Great job, the paint looks amazing! I also have an early 260 and I am torn between keeping the original paint, which is not bad at all, or take it all down for a fresh coat of paint, you may have inspired me to change my mind.
  2. I was lucky enough to find an early 260 and although i have not driven it yet, I am sure I will enjoy it, never had a Z before so I rather not venture into any opinions! Car was a barn find along with an excellent price, that so far makes me really happy!
  3. Welcome and congrats, that is a sharp looking Z! even with the vinyl top, what were they thinking right? just amazing how some of these cars have survived so in an original condition! I am not painting my car for a while, even though it has more than a few dents, these cars will only be original once, and I would like to keep mine as original as possible. Good luck with your ZROFL
  4. Hi Jim: I would also be interested, my flat tops sat in a garage unused for at least 12 years, and alhtough they were gummy, after some cleaning they seem to be functioning, have not driven my car yet, and would be interested in any kind of factory modification available, don't want to give up on flat tops simple because everyone does.....no offense to anyone who has. Wow! sorry to hear about your tire misfortune, where I'm at I am getting the fat tires...BF Goodrich for $500.00 out the door, and I thought that was a great deal, specially since I am getting what I want.
  6. Welcome to da club! you may want to check a couple of the pick up parts in the Inlad Empire, I live in Pomona, and have quite a few wrecking yards withing a 20 mile radius, not specialized in Z's per say, but i have been able to score a few parts for my Z, check out Pick up Part in Fontana, and Ecology auto Wrecking in Fontana as well! good luck!

I was looking into rebuilding the booster myself, only because Black Dragon carries the kit to do so, but I have not set any time aside to tackle the project.

Nice well deserving purchase...welcome, fellow 260 owner here! not too many 260's around!
  10. I got a Wii....along with the Wii fit..........I guess there is a message there! no car stuff, but I was given a coupon for my BF Goodrich tires of my choice!

No Actually it was a white one, and it is by the Pep Boys on Holt, and this guy also buys and sells cars, not only z's, by the way he still has it, in my opinion because he is asking for too much $2200!
  12. Welcome to the site Dawg7, it is nice to see another 260 owner join, not too many of us! Your car looks great, I am sure that after the changes you will impletemt the car will be a blastROFL

you are after my own heart! I have a 260, I was lucky enough to find an early one 9/73, which looks a lot like a 240, and I have yet to regret my purchase! I have never own a Z before, but I am glad that I was able to find an unmolested complete car for me to take on the full restoration myself.

Regardless of what you paid, I believe you score yourself a nice ride, the interior alone is worth a lot, and your car's interior looks great! I'm a bit jealous actually, my 260's exterior is great; however the interior is shot! congrats though, hope you get to enjoy it for a long time!

for quite sometime I have been wondering how come there are not too many threads about the 260 here is my chance my car has a 9/73 manufacture date and RLS30-003099, and the small bumpers confirm it as an early 260!ROFLROFL
  16. Welcome Geoff, nice car, I'd live it alone if it were my car and enjoy it just as is, I am also in Pomona, not a big contributor to this site but I have found great advice, more of a stock guy myself.

congrats! I can relate to the feeling, but one word of caution even though I had gas spewing out of my flat top carbs, the problem stoped after crancking the car and leting it idle for a few days. I did not want to start pouring all kinds of money on my car just yet, just want to be wise about it. If you car idles fine before you turn it on spray some carb cleaner before and after that is what did the trick I think...just my 2cents.

Hi Eli: welcome, nice to see another local guy joining, I am in Pomona, which considered Inland Empire as well. I have been toying with Datsuns since I was 16, so I may have a few helpful tips for you when you need them, this club is also a great resource, good luck and welcome once again.
  19. VITAMIN Z replied to Polecat's post in a topic in Open Discussions
Congrats and welcome Polecat, I would recomend you get it to fire up first, secondly get the brakes re-built, register it and drive it, before considering an attempt on retoring the car, I have found that it is much easier when you tackle such a big project, in small steps, just my suggestion. I have been working on my car for the last 3 years now, and I have not even consider a restoration, I just fine with the car being mechanically functioning right now. Your car looks like it has great potential, keep us posted.
  20. I really like this type of stories, there are quite a few older cars driving around here by my work, i have even seen an original 67 Camaro and by the looks of it, the car is 100% original, down to the racing green paint. At 46 years of ownership this lady has driven this car an average of 12k a year, and I was hoping to acomplish a million miles on my '98 Altima but at this 12k rate it will take quite a few more years!
  21. VITAMIN Z replied to MidLifeCrisiz's post in a topic in Open Discussions
I agree, the cars is in great shape overall, specially the dash, however the undercarriage looks rough, and it looks like more actual miles may be on this car, price wise, I am frugal so I would estimate it at about 15k if this is an actual low milleage car. my 2 cents
  22. VITAMIN Z replied to DeMoore's post in a topic in Open Chit Chat
Wow 21 years, it only seems like yesterday when I first saw it at the Los Angeles convention center, it is too bad, but like the ad states it will remain an icon.
  23. VITAMIN Z replied to Polecat's post in a topic in Introductions
Congrats, my Z was a b-day present and had been in a garage for at least 12 years! I have to agree with Darrel, first try to get it to fire, a brake rebuild all around is a must and most parts for that are still available, as is the gas tank cleaning and fuel lines need to be flushed, so you will be busy for a while before you start hunting for the obvious things that you need. Just my 2 cents, I have been working on my Z for almost 3 years now! Good Luck.:classic:

  25. VITAMIN Z replied to mota z's post in a topic in Introductions
Welcome Chris, good find for the price, my 2 cents, just pace yourself and visit wrecking yards frequently, you never know what you will find, and good luck.
