Fuel economy goes down the tank if setup for performance. Top end increase in power is the reward. Triples will always look and sound better than SU's. The purist people will yell and scream but no denying datto themselves used mikunis in there market.........
  2. Although I haven't called for an estimate yet, I admit the Rebello 2.7 "Purist" rebuild interests me. Claims 240 HP using the original engine, though obviously bored and stroked. I call B.S on that claim. I know people who spend months tuning in triples to gt that power on his 3litre+ engine. The stroker not a option......6 grand for 50hp please.
  3. Let me dig if i have one its free you pay shipping from cheese land.

I am not trying to talk you out of turbo power. I am trying to tell you to learn to push what you have to the limit before you get more power. I can make a stock 240 bend over and scream at my will. You think its fun to be cruising down the road in 3rd or 4th slam the gas and to have your arse end in the next lane...sure. But if you cant drive.....well Blood run's red on the highway....all of us older folks sure do remember "Mechanized Death" not pc enough to show youngsters in school i suppose.

Z's lift real bad at over 70-80 in the front. Spook will help. Belly pan will help air from pushing up on hood. This has all been covered in the aerodynamics section of HybridZ. If this is your first car dude leave it alone for awhile. Dont go messing with all kinds of stuff. There exceptionable in stock trim. Not uber fast but decent. thwe setup you see in the picture cost me about as much as a rb26 long block. let alone that i got 5mpg on boost with it. Let alone that now that i have gone to efi and mega squirt and learning to tune i like to blow head gaskets. Figure time down tools telling friends you cant go out cause you gotta put the akuma zeto back together....oh wait.....thats me and you too soon. Leave it alone enjoy it. I cant stress enough brakes brakes brakes brakes. Suspension take a course. 300hp is worthless unless you can handle it. 300 hp in a z is like driving a new vette. Except it wont handle for crap at that power unless you do what.....you guessed it.

You need to worry about rust first. Then suspension. Then take a driving course. Then get better brakes. Then take another driving course. Then worry about going faster. Then take another driving course. Then do some aero work so you can get that z up to 120 stable. Then take a a what...you guessed it driving course. Welcome to the world of Z have a good one and make sure to read for about 6 months before you do any major power work. Its all been asked before its all out there in terms of data and how to just search and read. Welcome aboard.

You're gonna make more power with dished pistons from a turbo simply because they can handle more boost. Honestly though you need to go over to HybridZ and hit the search button. This question is asked over there about every half hour from new guys. You wont stop at 300hp either. I though i would but i am chasing 400+ myself. If you have to ask about expense and how cheap it is than you cant afford it. Sorry but its the truth. Fast reliable..... fast and cheap not reliable....pick one.

Flat tops can take about 15lbs on a real conservative tune low timing. I ran 18 for months with meth until my ringlands came apart in many pieces on all 6. This was via carbs and a Hks surge tank. timing was 18 degrees locked. Full methanol from a 500cc injector. Car made 368rwhp and 324 trq. Clutch slipping in 4th Lots of fuel mods needed. Surgetank or sump the tank. New return line needs to be installed. You have a Zx not needed. Best bet source a 81-83 turbo car running. MAke sure it runs good then swap it over. Can be done in a weekend. http://www.youtube.com/user/yetterben#p/a/u/2/YbxYUz77G2Q http://www.youtube.com/user/yetterben#p/a/u/1/y3Kv7BIjkjs I have since moved over to efi.
  10. Oz makes a good point i pulled my pump during my rebuild and saw the steel veins where being eaten away. Since have switched to the ld28 cast pump.
  11. I am trying to reach you on msn as well.
  12. Take a reading between cyl 5 and 6 on the drivers side of head. Very and i mean very unlikely you are running that cold even with no thermo in there. If you took it out for a spirited run and banged threw 1-3rd wot even with no thermo the temp would be 160-200. Back of head between 5-6 is gonna show 20 more than whats in radiator as well. Chances are your thermo is stuck wide open but i am guessing faulty testing equipment.
  13. I don't have the 9mm nuts. Here is a pic. I sent you a private message with payment and shipping details. Shipping to Florida not a problem.
  14. Journal sizes are the same.
  15. I am pretty sure they do as main bearing clearance never changed on the l6 cranks. Let me look up journal sizes in the fsm and i will post back. Regardless your gonna need a line bore in there or your gonna have to play musical caps till the crank turns freely.
  16. I have caps and pickups from a l28 dunno if they fit sure they do. With the main bearing caps though they where block and crank and location specific. Meaning if you get new caps your gonna need a line bore.

Oh i hate the term collector. Why....Collectors are evil evil people who hoard things and hide them from the rest of the world so that know one will ever enjoy it again.

I was just ranting in general about low vin cars. I would do it to car 5 10 17 or 53.The market for low vin z cars is prob like what 50 people in the world. Its not a 2000gt. I guess i don't understand the drooling by certain camps over low vin cars. What significance is it. Its still the same car nothing is different if anything $^!# is farked up. Does car 000004 or whatever that much better than a 73 544594549or whatever? Is it worth more money to who......this is like a bunch of people going oh ahhh i have action comics first appearance of superman. Point being is car 00 whatever is not worth anymore than someones super sweet 76 280 with a rb26 in it. I agree this car is not worth 6 grand. not to anyone other then the Jay lenos of the world. I guess every time i see a thread about a low vin car come up people break out the flags draw lines and bicker in reality i am the type of guy to throw a Molotov cocktail at it so know one gets it. Metaphorical but yah get my drift. As for race cars indeed cars with a log book and history should be put higher than the first car to roll of the line sent to Canada for salt testing!:bulb:

exactly..people get all hub bub about early cars. is it cool to know where they are sure. but unless you got 100 grand to make it worth 20 who cares.
  22. yetterben replied to moonpup's post in a topic in Open Discussions
No really i would, i could care less about numbers or years if i want to chop it up make it a convert and throw a v8 in i would. Who really cares. its not special. its a piece of tin made in a shapely manner we all like. The only people who care about numbers are people that have more money than anyone on this site has. SO what do we care? is someone on here gonna buy that car and drop 100,000 bucks into it to bring it to its value of 20 grand? What about all the people that in 69 or 70 turned there cars into racers???? oh no....better scold them bastards.....oh numbers matching....this is not a damn judge.
  23. yetterben replied to moonpup's post in a topic in Open Discussions
I would rip that engine out of there and throw a turbo or lsx in there. How does that sound!
