn signal no longer works. It worked great when first installed but now nothing. The park lights work fine, the passenger side is fine but when the drivers side turn signal is activated there is a drop in revs at idle and the amp gauge deflects violently in time to the blinker unit. The rear turn signal is noticeably dimmer as well . Any suggestions?
  22. I'm in Edmonton, Alberta(Beaumont , actually, just outside of Edmonton) Itried to accept your friends request but It doesn't seem to work

  23. Thanks guys, I'm going to rebuild the suspension, everything appears to be 38 years old! Mark
