  2. Ok, I know that i've said it before, but the Z has to go now...within 2 weeks!!! If anyone wants to see it they can call me and see it this weekend (just be prepped for a bit of a drive, its about 40-50 k's out of melbourne on the east side)... It's going for $3500 (and I want to let you guys know first before the trading post etc, so you won't find it in there yet), and here are the features: -Stonking engine (new clutch and machined flywheel less the 15k ago) with 5 speed trannie -New brakes all round (again less than 15k ago) -Retrimmed seats (though a little dirty) -Ramflo filters on round tops (perfect condition) -2 1/2" exhaust -Restored dash with all instruments working -Stripped interior (the beginning of the resto) -Custom oil catcher -Original alloys x5 Unfortunately it has no RWC or reg (unregistered bout 3-4 months ago), and it has no battery as it was flat so I took it out cause it was gonna happen anyway! All I have to do is find the keys and we can fire her up (hasn't been started in a couple of months), though you might have to bring a battery, but believe me, the engine runs, and very well! I won't lie, it needs a bit of body work, but the mechanical package is excellent! If your interested, give me a call on 0421 790 172, and we can organise something (and so I can wash it its a bit dusty). Cheers ppl! *sob sob, no more z....*

Almost forgot, the rb25 I have seen with 510hp, stock internals... I personally wouldn't put one in my Z anyway, just giving my opinion for the average person who doesn't have $30k to spend on an engine conversion. Cheers ppl!

I've never heard of a bonnet clearance issue with the rb25...are you sure...anyway, I would probably go with the rb25 due to the fact that a) Alot cheaper (about half the price), There are more of them, c) The aftermarket parts are just as plentiful (contrary to popular belief), d) It'll make within a whisker less power when pushed than the rb26 [due to capacity]), and you only have one turbo to worry about, rather than the two on the rb26 (which means cheaper, only one to rebuild, less pipes, less hassle)...I'm not saying that the rb26 isn't good, cause it is that little bit better, but if you had an extra couple of grand to spend on the motor because you got one with 100cc less capacity, you could make it twice as powerful as the rb26! The power issue only really comes into play in the instance of chasing 700+ hp, where you'll be spending mega bucks and it probably wouldn't be a Z, but a purpose built streeter... Just my 2c... Cheers ppl!
  5. Excellent stuff mate, good to hear such a happy story! I know the feeling, though maybe not quite the mileage that you put into getting your Z home! Mine would go a little bit more like this though... New clutch and flywheel.....$600 New brakes front and rear...$700 Outrunning falcodores left right and centre.....PRICELESS Love the Z (Shame its being sold!) Cheers ppl!

Yeah, I do have a couple of pics, but very low qual, and I can't get more (someone broke into our house about a week ago and stole my laptop, video camera and digital camera!!)...I shall post them anyway... Cheers ppl!

I thought I'd put it onto you guys before I chuck it in the trading post, is anyone else interested? Cheers ppl!

Hi guys! Unfortunately due to personal reasons I have to sell the Z! Its a 2+2, 76' with a great engine(!), 5 spd box, good interior (no carpet though!), new clutch, new discs up front and new drums up back ($), original alloys, oil catch can (custom), ramflo air filters, sunroof etc..anyway, I want $3500 for it, its currently unregistered and it has no RWC, but thats cause I was doing it up! It has some rust in the sills (and a little bog in the sills), and a chip behind the left headlight scallop on the fender...its not perfect by any means, but a great project, or a brilliant spares car...I also comes with the original air intake and a restored steering wheel. If u wanna call me, email me or post here and I'll give you my number... Cheers ppl... PS George, don't give me $^!#!! I don't really wanna sell it!

Nice one george....don't think you'd get many women understanding it though! Cheers ppl!
  10. Anyone seen the 'Bruce Almighty' film with Jim Carrey in it? He drives a 260 2+2! But it gets smashed...I'm gonna kill the guy who sold it too them, it was in good nick too!! Still, I was watching in the cinema and I squealed when it came on...the better half shrank into her seat as everyone looked at me as my eyes glazed over and all I could see was Z! Cheers ppl!
  11. BHP re: Same as HP. 746 watts is 1 hp, so 0.746kW is 1 hp, so all you do is divide! The 260's actually still had the SAE rating in the engine bay, 162hp, but you also have to remember that the 260's had more emission gear attached to it, so its power is a bit less again...simple fix though, take the carbs off a 240 and slap em on the 260, or ditch the emission gear...or just get a turbo L28 with FI...best option...not my cup of Z though! Cheers ppl, glad I could be of help!
  12. Thats hp figure in your engine bay is the SAE figure...basically its the power rating of the engine minus everything that sucks any power (alternator, water pump etc)...just the short block basically, and then its dynoed on the flywheel....120.9 hp is the power figure with everything attached! Cheers ppl!
  13. Okay now... Most superchargers are compatible with the L series, it just a case of how much flow, how much money, how much power and how you want it! I personally would go the torbo route though...ever stop to think why porsches have twin turbos? Skylines? Ferrari F40? Its because they are a whole lot more flexible, powerful, more efficient, easier to get power out of, as well as being easier to modify! And since they don't live off of a belt, the suck of power is 0! But serious, heres what you want to do if you are gonna track race your car (or even street for that matter!)... Get yourself a nice, strong L series turbo (preferably rebuilt, shotpenned and with max(!) 8.5:1 compression), ditch the hairdryer and get yourself a T3/4 hybrid Garrett turbo (you can use HKS, Greddy, Turbonetics etc but they're all really made by Garrett anyway!)...fit on a big front mount intercooler (bout 400mm*600mm at smallest [thats 16inch*24inch]), upgrade your fuel pump to something bigger (if you buy a new pump off a mainstream big power car [re: American V8] it'll be cheaper, more plentiful and if it breaks, easy replacement!), get bigger injectors (RX7 injectors are great, don't know if they fit though....), fit a 3" exhaust, an electronic boost controller (screw type ones are ok, but electronic is by FAR AND AWAY better!), a new ecu (motec is good but $$$, microtech is cool, and Unichip make piggy back ecu's that bolt up to your old ecu and change the fuel and advance maps [re: very cool, and keep cold startup settings!])...now, get it all installed by someone who knows what they're doing, tune it, dyno it, tune it some more and when you're done fit some good tyres and make sure you're diff is strong, you should have at least 400hp!!! With room for a heap more, and you won't have much turbo lag! Have fun! Cheers ppl!

Do you want a 3" outlet due to the fact that you have an L28t, or just cause its racier for an NA motor? If your running an NA Z, I'd recommend a 2 1/2" exhaust for starters...then whatever you want for a muffler...all the same straight throughs (unless they're offset, don't get one of these for racing)..so get one that is lightest! Cheers ppl!

  24. Oh christ...this is shocking...I haven't been on for a few days and look what happens! I know now after reading the posts that you are getting better, but I know just how you feel as I have been in a motorbike accident, and my brother shattered his spine riding off a 40ft cliff on one into a rock quarry! Fstr240z, take care and know that my thoughts and well wishes go out to you in hoping that you have a speedy recovery. Its not easy, it is painful and you HAVE to take good time out to heal physically and mentally if needed. Its definitely something that won't heal immediately...heres hoping your bed is comfy, the nurses are good and the food comes from your family and not the hospital (no matter angle you look at it from, you still want Burger King!)...come back to us soon! Best of luck and health! Cheers fstr240z! Cheers ppl!
