77 and 78 door weatherstripping NOT SAME?
Presuming this is for a 280Z coupe, rather than a 2+2, I think this is the relevant fiche page (item #44), unless you mean the weatherstripping around the door sash itself. The attached fiche illustrates a couple of part numbers (assuming the weatherstripping is black), from 08/76 onwards, which can be used interchangeably. From the scan these look like 76801-N4600 and 76803-N3400.

Question - Wheel Chocks
Not sure if I'm correct, but I think the folding ones were supplied with the 2+2 and the non-folding units were for the coupe.

S30 Gas Tank - Paint Finish
Here are a couple of photographs of a NOS S30 tank for reference, albeit a later version, but the same finish as on a 1971 model.

cool 240z postage stamp
The graphics on the stamp look remarkably like these two publications, one from "On Four Wheels", which seems to have been published in 1977, and the other from a UK, 1974, Datsun 260Z brochure.

A Theory - RHD HS30 Model Standard Exterior Rear View Mirror Fitment
In the UK, certainly later 240Z and 260Z cars did not come from the factory with mirrors installed. The mirrors were fitted in the UK either by the importer or dealer. The mirrors used were branded "Pardat", but were manufactured by "Autosafe" for Datsun. Pardat branded items were sold in Datsun dealers and included aluminium wheels and other accessories. The "handed" door mirrors were universal fitting and were generally used across the Datsun cars range throughout the 1970's. You can see from the photographs that each mirror was provided with three interchangeable bases, which were marked ""FLAT" "CONVEX" or "CONCAVE". All the installer needed to do was to select the appropriate base to suit the contours of the door, hence their universal use. Jeremy.

Mysterious stamp on top of gas tank
Thanks Bonzi Lon, I was expecting the date stamp on the tank I have to incorporate a number from "49" to "52", being 1975 to 1977. I have noticed the mysterious "S" on some other parts too, including hand painted on a NOS R200 (not mine) differential in white paint.

72 240z exterior door handle rubber bits
I had a look at my (European market) fiche, but the door pull rubber is not listed separately from the door handle itself (see attachment). I also checked on my JDM fiche and the door handle rubber is not listed separately. One assumes they are integral to the door handle assembly itself.

What does 1977 280z shift knob look like?
Although I am not suggesting that the knob shown in the photographs below is a perfect match for either of the stock 280Z red-topped shift knobs, the part may still be available in the US as an alternative to the NLA original. As you can see, the red shift pattern insert is identical to the original, but the body finish is different. Part number is C2865-U4200. Hope this helps.

What does 1977 280z shift knob look like?
Having had a closer look at the 5-speed shift knob, I believe it is actually manufactured from hard rubber, rather than stitched leather, similar to the perimeter of late model S30 steering wheels. If one looks closely at the first photograph in post #7 above, there is a moulding line about half way between the top and bottom of the shift knob.

What does 1977 280z shift knob look like?
I believe the 280Z shift knob illustrated in ZCurves post is a later style, used on 5-speeds manufactured from 01/78, the part number being 32865-U4200. The later style shift knob is not split into three (possibly leather-stitched) segments like the earlier style red-topped shift knob illustrated in the attachments below (factory fitted to my late 1977 built car). The earlier part number is 32865-U4100 and runs up to a 12/77 manufacture date. My car is a UK model, and in this case the earlier style shift knob was used on cars manufactured from 08/73 (the very great majority, and I believe all of the later UK cars were factory five speeds).

Looking for fuel filter bracket
Steve, That fuel filter bracket is for a 240Z. Don't you have a late 260Z, which has a different style bracket? Otherwise, I do have a NOS 240Z bracket like the one in the picture (except factory black finished and still with the Nissan part number on it), that I inadvertently bought years ago, thinking it would fit my late 260Z. Jeremy.

