  1. I'm running the same wheels and like the way the Michelin Energy MXV4's ride. Great traction. Little road noise, and they sit a little wider, giving the car a solid look.
  2. It a Big Time Mess...Only solution is to trade cars! :-)
  3. Carl, I've got to imagine that Jim Frederick has a Z or two with the override bars on front or back. do you know if so? If you think so, I can PM him to ask if I can drop by to take some measurements so I can drill before sending the bumpers out for chrome. Tony
  4. Great Feedback. I like the look of the one on the rear, and I have to send the rear bumper out to fix a small dent and new chrome, so I was going to send out the "towel" bar and front bumper at the same time. I don't have holes drilled. If anyone is interested in "unloading" a front bar, I will pay for shipping.
  5. Thanks guys. I came across one and am trying to decide if I should put it on, or not. Thoughts?
  6. ]I'm interested to find information about the Series 1 Bumper "Override" Bar. To describe it, it is a chromed tube, strategically bent, that connects to the rear bumper of a Series 1 Z. I'd like to know a few things like: 1) Is it factory or dealer option? 2) Which year cars did it come on? 3) Is there such thing as an "override" bar for the front bumper" 4) Like it? or Leave it? Does anybody have detailed pics and measurements for fitting an override bar onto a rear bumper. I appreciate any/all help. Thanks! The picture shows the override bar on the classic oldschool Z (that's the one in front )

Before applying your decal, make sure you Check, Check and Re-Check your placement. I use a dull #2 pencil to mark the layout. Measure from the bottom of the rocker panel using a seamstress tape (cloth measuring tape). I use 3M painters tape to hold the measuring tape in place, then measure up and mark. Along the door, you should also measure from the bottom of the door sill. I then use a laser level to check that my marks are level across the panel. Once you've marked it out, step back and eyeball it. There's nothing worst than a crooked stripe on a car. Good Luck.
  8. I don't see any of Jim Frederick's ZMecca cars listed in the registry. I think he owns around "100" Series 1's himself.:classic: OK, maybe 15-20

Great thing about Jim is that he's very willing to share his expertise. If anyone is interested, he has a number of show-quality parts that he's painstakingly restored and replated out on ebay. Check out ebay seller name: jim240z3cgt

I haven't seen the items yet. The guy isn't in a hurry. He won't deal, so I'm just trying to get an estimate to see if the price we discussed is in the ballpark of "a decent price".

I came across a non-Z owner who found mint condition literature consisting of original window sticker, original warranty card, original bill of sale and original owners manual for HLS30-00517? What do you think this is worth to a serious Series 1 owner?
  12. No Problem Derek. Can I caption your photos? Send me a one liner if you'd like. Tony Vallin a.k.a. Auzziez
  13. Here's a few more pics from the party at Bill's this Saturday in Gainesville FL (10/24/2009). Thanks to Bill for setting it up. Even though the day started out drizzly and stayed overcast, it was a great turnout of gorgeous Z Cars and a few other rightfully great vehicles. I plan to put comments on the photos, so if you have any details on the cars in the pics, send them via the comments, or by PM to me and I will post it. Enjoy the pics. See you next year. http://picasaweb.google.com/ValFamFla/BillCoffeySGarageParty6AndCarShow
  14. I am posting pics from Bill Coffey's Garage Party 6 and Car Show held at Bill's garage in Gainesville FL on Saturday 10/24/2009. Firstly, Thanks to Bill for setting it up. Sorry if this was already posted. Good article on Hagerty's website about the Japanese Classic Car show in Irvine CA. http://www.hagerty.com/lifestyle/hobby_article.aspx?id=58172#
  16. Does anybody know the paint color code of the orange used to paint the original air cleaner of a '70 240z? And, where I can get that paint? Thanks.

I like the fender flares too. can anybody provide some information about those? Are they easy to put on, Are they screwed in, or do they just look it. I'm running the OEM slotted mags on my '70, how wide should the tires be so that the flares don't look too big for the wheels?

Thanks for that info. The '70 does have the 4 screw carbs and the '72 carbs are 3 screw carbs. And, I didn't even realize it until I just went out and looked, the parts car doesn't have the air horn cover. Basically, the previous owner took the cover off, but left the backing plate on, and then the OEM air filter is there, covered by a piece of flat aluminium in the same shape as the air filter. Not sure why that is...oh well.

I'm not familiar with the term 3-screw or 4-screw SU's. What does that mean, and how do I know what I have. I have 2 sets, one on my new '70 Z, and another from a '72 Z, on my parts car '73. Also, I'd be interested to know if you guys prefer to run separate air cleaners on the carbs, or if the original cleaner housing (big orange cover) is used more often?

Mike, I'd love to see pictures. I have a whole AC system in an old 73 parts car that I am dismantling. The compressor is well preserved, but the evaporator and other parts may not be in as good of shape. Seeing what you had to go through will help me decide how much an undertaking it will be to put it into my new '70. Regards, Tony
  21. I spoke to this guy on the phone. The car was advertised some 2 months ago on Craigs List and he wanted an email address/phone number and he did contact me. I use a separate email address to catch SPAM etc. Anyway, I suggested that I'd go look at the car since I am in Tampa and, at that time, the car was supposedly in Deltona, FL, which is closer to Daytona, FL in the NorthEastern part of Florida (more or less). I didn't go see it because I found a car here in the Tampa/St. Pete area, and I let him know that. Now the car appears to have moved to Plantation, FL which is closer to Ft. Lauderdale, SouthEastern part of Florida. Although there may be a car there, there's something fishy about this guys ads.
