While trying sort out issues with the Parking Lights and Side Markers on my 12/70 Series 1, I discovered that the wiring harness that connects those parts is in really bad shape. Insulation is torn, wires and frayed, and one of the side markers does not have connector at all. I took a look at the harness from my ’73 parts car, and it is in very good condition, but I’m not in a position to rewire the entire car at this time, which is what I would have to do since there are harness is a single run without a connector to simply switch out. I am considering surgery by cutting harnesses on both the ’70 S1, and the ’73 parts car, where they come through the front radiator wall and add a weatherproof connector to mate the two. I am also considering a “stop gap” repair by simply replacing the bad wires using solder. What are your thoughts?

That Gold Flake look on the hood is Great! Is that paint or gold foil? Awesome job. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Found this in a small hobby shop in Kyoto Japan last month. Had to buy it.

Thanks Johnny'O. Great Information Mate. I'm always up for a challenge.

I haven't had a chance to research this yet, but I plan to get underneath the car this weekend. I was hoping that I could get some ideas on possible causes before starting. The details, HLS30-17269 build date 12/70. Stock braking system. The rear reservoir (one closest to the firewall) ran dry, the front reservoir was slightly low, but was still 3/4 full. No visible signs of leakage around master cylinder or master vacuum. There are signs of leakage under the car, dripping down onto the top of the transmission, with splash moving toward rear of the car on the passenger side. No visible leakage on either wheel brake calipers or cylinders (looking through the slots in the mag wheels) . My initial thoughts are that there is a leak in the main brake tube that runs from the brake master cylinder to the rear wheels, which I believe runs down the transmission tunnel above the transmission. Is this tube a solid piece between the engine compartment and rear wheels? Does anyone know if there are any valves or connectors in that tube between the master cylinder and rear wheel proportioning valves. Jumping to worst case scenario, If there is a leak in the main tube, can this be replaces with parts available at my local AutoZone? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  7. So, the music in this video is not my speed, but my daughter loves the beat, and pointed out the "Fly" Z-Cars. I saw two cars, both appear to be LHD Z's probably out of Cali. They look great. Congrats to the lucky owners. btw, I had to look up what "Like a G6" was referring to, cause I thought 'Surely they're not talking about the Pontiac G6". What it seems is they are referring to the G6 refers to the Gulfstream 650, the fastest and longest range business jet available, made by Gulfstream Aerospace. In the end of video you see the group boarding a Gulfstream 650.
  8. Maybe I should dupe them and sell them for $11.95 a copy. Think I'll make any money?
  9. Thanks Glenn! I just ordered mine. Only 99, 236 left. Hurry Up All, before they're all gone!

Thanks Carl. It all makes sense now.
  11. Wondering if anybody has purchased the DATSUN 240Z WORKSHOP REPAIR SERVICE MANUAL ON CD off of eBay? Is it what it says it is? Is it easy to use, and easy to read? For $14.95, there's not much to lose.

Something must have changed between December'70 and May'71. My 12/70 (registered as a '71) S30 has the vertical wire defrosters, but I have the vented hatch and the 240Z in a circle side emblems.

Is that really a '71. The gas door looks correct, but the rear hatch and side emblems don't look as I would expect. Did these change between early '71 and late '71 cars?

Nice going Mate. Just the parts pictured are like hitting a jackpot. That brand new tire changing kit has got to be very rare. How's the rest of the car? Looks like it has a nice white interior. I'm as far away as you can get on the lower-48, but I've been searching for a good rolling-chassis with the white interior. They're hard to find in Florida.
  15. Best of luck Mate! Prayers and thoughts to you and your family.

    Congratulations! Looks Like FUN!
  17. Thanks Zed, I have a nice overbar and would love to know some basic measurements regarding where to drill holes to connect it to the bumper. I could eye-ball it, but I'm too much of a perfectionist, and would hate to screw it up. Thanks,
  18. Hi Folks, I am hoping to get some help from the community on the restoration of my Series 1 rear bumper. The first question that i have is: Is the rear bumper from a '71 exactly the same as the rear bumper from a '73? ...size wise? ...are the bumperette's in the same position? ...are the brackets in the same position? Differences? Next, Does anyone have detailed measurements of a '71 Series 1 rear bumper with bumperettes and the rear bumper overbar? Pictures and measurements please? Thanks, Auzziez.

Definitely at 260Z. Check out the big rubber bumper guards on the front.
  20. The 3 sets I ordered from Kiaparts.com are on backorder too.
  21. Are there two different part numbers, one for the right door and one for the left door, or is it the same part number for both doors and the hatch? Thanks.

That's what I was afraid of. I have a '73 parts car in storage that I will unwrap this weekend and measure up. Know anybody that needs a front override bar for a '73? :-)

Can somebody enlighten me on a couple of things regarding the front bumper of Series 1 Z Cars. I bought the front bumper override bar off e-bay, but it is several inches too short. 1) Is the placement of the "Bumperettes" different in cars from 1969-1971 versus 1972-1973? 2) What is the distance between the "Bumperettes" from the inside of one to the inside of the other in '69-'71 cars? same for '72-'73? Thanks!
  24. If you're interested in the car, let me know. I live less than 5 miles from Golden Classics. I may have to go by to check it out myself.

Five and Dime, I'd appreciate a few words :bulb: on what you did to prep the air cleaner for the repainting. It looks great. Auzziez
