Here's a pic of the far right nut on my first pic. The inside is a hard rubber material.

Label where everything came from- Nuts, bolts, wires, etc. and just do it. That's what i did. When the dash is out, you'll see how the speedo/tach is attached. Learn by doing. I put numbers on the wires. Like number 5 on the male wire socket and number 5 on the female wire socket. I also drew pictures and attached them. Manuals will help. Mine is a 71Z. Good luck, TimsZ

I am going to put a low pressure cutoff switch on my 71Z. I got a brass T and a nipple from Home Depot. I can not get the nipple threaded in the block. It threads into the T fine. The oil pressure sender threads into the T and the block just fine. The nipple just won't go in the block. I held the nipple and the oil pressure sender up, side by side and the threads look the same. Same pitch, etc. I don't get it. Has anybody had any trouble like this or have you used something else? Thank you, TimsZ

The part on the far right in my first pic. has like a hard rubber where the threads should be. The threads are imbedded in the rubber somewhat. It's a 71 rack and pinion.

Is this the way this should be put back together. I can't tell from manuals. I thought i put them in the right series when i was working on it, but i must not have. The way i had them before, the side rod bar wouldn't tighten up. How tight should the side rod bar be? The bar with the ball on the end. It has the measurement in the manuals. Something like .22 or something. But how tight is that? Should the bar stick straight out when tightened or be able to flop around a little, having a little play? Does the locknut go in the middle? Any help? Thank you very much, TimsZ

I am going to put electric fans in my 71Z. Is their 2 types of sensors? I was going to use a thermostat housing from a 280ZX. I see engine coolant temp. sensor and i see water temp. sender. Are they the same thing or do they have a separate function? I read the best place to put sensor is between radiator and thermostat. Didn't i read that someone put a sensor in the engine block. I'm going to use Nissan sensor. I have dual Spal fans with digital temp sensor. Upgraded wiring. Any help? Thank you very much, TimsZ

By the choke levers there's 2 light symbols with a P in each light symbol. There's an (ON) for each light symbol. The PO took some switches out and put his own in. What is that switch for? Or is their 2 switches since there's 2 ON's? Any help? Thank you, TimsZ

  14. I don't have any metal snaps on the passenger side tunnel, where the emergency brake boot attaches to. Would anyone know how these metal snaps are connected to the tunnel? 71Z. Thank you, TimsZ

Could someone tell me where the wiring harness should be located in the interior passenger side. From the firewall to the hole behind the seat. Does it lay against the rocker panel? Does it go under the seat? Does the emergency brake wire go behind the seat? 71Z Thank you very much, TimsZ

I have a 280ZX F54 block I want to put into a 71Z. What mounts do I use? Is there 2 or 3 parts to each mount? Do I use the bracket and insulator or do I have to use the bracket, the insulator and the stopper between the bracket and insulator. Thank you, TimsZ

  20. I can't find any info on this. Could someone tell me what the master vac hose is for. The hose with the check valve. It connects to the engine (right)? If you have a pic, that would be great. Any basic info on its function would be great. 71Z. Thank you very much, TimsZ

Could someone tell me the difference( different switches, etc.) between a 71 thermostat housing and a later 81ZX housing. I've looked, I really can't find any info. I see the 71 has 2 bolts to hold coolant outlet on. ZX has 3. Thank you very much.

Can someone help me? I need head bolts for my car. I see ARP bolts listed A12 and A14. What's the difference? The A12 is part no. 202-4202. The A14 is 202-4203. I've also seen to use 202-4206. I've searched and I tried to contact ARP by E-mail and phone with no luck. I have a F-54 block. Thank you, TimsZ

In the book How to modify your nissan/datsun engine, it says to apply anti-seize to front cover gaskets and to front cover portion of the head gasket. It also says to coat block side of the oil pan gasket with anti-seize. The other side with weather adhesive. What is the anti-seize compound? Is it the same you put on threads? I was going to use permatex for water pump, thermostat. Hylomar, etc. for flat surfaces. Thank you.

Thank you very much. Didn't think about maintenance every once in a while. Lubing threads with brake fluid. TimsZ
