With your budget new wheels, fender mirrors, and flares would be cake to put on mine

In the hunt for an early Z 70/71/72/73
I have my Z listed for sale on our classifieds section. It runs and drives great and is an orangey yellow so it should check off a couple of your specifications. I have an A/C kit for the car that could go along with it, but isn't installed as of yet. Also, I just detailed it for a car show this weekend. It really couldn't get much shinier. 1972 240z, 1972, $ 12,000.00

S30 safety
I also used the Wesco roadster style seatbelts in my 240 and haven't had a bit of trouble out of them.

Where to buy...
I prefer this style of syncrometer over the ones shown above. It gives you an actual number instead of a position in a tube. So its faster and easier for me. Also it doesn't restrict the air into the motor. I have both, but always use the one below. Empi Air Flow Synchrometer - Dune Buggy Parts, Sandrail Parts, VW Parts - MooreParts.com

AutoZone and crap from China
I have had good luck for most harbor freight things. However, I usually only by crap that I intend to abuse from them. Also, my Napa doesn't get much business from me as their hours are way too short.

2013 Midwest Z Heritage, June 14-15, Nashville, INDIANA
Crap, thanks for letting me know there wouldnt be anything show related Sunday. Most of the car shows I go to usually go half Sunday and then awards. So I figured there would still be something to do and see. Thanks, hopefully I will be able to catch the next one.

I hope to make it up on Sunday. However, it looks like it will be too late to actually enter the show.

Trouble with ignition lock cylinder
I just went through a similar problem. before trying to replace the cylinder the locksmith actually cut me new keys just a bit shorter than the originals. This allowed them to actuate the tumblers at the proper depth. Unfortunately, this fix only lasted two weeks. After that I just replaced the cylinder with a $21 autozone replacement.

Ignition Cylinder Missing rocker Spring
Thanks for the offer. I got very lucky the locksmith actually found my spring. I have no clue how as the shop had parts strewn everywhere. Now that I replaced the spring the column lock pops back with a snap as soon as the key is fully removed. Before hand it slid out slowly after pulling the key.

Fire in the z!!!
Ouch, that stinks. It sure could've turned out a lot worse though.

Ignition Cylinder Missing rocker Spring
Thanks for the extra pics. I thought the spring rested in the cylinder underneath the rocker arm. From what I could tell the cam (round/flat bottom side) of the switch linkage is what allows the steering lock to engage/disengage. When the key is any position past off it is disengaged. I will give them a call just in case they found the spring, but if not I will hit up the home depot. Thanks again

Ignition Cylinder Missing rocker Spring
My ignition cylinder pooped out this week so I brought it by the locksmith for disassembly. Either they lost the rocker arm spring or it wasn't there in the first place, but it is gone now. I was able to get everything put back together and it appears to work properly. Will missing the spring for the rocker arm cause any serious issues? I would hate for my steering to lock up going around a turn or something else bad. Also, I stole this pic from Captain Obvious's thread.

Looking for my first Zcar
I have my Z listed on datsun classifieds if you have any interest in it. I haven't bothered to list it on Ebay yet as I am not in a major rush to get it sold. It drives great and pretty well everything on the car has been refurbed or replaced. 1972 240z, 1972, $ 12,000.00

Your Fuel Mileage???
I have a close ratio 5 speed and get 17-18 city and 24-27 highway. No other mods to speak of.

illegal drivers
I think half of my insurance cost goes to unisured/underinsured motorist coverage. It is horsesh*t about how people will get coverage for a day so they can renew their plates and immediately cancel it.

Rear Main Seal Part Number
I used rtv on my side seals and the inside edges of the block. No leaks so far. Whoever, replaced them the first time left it dry and they eventually leaked.

When to stop with "while this is off, may as well fix that too"
Luckily, I had a good winter to just hammer through most of the while you are at it work. Since that point I really only work on things that have broken or are safety related. The funny part is I thought I drove the crap out of my car this summer, but I only put 1000 miles on it since March of last year.

Quick Question on Rims.
I remember when 17's first hit the mini-truck scene. They were huge and mega expensive.

Spindle Pin Woes
This makes me really glad that my pins were replaced by the idiot previous owner. They managed to leave out the locking pins and didnt bother to tighten any of the hardware, but at least it was done. I ended up pulling mine and coated them with some anti-sieze just in case they ever needed to be replaced. Good luck

Australian Seafoam Treatment
I don't think that will suck into the vacuum booster.

Gonna Buy a New Car
Get a 2013 mustang....then get tired of it and sell it to me after dropping off 8k in depreciation costs. I test drove one a few months ago and loved it. It felt amazingly huge compared to the 240, but it was pretty stinking nice. According to Autoweek a turbo charged BRZ is right around the corner, so I would hold out for one of those if nothing else fit the bill. I will also recomend a WRX. Mine was a blast for the couple of years I had it. Though I did get tired of all the ricer fly bys from idiots.
