got rid of a my '73 10 years ago and got this shortly thereafter. looking for a way to dupe the wife into letting me get another Z. i'd even be happy w/ a 2000 roadster. hmmm, an old Dino would be nice, or a late 356, or ... ...you went and got me started

personally i'd say "someone went through alot of trouble to make sure these parts are right" ...and i know you description is hypothetical, but here is #19 and no it's not mine, so you have nothing to worry about

i get what you mean Unkle. i don't neccessarily disagree, but i didn't (and don't think others who would take on something like this) take on some of these challenges to dupe judges. they fulfill a need for enthusiasts. from my view, it's pointless to reproduce something that's just o.k. for the throttle knob, well over 50 hours went into the initial production and mold. i made it numerous times before the fit and finish was right on the money. some of the first ones may have been acceptable, but i'm sort of stupid that way. i won't even get into how many hours i spent on the gas lid knob. while i thank Jim for his compliments, and acknowledement of the time i spent in recreating the things i have, the bottom line is that a judge with a keen eye could tell the difference. (the chromed gas lid knob being the exception-that thing is freakin flawless) i won't elaborate. that's the judge's job:D

wasn't that the point of the original post? (even though this one's been available for quite some time now) who woulda thunk a simple hobby could cause such controversy? -Bryan

sorry to jump ahead without a formal introduction, but i couldn't figure that section out. so, hey- i'm Bryan. i used to have a 73 and a 74, and hope to have another someday. right now , my 912 keeps me busy enough, so i will admire yours from afar. atleast i get to visit the Mecca at will anyway, i have a few pics from a few 2 years ago. i'll try to get some more for ya: so maybe it's not the nicest collection in the world, but i'm betting it is. p.s. i uploaded them for full size viewing in the "my gallery" section
