opinion on rota rb 16x7
Agreed, a 17" wheel looks drastically different on our cars. I believe there is one user here and on hybridZ that runs the 17x8.5 +4 at all 4 corners. I can't remember which suspension he's running but if I recall, it fits... kinda. I think his tires rub but it's been a while. I think he posted in the other recent Rota RB thread. Definitely need to settle on a look you like because my vote for the 16x8 doesn't mean squat if you don't like the look

opinion on rota rb 16x7
I run the 16x8 et4 (+4) at all 4 corners. He likely has the +4 offset on those. The +10 version has the same face but I believe you need a small spacer to clear. My car is low and my fenders are not rolled. At stock height they never rubbed and as it sits now, it only rubs lightly in the rear (no cutting of the tire). I vote for 16x8 +4 all around. You can't rotate a staggered wheel for tire life and a 205/55 or 205/50 will mount fine on a 16x8. They are a little narrow but mine have been fine... I run 205/50/16. I also prefer the more concave and dished face of the RBR's as well as the more stout/aggressive look of the 8" width.

wheel offsets
http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp Here's one I've used a lot. Remember to keep backspacing in mind if you're staying with stock struts (not coilovers). If I could remember where I found this graphic I would give the person credit. I didn't make this. I believe I saw it first on hybridZ You can also use the group buy size Rota RB-R's as a good visual reference with flares. If I recall there's a long thread on hybridZ from people who are running them.

Nice slammed 260Z
I drove my car around Buttonwillow on black Friday this year and it was great fun. I really love that track. I didn't have problems with bump steer but maybe I wasn't driving fast enough. I don't drift my Z, I can't afford to mess it up. My car is pretty low, but not low like some of these guys. I kept it high enough to still have some bump travel and I do have bump steer spacers. By the way Jon, I love the coilovers, thanks again for the help I personally like the low look, it's not really about being different. It's just one of the current styles. Styles come and go

It might be pretty cool at Fort Mason. The parking garage was like walking through carbon monoxide death. Tons of cars at the last show though, so many people came through. The line went around the building

Jdm exhaust muffler
It's really the middle muffler (resonator?) that hangs low. The muffler and tips look great but the middle pipe is just low Glenn, when is he putting the bigger wats on? It's looking good

Sorry if re-post. Wicked 74 Z. RB Mikuni's
certainly a polarizing look

Jdm exhaust muffler
It is, and it does sound awesome. Glenn is right though, it does hang a bit low. He is on coilovers though so his car is pretty low

The RB30 block with the 26 head is supposed to make some good power. That car is pretty cool, I wish they would have taken a picture of the rear suspension after saying it was a custom rear subframe.

Sweet, that's Kenny's car, he works for Fatlace. My friend's shop fixed the wiring on the 4AG swap and did the suspension/alignment for him. I like the TE Corolla's a lot, most of the 86 parts will bolt right on. This is my friend's race car, the only car there with carbs. They took off the slicks in the back to see if it would slide. The verdict, it does better running grip but was still a lot of fun. http://fatlace.com/slammedsociety/events/word-up-yo/attachment/p1140476/

Rota RB-R 16x8 +10 with 225/50/16 tires
Thank you Stephen! I know the styling is not for everyone but I love the old school look with some modern touches. My friends all drift so their tastes have rubbed off on me a little. I like the low, and somewhat menacing look but it needs to be functional. Pretty soon the 'go' will match the handling and look I still think your car looks great. The silver accompanied with the now original signal indicators, BRE style spook, and Panasports just works. So so clean I also have a huge amount of respect for the stock guys because I can't leave anything alone

Rota RB-R 16x8 +10 with 225/50/16 tires
by the way, lucasbp, your car is looking good! As far as I know, 240 struts and hubs are all the same though the series 1 cars have a different steering knuckle (shorter/quicker ratio).

