Thanks for the compliments. I didn't notice the stop sign until now either, nice catch.

Long Cranking, 1977 280Z
Thanks for the advice! That's what mine is doing too, it is rough initially. I will check these things out. I'd like to install a pressure gauge too at some point. Thanks for the info!

Here are some fairly recent pics of my '77. I got the grill painted and put back in since these photos:

Long Cranking, 1977 280Z
I'm currently having a long cranking issue with my 1977 280Z. On a cold start I have to try to start it 5 or 6 times sometimes before it starts. Sometimes it starts for a second (goes to about 500 rpm) and then dies. I have replaced the spark plugs (properly gapped), rotor, fuel filter (twice in 700 miles), distributor cover, plug wires (NGK), and properly set the air gap. The weird part is sometimes when I started it again just a couple hours after driving it, it starts immediately. My timing needs to be adjusted somewhat though. Any advice for me getting it to start up more consistently? Thanks in advance, Alex

Can anyone Photoshop my wheels please?
Thanks for the compliments, glad you like it! Nice, my dad grew up in Vancouver. There is actually a lot of Datsun Z activity up here. Our Z club "NorthWest Z" has a lot of events and support (at least from what I've seen) and there is certainly an abundance of Z owners up here.

240SX rear disc
Scott, Your welcome, I'd also check out this link under the "MM bracket/240SX caliper swap" heading. It sounds like the only other thing you'll need other than the brackets will be some custom brake lines. Yeah, I'm going to try to make it out to more local shows with my Z, there is a great presence in the NW for sure. See you around!

Modern Motosports makes brackets to fit those onto your Z: http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=60_61&products_id=8&PHPSESSID=6c0006d08a90489a985e261eb1228b31

Z Car Mechanic PDX
Bruce, Thanks, I appreciate it. Yeah, I'm looking for someone who has Z car wisdom for some advice. I have the FSM, but that doesn't always tell the whole story. I plan on joining Datsuns Northwest and Northwest Z (went to Canby 2010 so far), but have been spending my money on parts recently.

Z Car Mechanic PDX
Hey, I'm wondering who your recommendations for a mechanic who knows Z cars. I've been doing all of the work on my car with the help of my dad and grandpa recently, but would like to have a good Z car mechanic locally to look into issues specific to the car. Thanks, Alex

Beautiful, looks like we have almost the same car (Looks like yours is a bit nicer than mine). (Grill removed for paint in this pic).

1977 Parts Manual
Where's the best place to find a parts manual for my '77? I already have the service manual but it would be great to have both. I read on here that Courtesy Nissan has them, but I looked on their website and didn't see anything about them. Thanks in advance, Alex

+1, they have been good to me and have a lot of the stuff you'll need.

New shoes
Looks great. I also like your wheels, I'd like to get some mesh wheels for my Z at some point. They are going to look great in black.
