  1. Did my first competitive driving in 20 years with some auto cross at Castrol raceway here in Edmonton! Had a blast and much to my surprise placed first in SSM!! next year some beefier sway bars and R compound tires (oh and new alternator) ! Car is in storage right now with temps in -teens( I am in Honolulu!)
  2. Let us know when the car sells!
  3. If you were closer and the canadian dollar were stronger I'd love to make an offer. My son is trying to buy an S2000 at auction in Japan for a track day car, I'm trying to change his mind with this car!
  4. As soon as I saw the original post I knew this would stir up a hornets nest! Looks like the holes for hood emblem are there, and the steering wheel is correct, no cut outs. Only thing I can see is reupholstered door panels. I have a bunch of old emblems in good condition for whoever buys it!
  5. What is the asking price for everything?
  6. Too bad that you have to sell the car. Can't find somewhere safe to store it? You're going to regret letting it go! Mark

  8. Hey John , I agree with Mart, great story! I'm a rational person, but some occurrences just make you pause for a bit ! I can only hope I'm still enjoying my Zed when I'm 82! (holy cow, I mean 85!!!) Welcome to the club, love to see some pictures of Christine Mark

  11. Thanks, will check into that!
  12. Thanks Mike! 15 inch Enkei Compes on the way!
  13. Quick question, what is the thread pitch for the wheel lug nuts? Would 12 x 1.25 work? Thanks!
  14. Holy Crap Bart! You must have been sick to see that happening! It's something I think about every time I park my car. Hope you can get her fixed quickly!
  15. Not sure what to make of this, I really hope they don't follow through! http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2015/sports/nissan/370z/nissan-to-scrap-370z-replace-with-shock-suv-53409
  16. Kind of a strange story, but I was out cruising in my freshly rebuilt Zed yesterday when I noticed a truck up ahead suddenly pull over. The driver hopped out and frantically waved me down, he was so excited that I couldn't get a word in edge wise. Seems he had a 6/71 240Z that is no more. All he has left is the engine and transmission that he is desperate to get rid of! From his torrent of excitement at finding someone(me) to take it off his hands, FREE, I gleaned that it has less than 3000 miles on a rebuild, and that the tranny is "brand new". I did get his number, if anyone here is interested in it let me know and I'll post the number!
  17. I use Auto Glym glass polish and a clean microfiber cloth. Best results of anything I have used!
  18. Premium will no doubt be higher, but I have not spoken to the Insurance compay yet. I insure the car as a daily driver , but after it is parked for the winter I drop the comprehensive and collision, which saves some money. As Mike said, I am one of the first to have an appraised value that is more than the cost of restoration! This is not the car that was stolen, but they are both currently at the same shop! As for "itching for a drive", that is the biggest understatement of the year!!! I saw the Garage Squad 240Z episode on TV today, and the sound of that sweet engine had me climbing the walls in anticipation!
  19. I was hoping for 30,000 tops! Nice to know that I will be able to recoup my costs in the event of a total loss. According to Mike, the appraiser said that it was a very clean nearly showroom condition car, and that Zeds in this condition go for 50,000 or more. Not sure where he got those numbers, but I'll take it to the Insurers that's for sure! Montezuma, maybe you should aim a little higher on the resale of your car. Would love to see some pictures of it Mark
  20. Hey all, I just got an email from Mike at Whitehead performance. He is having my restored 1971 blue on blue 240Z appraised so I can update my insurance. I don't have the report in hand yet but it's going to be valued north of $50,000!!!!! I know I wouldn't get that price in a sale, but for insurance coverage thats great news! I'll be interested to see the report, It may be time for a review of your agreed value with your insurance company! Mark
  21. Thanks wheee! I'm going to post in general discussion the appraisal of the car, you may want to update your insurance!
  22. Too funny Blue! A Canadian legend!
  23. Jim, yeah, this is a blast! I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football! As you say it will be worth it in the end. Mike has a rebuilt 5 speed on the shelf ready to go, so hopefully next week it will be finally be done. However, my leave is almost over then, so it looks like I will be shipping it home. At least it will be in pristine condition when it gets here! As for the old tranny, I think I will just forget it! I will let you hang on to yours, I know where to find one when I want it! Mark
  24. Hey Chris, yeah only 1500!! Not sure there is much of a market for early 4 speeds in need of a rebuild! I'll probably bring it home a try my hand at rebuilding it myself.
