Understanding a Weber Side Draft Carburetor Through a Fictional Supposition.
BLUE An amazing job on a Suppositional Understanding of side draft carburettors. Dave(Z'sOnDaBrain) should do some electrical breakdowns like this. It really simplifies and takes the intimidation out of understanding and tuning them. Keep up the GOOD WORK!

New to the world of Z
IHMAI7 If you are still several years down the road from ownership I ditto what D240 said....READ.READ.READ......Whatever you decide to buy make sure you get a complete car with all the parts attached or at least in the car. An incomplete car can be a PITA. Even if it is not running it can be brought back to life. Just make sure it is COMPLETE. Any amount of rust can be fixed but missing parts can make the revival just that much more discouraging. Find an acquaintance with a complete car so you will have an example to go by. I suggest one of the earlier years without all the electronics and then upgrade later. Good Luck

SU Carb Guru Needed, at wits end!
I respect Bruces' expertise as well as the expertise of the other forum Z owners that contribute. A little known internal part is called a GROSE JET. Be sure to check the condition of those. GOOD LUCK!

My tires are rubbing on inner fender wells.
The first set I put on my AVATAR rubbed the outer lip 225/50R16 16X7.5 wheel. They rubbed in front and back. In the front only when wheel was locked to the left. The second set I went to a 40 series tire. Problem solved. I still run the stock suspension with a thick anti roll bar, a thick rear anti roll bar will also almost eliminate rear axle squat under hard acceleration. 7.5 wide is about as wide as you really need to go IMHO

Dash Repair Process/Pictures
Well here are a few pics of my repair. I actually did two dashes however I haven't put the final coat on the second one. I used metal screws and cut the head off them and then carfeully worked them in. It gave the foam something to attach itself to, or that's the train of thought anyway. NOTE to all who attempt...BE PATIENT! Not difficult Dashboard Repair.doc

some quick advice on if I can fire up this motor...
"I'd take the time to get the right starter" as was so eloquently said by MOTORMAN7..........REVLIS some things you just don't modify a starter motor being one of them. Ask yourself this...SELF is it smart to spend more money after my modification goes bad and causes more damage or is it smart to (read the first line of this paragraph). NUFF SAID!

barn find...1970 Datsun 240z
"My grandparents generation used to call that making a silk purse out of a sow's ear".....My Grandparents would say falling into a pile of 5HIT and come up smelling like a Rose. My Project 3/72 is way worse than that. And I agree with 5THHoresman. I would have taken the whole car home and then disassemble it. The only return you should hope to get is many many cruising miles. Son't give up on it and Good Luck!

New frame rail fabrication
WOW LOGAN I thought 1/3 the distance on my frame rail looked bad on that side. If only people had used common sense and kept the battery properly secured. I guess the entire rail on your rig was dissolved. Nice work though. Keep the pics coming and keep up the good work

- Latest wheel selections and personal reviews, which one is your favourite?
Sorry but I don't like any of them. The wheels on my AVATAR are 16X17.5. Good gas mileage and I think they look good. They also fill the wheel well up nicely and also show the braking apparatus- From black to silver
CASEY Very nice job. Your rig is now officially a "BABE MAGNET". Real quality work by all involved. Shake their hands for me.- Montreal F1 Seating
Cool my friend lives in Halifax. It's good to know that there are other EFF 1 heads in the forum!- Houston members (Local 240z for sale) need advice/thoughts
I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it is the result of some poor personalization.- Happy anniversary!!!
It looks SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET Jim. One day Project 3/72 will look that lovely. The re-assembly must give you goose bumps. How many years have you been working on it?- New to the club...HLS30-74857
Yeah the rubber top must have been a limited time option as were the bumper bars. Having A/C is not a real big concern of mine and I live in Florida. It always seemed like another expensive fix should something go wrong. CONGRATULATIONS of the new rig though. It's amazing that some of these cars actually survived and remained in good shape. Post pics of the transformation.- Houston members (Local 240z for sale) need advice/thoughts
"it might be a good buy - even at $7,500. But, be prepared to put more money in it" Totally agreed. A good paint job and slick outward appearance has fooled many a buyer. Take a REAL good look at the underside as well as the cavities behind the interior pieces. You can hide lots of body filler there. One good thing about it is it's altogether. By all means if you do buy it (and congratulations if you do) first thing to do is GET RID OF THOSE STOOPID LOOKING MUD FLAPS! THAT'S BLASPHEMY:mad:- 240 - 280 Engine Conversion
Daishi The conversion can be done but you should consider the cost and just what sort of "streetable" vehicle you intend to end up with. There are some electronic issues you will have to solve also. The ignition switch for a FI engine has a circuit to communicate with the ECU. If you plan to switch to carburettors there will be no need for an ECU in addition if your car is currently factory FI the ECU controls various other aspects of the engine parameters, i.e. idle, starting when cold, mixture etc. If you want a carburetted engine you would be better off having one built that has never been installed in another vehicle. Even a Rebello engine that has been driven no doubt wasn't driven exclusively to the grocery store on Sunday. If you depend on CL you might end up with a PINK ELEPHANT. Good Luck!- Montreal F1 Seating
BLUE The grandstands at the hairpin that puts you onto the last straight before the START/FINISH line is where my friend from Nova Scotia sits and he says it's a prime location. I guess you will not be taking the 240 on a road trip, or do you plan to. NJ isn't very far from Montreal. If I had the cash this year and my car was finished I would be there. Have a GREAT TIME!- WOW! my lights are bright!
RCB Thanx for sharing performance results. I too am considering the harness upgrades for my lights. I am still a few years from completion but they are parts that I can stockpile. Your AVATAR looks fine.- My first Z car
CONGRATULATIONS KOSS You will definitely stand out in a vehicle such as this in Norway. I don't suppose many of these were originally destined for Norwegian shores in the early 70's. Please post some pics as soon as possible. And oh yeah your English and sentence structure are fine considering no one here comes close to speaking or understanding your native language. May you enjoy many kilometres with a BIG- A wilde ride home today, white knuckel
"And I'm here to tell you I missed his arse end by inches! ".....AKA in the hockey world as a KICK SAVE! Hmmmmmm I've been there before but instead of braking I made an abrupt lane change. Still it never pays to follow TOO CLOSELY. I'm glad nothing happened to anyone or anything. - Latest wheel selections and personal reviews, which one is your favourite?
