  1. well people who claim to know every thing about z's seem pretty not helpful! all my toyota and mopar people are lot more helpful seems all Z people are kinda odd or not very helpful! So far........
  2. hmm so now does any one know if its better to keep the 260 rack or get the 240 rack hmmm
  3. Yes, there are several differences: 1. The housing material changed from cast aluminum to cast iron. 2. The pinion shaft support changed from a [ball] bearing and bushing to two [ball] bearings. 3. The outside diameter of the rack support area increased, thus requiring different bushings on the front crossmember. 4. The oil filler maintenance ports were eliminated. 5. The steering ratio changed from 15.8 to 18.0. 6. The rubber rack boots mounting was changed from a rubber band to a screw clamp.
  4. The 260 received slower steering rack and pinion and the pinion housing was cast iron vs the 240’s aluminum. (The rack and pinion may have been and early to late 260 change, someone else here would know for sure). any more info?
  5. well I know msa sells the quick steering knuckles and i know people have added them to 72 and 73 cars but i'm just looking for more info on the rack it self!
  6. hmm well then I dunno there has to be some one around who knows or else i'll have to go to hybridZ and they don;t play very well with others!

    So from what I have been finding on odd Z web pages is that 260z and up had a iron cast steering rack. With a less fun gear ratio in it! Is this ture? I also see there are no lube points which I have seen on the 240z racks ! are the 240z racks better and do they have a better ratio?

  9. ah yes i looked at those see the thing is I my plates and was lucky 260 Z was not taken soo I don't really want over kill but i'll just have to find a place to make its or clean up some old school ones i have seen on ebay!
  10. ok well my skills in paint program are not what they used to be! but i want this emblem at the top center and just a polished aluminum frame around the rest of it maybe some crossed checkered flags are the bottom?

    Does any one sell a polished plate frame that has the datsun emblem on it at all?> I looked around on a few web pages but nothing ! But I did find just old dealer plates with dealer names on it but thats about it! any help ? If you wanna know what idea i'm thinking about I could draw it!

    so its seem the trans in my car is not stock seeing the trans neutral switch has different plugs on it! So how Do you ID which year your trans is car? is there cast number or stamped numbers in it some where? also whats the point of the neutral switch?

  16. hmm thats no good I wish bilstein still made shocks for us! KYB used to make gas adjust shocks which were really good but no more do they! for our rides

  20. So from what I have found the euro springs seem the best for lowing the car and still having a nice ride! , but they are not around any more? If some one can get me a set H&R will copy them and we can have new ones! If that does not work out what next best Eibach? for sale again at an ok cost! 2nd what about shocks? Adjustable seem the best way to go. Besides koni and TOKICO who else is good ? KYB GR2's always seem to fail or feel like junk to me! Any one every us GABRIEL? 3rd Steering? on my 260z I was hoping to find some kinda grease fitting on the front rack but there is nothing ! Is there some way to get better steering feeling or just take it part and grease it up and get a better alignment? 4th Camber kits ! which seems better? those top mount rubber units i have seen on MSA or the bolts/ odd long nut ones MSA also sells?
  21. well the knocking sound it makes kinda sucks at idle!
  22. any way to ID trans or speed gear in it! also what other R180s diff gears are out there beside the auto 390 gear?
  23. hmm does the car need a pump at all or does the mech do a job as it stands?