Rota RB-R 16x8 +10 with 225/50/16 tires
Hi Guys, I have the RB-R's in 16x8 et4 (+4) and they fit perfectly. I mounted them before my coilover conversion and there was plenty of space. I am running 205/50/16 General Exclaim UHP's and they grip nicely. I went with the +4 because I wanted to fill out the wheel well as much as I could. I like my wheels to look a little more aggressive but this is still a functional flush look. I only rub a little in the back as low as the car sits now, it never cuts into the letters or anything. I didn't use any spacers. When you think about it, adding the 5 or 6 mm spacer basically makes the end result a +4 offset. No fender rolling here either. I really drive it, it's fine on the street and a bunch of fun on the track. When I install a stereo, I'll probably drive it even more Before I lowered: DSC_0076-modified by AYates Photos, on Flickr After the coils: DSC_1252 by AYates Photos, on Flickr DSC_0885 by AYates Photos, on Flickr

Nice slammed 260Z
Now worries, I personally prefer the original look he had with the torched fenders and black HRE's. It was more of a rat rod look than what it is now. Btw, you can see his new paint about half way down. This event was a ton of fun though a bit disorganized. My friends let me drive their cars on the skid pad http://fatlace.com/slammedsociety/events/word-up-yo/

You can always brace the center from behind. It wouldn't take much, you would probably only need to bolt a piece of bar to the car and have it snug against the air dam.

Nice slammed 260Z
Unless Yuta got a new car, this is a different car from his. I saw Yuta and car on Friday at Buttonwillow and the week before at the Fatlace WordUp gymkhana event. The paint has changed again since jccs though. But yes, his focus was style. I don't remember seeing the blue 260 at JCCS but I never did make it into the parking lot. We drove in the show from the hotel and never ventured into the lot Maybe I misinterpreted this though

Nice slammed 260Z
A lot of these guys drive their cars even this low. I drove to Buttonwillow on Friday (4 hours each way) and saw that Yuta was also at the event in his car. If you recall he has the other famous slammed Z. He's also in the bay area so he drove almost as far as I did for the event though he didn't drive the track. This car is pretty clean, I would hope it looks just as clean under the hood. The wheels and styling are certainly not for everyone though. Fatlace, Speed hunters and Motor Mavens usually have some good photography of cars.

Track day at Buttonwillow

Track day at Buttonwillow
This is becoming a tradition for black Friday for us but a local guy that owns Bob's Donuts in SF is a major car guy and hosts this track day every year. I signed up this year to run grip, there are grip and drift spots available plus skid pad. He even arranged so everyone would get a photo CD from the track photographers, which is totally awesome since I don't get to the track more than a couple times per year. I have to say this track is a heck of a lot of fun! Plenty of turns and it's a little tighter than Thunderhill so it's not as much of a top speed track. It's a 4 hour drive each way so I left at 3am and got home around 1am I still consider myself a track noob but here are my impressions. No problems with the Z at all and it handled very well. I have sectioned struts on my car now with 225 fr / 200 rr spring rates and Illumina's. I did poly bushings when I swapped the suspension out. I have yet to upgrade my sway bar so I had some body roll in the first session out. The shocks were set at 3 fr/4rr and I bumped them up to see if it would help. I have read these shocks are un-usable at 5 but 4 ff/ 5 rr seemed to help with the body lean. I feel the shocks worked better at 3/4 so I definitely want to budget for at least a front sway bar. The car understeered a couple times but that was mostly my fault coming in to a corner too hot for the line I was on. Sawed the wheel though, more gas and the car went right on through. The tires handled admirably and I am still happy with my choice. They are the General Exclaim UHP (ultra high perf summer) in the 205/50/16. A lower tread number would probably be better but these are great for a car that only see the track a couple times per year. They were very predictable and I could really feel what they were going to do. They complained audibly a few times going through the turns but they stayed composed. By the end of the day I was becoming more aware that I wasn't using all of the track in some turns so I was really practicing my lines and having some major fun at the same time. It was nice to be able to drive the **** out the car in a controlled environment. I attached some pictures from the photographer. I have to give them credit, they did a great job, I ordered the first one in a large print to take to work http://vanhap.com/

Rear toe
Did they give you a printout from the alignment rack? The Hunter system at my friend's shop has a nice printer so they can give their customers the results. Good for record keeping and good to track alignment settings for the racers/drifters

Enkei 92 Wheels
I'd still rock the originals if I found some (and didn't have my current rims). They were great wheels.

240z wheel size
Thanks Zeelander, I've got a fair amount of work in my suspension at this point, though not as much as some. You can see my build in this post http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39590 I converted to coilovers and sectioned the struts though I kept my insulators (slightly modified). What I have now is natural camber. When I revisit the suspension, I'd like to do adjustable control arms fr and rr and tension rods for some better alignment adjustment Thanks Glenn, you're right about the wheels but my tires are 205/50/16. They're General Exclaim UHP's, I love them so far

Love it or hate it
Looks like a good amount of engine work despite the owners lack of knowledge. It looks like he's running a wasted spark ignition with the triples. It probably goes pretty good if it's tuned well