Brakes: Restored! Not just rebuilt...
I was looking through various parts today and came across this NOS S30 caliper. Interesting that my UK (and evidently Europe too) car had a different finish to the caliper (as seen in the French text brochure attachment which illustrates a flat grey, rather than bright finish) than US models, unless there were year variants (this caliper has a 1977 manufacture date on the box).

When Did They Switch to the Internally Oiled Cam?
My UK (right hand drive) parts book advises that the spray bar was fitted up to a manufacture date of February 1977, but no reason to suggest other markets were different.

Looking for RHD hood latch and cable, HELP
For UK right hand drive (RHD) cars from 05/72 to 07/73 the hood (bonnet) latch assembly (not the guide retainer, which I assume is satisfactory) is part 65610-E8700 (the parts book calls it "ASSY - HOOD LOCK FEMALE"). The cable assembly with fixing bracket and knob is 65640-N3000. From 08/73 the latch assembly is also 65610-E8700, but the cable assembly from 08/73 is part 65540-N3000 to 08/74 which then becomes part 65640-N3410. In the UK we have RHD cars, so try either the UK Z Club: http://zclub.net/ or perhaps MJP Eastern Auto: http://www.mjpauto.com/ although I suspect new parts are no longer available.

bolts to cover holes from removed bumperettes
My car, a UK model (late 1977 260Z as in the brochure images), has rubber plugs fitted to the front overrider holes (Nissan P/N 62689-21000 will fit). At the rear, the wrap-around bumper rubbers simply extend over the overrider holes (see images from a couple of UK brochures).

Post Your Original Decal Pictures Here
First picture is of more of a detail than a decal from an underhood inspection lamp (26410-E4101). Second picture is a late model (1977 260Z) antifreeze decal (different from the one posted earlier in this thread by g9m3c). Final picture is from of a later style jack (post 09/74).

Need Euro/UK F&R Turbo spoiler !!!!!Help!!!
esprist, You could try Mike Feeney at MJP Eastern Auto, based in the United Kingdom. I have purchased a number of parts from him for my 260z, but he does cover the later ZX cars, too. The link to his website is: http://www.mjpauto.com/

Day/night feature on Euro rearview mirrors?
Mike et al, I did not think I had a copy of a UK 240Z owner's manual, but I have found one (although the model years are not evident in the publication). As you will note from the scan, the day/night rear view mirror was standard fitment, as Alan noted in his earlier thread. There was no option for the non-day/night rear view mirror until, presumably, the post October 1977 (260Z) models, when part number 96321-N3500 appears. I found a specification sheet for a 260Z 2+2 and as you will see, like my car, this is not equipped with the day/night rear view mirror variant. Jeremy.

Day/night feature on Euro rearview mirrors?
Mike, It would appear our non-day/night mirrors are slightly different. Although they both have the same markings on the left-hand side (looking at the rear), the one on my car has additional inscribing on the right hand side. I suspect the "E2" markings on my mirror may have something to do with the product being used in Europe (E = "Europe"), whereas the earlier type of mirror may not have required this information. As the mirror in my car would have been produced later, legislative changes may have required the markings to have subsequently been applied to it. Other than the right hand (from rear) marking differences, they appear identical. Unfortunately, I do not have a UK owners manual for the 240Z, or first 260Z's, so cannot determine if the non-day/night rear view mirrors were optional in the earlier cars, but suspect that they were. Regards. Jeremy.

Day/night feature on Euro rearview mirrors?
Mike, Thanks for posting up this information. Further to your request, please find attached a scan of my fiche book (scan one, which is the final version, printed in 1979) relating to the "R-Drive" rear view mirror variants from the first to the final cars. The second and third scans show the non-European and European options respectively up to 1973, with the subsequent scan (four) illustrating the post-August 1973 fiche. I have checked on my 2003 Nissan FAST CD and part number 96321-N3500 does not supersede, although part number 96321-E8300 does, with the subsequent reference being 96321-0T500. Regards. Jeremy.
