Nissan Motorsports square port header gasket NLA
This is great timing! My exhaust bottomed out on a gas station on the way to Thunderhill and now I have an awful header leak... again. I will have to try this gasket, hopefully 3rd times a charm!

240z wheel size
I can't remember but I believe I found this graphic on HybridZ in the wheel show thread, I constantly refer back to it. It has been immensely helpful 8" width with 0 offset is about the limit on stock size coil springs. In other words, 4.5" backspace is about the limit. 225/50R16 seems to be the standard tire for 16x8. Seems like some rub on the front valance, some don't. Some need to roll the fenders, some don't I have read if you're running the 2.5" coilovers, you can manage 5" backspace. hope this helps DISCLAIMER: This is going purely on memory from tons of reading on hybridZ. The best way to test is by measuring your clearances

Looks great! Tuned carbs and a working choke are nice things to have. It probably feels like a totally different animal. All the little improvements do add up in the end

Techno Toys?
My friend went wild and bought nearly everything that T3 makes for the Z cars except for the rear diff conversion. The front control arms and tension rods are very stout. He is still working on the coilovers but I would definitely consider Techno Toy for my own car after seeing what he received. Other friends also use Gabe's AE86 stuff and they are not easy on their cars running drift, grip, and skid pad ZCC has some nice looking products too, I don't have personal experience with them though (I have them book marked though)

I agree, they are both looking good to me

Howdy from MA! Not-so-new Z owner
Awesome, I like the idea of the carb'ed turbo. It definitely has an old school cool touch. I'd hardly call an RB26 a cop out... that's still a pretty involved swap

Welcome! Clean car! A blow through triple carb setup sounds pretty ambitious. I have seen blow-thru info on HybridZ (if you aren't already a member). I like this forum and hybridz for my help. Be sure to search hybridz before posting questions... there are quite a few very large threads that will have more than you ever wanted to know about some topics

Any Carb guys in the NC Triangle area
First keeping it simple, have you made sure your timing/advance is set properly? Is the mechanical advance working? I am guessing the mechanical advance is doing something if it goes after 2K What fuel pump and fuel pressure are you running? Then, are the carbs balanced? Do you know what jets are in the carbs?

Vendor Recommendation
My buddy got his Tokico HTS inserts from Beta Motorsports, great service and John C is active here and on HybridZ http://www.betamotorsports.com/index.php Sales tax for us but the prices are good Good lead on that site though, there are so many online you eyes can go crossed.

73 Tach Differences - 3 or 4 wire?
Now that looks a lot like the picture I took of mine back when I first joined. My car has a 6/73 production date

How do I get rid of that old musty odor?
I think he meant Ozium. I used to use this stuff all the time in just the manner he was talking about. Spray into car and close the door. My old Camaro would get a little musty/mildewy smell after a while so I'd spray and let it do its thing http://www.atmosphereproducts.com/product_images/ozium/index.html Original scent was the best if I recall, it really doesn't take much to fill the room. It is pretty strong at first, but like Jack said, let it sit and you'll be surprised. Also, like he said, if you don't find the source, it will likely return after a while

New from Norcal
Hi Jim, happy to help. My schedule after work has been sporadic because of holiday shopping... trying to find some inspiration. I'll let you know when I'll be going, and try to give some notice. I am hoping the weather is clear on Thursday, I've been thinking about going to that south bay meet that's on Craigslist. If you've driven down 7th, you've probably passed by the shop. They're on 7th between Market and Adeline, and have the big graffiti mural on the side (opposite one of the Acorn towers). http://performanceoptions.net/Contact.html

I think we lost some of the proportions when it was made taller/narrower. I can't quite nail it down, but something went strange with the resize.

New from Norcal
Welcome! I am out in Walnut Creek but work in Emeryville. I do some work on my car at my friend's shop in Oakland, down near the West Oakland Bart station (there's actually a 280Z there now with an RB25det getting wired up). There might be another one in there soon getting all the T3 (Techno Toy Tuning) suspension installed. They are big into the old school Japanese cars. Do yourself a favor and download the service manual for your car here http://www.xenons30.com/reference.html The FSM has been a huge help on my '73. There are other east bay folks on here too

I grabbed the 240Z sample and tweaked it in Paint. I only changed what I was trying to describe in my first post. I don't have photoshop here at home but you get the idea. It's very subtle, which is why I tried to emphasize them as only nit picks. I'd still rock it

Question about flywheel and clutch
I've been curious about this ebay seller as well as the package he has available. I couldn't find much either here or on hybridz, it's a great price though

Ball joints from MSA !
I have personally had great service when calling MSA. I would call back and explain the situation again. You may also check what's available at your local auto parts houses. What you received certainly does not sound like what is pictured... http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/SSSC01A02/23-4301 Many cars these days do not have 'serviceable' ball joints, or are 'sealed for life'.

Air ducts
I was also a little disappointed that I couldn't get heat from the panel vents. They are still nice to have though. My old Camaro didn't have sophistication like floor/defrost blending for heat

These are easily the closest yet. To do a proper nit pick, the zero's need the very slight upper and lower radius. I can't tell in the photos, does the '2' needs a smooth radius transition between the curve and flat (on inside of angle)? Still, nit-picks aside, those are very good.

Great service indeed Patience is definitely important for the older cars as I have learned over the years. You are going to love having fresh, and balanced, carbs.

Help no heat
Are you certain your heater core is not plugged? If anyone ever used stop leak or any of that cooling system leak stop stuff (Bars), that could have easily plugged or restricted heater core flow. Age and/or lack of coolant changes can contribute to that too if I recall 260CaliZ also makes a good point about the control valve being restricted internally.

What wrong with this set up?
hm now that you mention the size, it doesn't seem as bad. 205/50/15 is not much smaller than my 205/60/14. I going to go out on a limb and say it probably looks better in person, and even better on stock fenders. Just think smaller tires are like doing gears

When I was still getting my car running on the round tops, I propped up my center console and pulled the choke cable completely out of the sheath. Once out, I cleaned it thoroughly and applied some light grease I have for door strikers and hinges. I fed it in the sheath and back out again. I wiped the cable with a shop towel and repeated the the process until the amount of black particles left on the towel was negligible. Once clean, I applied a small amount of grease to the cable and put everything back together. It made a world of difference.

Strange noise in my modified L28
Hey Guy, have you had any luck diagnosing this noise?
-
What wrong with this set up?
I agree, the tires are too short when combined with those large molded flares. The tires also look to have a stretch and everything is lost in the wheel wells.
