  1. That's terrible, it wasn't even your fault. I feel your pain, lost my 79 280zx in a heavy downpour a couple years ago. Zmotorsports has a lot of parts but other than that try posting craigslist or looking at junkyards in your area. Do you have a list of the parts you need to have replaced? all in all it looks fully fixable, so long as the frame is ok. you said there was no damage to the motor or anything else so thats good news. My take on it, a GOOD body place could EASILY put your baby back together and straighten everything out save the bumper and head light/hd lt bucket. take it from me, my 240z was hit and run by someone in a toyota (I know this because they left theyre bumper) and tagged the left rear of my car pretty bad. But after I got it back from the body shop it turned out it wasnt as bad as I thought, I was more just in shock at the time and I'm sure you are too. condolences -Evan
  2. geezer amen to that! I had no clue this thread would take off like that. Took me a good 15 minutes to read up to speed. Still looking but fruitless at the moment. I realize its more of an aesthetics thing but I've been looking to swap out that 4 speed knob for the 5 speed knob for a while now. Poked my head in ebay and found lots of new old stock 4 speed shifters but no original wooden 5 speeds heres the links if anyones interested http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-240Z-280Z-510-WOODEN-SHIFT-KNOB-BRAND-NEW-RARE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2557c84019QQitemZ160386531353QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_1653wt_648 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-240Z-280Z-510-WOODEN-SHIFT-KNOB-BRAND-NEW-RARE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2557c84019QQitemZ160386531353QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ht_1653wt_648
  3. yea id seen that and actually talked to the guy there, but it looks like ebay might be by beat bet.
  4. I dropped a 5 speed tranny into my 240z and am looking for an original wooden with the white and black circle diagram like those on the late 280z's to replace my 4-speed knob. Looked around and theres nothing on the net. Any have an extra one lying around?
  5. amen to that. thanks, looking forward to those pictures!
  6. I posted on your selling your car and I am very interested in the 71 240z. my email is evan8488@gmail.com Thanks!

  7. I am very interested. I am actually looking for a another 1972 or earlier 240z. I live in south Orange county CA and just recently drove up to ventura twice a couple days ago. What are you asking? feel free to private message me or I can give you my email!
  8. did some looking and research on mufflers and the correlation with gaining power and whether back-pressure plays an important part in low end power and that not having any back-pressure is actually a detriment. And according to the flowbench the best muffler is no muffler. just food for thought. heres the link: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Miscellaneous/exhausttheory.htm
  9. Where I met him was in southern california. He has his own real estate business and owns a couple buildings and last I talked to him he was going on a road trip vacation.
  10. thanks northernz I'm definitely interested. Do you have a website or anywhere I might be able to see some of his work?
  11. Esmit208, thanks for the recommendation! do you have a part number for that hooker muffler you are referring to? and also, where did you have your muffler mounted?
  12. yea it was pretty cool, great stories, he gave me his card. Nice guy.
  13. I ran into Brian Morrow, the former owner of SCARAB from back in the day at a hardware store. I had no clue who he was when he approached me but when I pulled up he saw my 240z and introduced himself and we wound up talking for a good 45 minutes at the front of the store and heard plenty of nostalgic stories. so yes, he is STILL ALIVE and kickin.
  14. Arne, Thats exactly what I had in mind, I 'm going to go have a look at the Magnaflow website, and gnosez I looked at some of the dual exhausts like that 08A my only concern is that I dont want the outlet tips to be spaced out too far and awkward looking like what Arne mentioned. with the sebring 67 its a hefty 22 inches long but I am intrigued by 09B
