Great stuff man. And yes true car enthusiasts have gone through the same emotions as yourself to some degree or another, I sure am. But it's not about the destination, it's about the journey. The one thing I will add, most of us learned everything we know about our cars by putting our hands on them. It took me the better part of 12 years to accrue the tools I have. You don't realize you need certain tools until you actually need them then you go out and by what you need. Good luck and we hope you and the kids build many great memories. Good Luck!
  3. If it is truly a 4 out of 5 the person is asking much more than you will probably be willing to pay for it based on rarity alone. A 4 out of 5 means all it really needs is a good wash and wax and maybe some new tires.
  4. Well a RHD rust bucket is worth nothing, to answer your question. We understand y our concerns about possibly being snaked on the deal but how many cars do you buy sight unseen?
  5. Well if we could actually SEE the car we could speculate on what it's value is. A picture or 2 might help. Just an idea!
  6. The u-joints on the half shafts do occasionally have issues if it has been driven hard. If you are getting the rear end clunk during hard acceleration it is more than likely to be a worn diff mount. But before any spirited driving I would suggest a thorough once over at every wheel. When these cars sit for a while they can feel like a canoe instead of a car
  7. Watch the "GREEN HORNET 240Z" video on YOUTUBE and you WON'T think the TRACPAK is overkill

TANGO GOOGLE "Datsun Indiana". It looks like there are plenty of choices. I wish I could get up there with a trailer myself. OOOOPS, I don't know why I thought you were in Indiana. Try that same search in New Jersey. Sorry

TANGO Like the others have said, there is no point buying a shell and hoping to make it roadworthy. You can set a max budget but remember the seller sets the price. I have expressed this to others hoping to buy one of these cars for dirt cheap expecting to turn a sows ear into a silk purse. PROBABLY WON'T HAPPEN. You will probably give up on a shell before making it roadworthy. Here is a suggestion. Do an internet search in your state and surrounding states for. DATSUN SPECIALISTS. I found mine in the back lot of a specialist in Redondo Beach CA. The guy had it on a mechanics lien. But they usually keep cars around for extra hard to find parts. I was fortunate to find a complete car and maintaining it is an ongoing and truly rewarding task. If you buy a bucket of C..P, that is probably what you will end up with. If you are looking to spend about 5K you will probably have a good platform to work with. You never really "FINISH" working on a DATSUN because there is always a way to maker more of what you want. Good luck with your search. STAY AWAY FROM $300 CARS!...........of any type.

Wait a minute........I think I see a few useable parts there
  13. Send DAVE, (zsondabrain) a message about this issue. He is an electrical guru when it comes to our cars and a good source of info. Good Luck.

I'm eating from paycheck to paycheck! OH GOD, I'M SO HUNGRY! WILL MY CAR EVER BE FINISHED? WILL I EVER EAT STEAK AGAIN? Oh the pain!

I have a Champion aluminium 4row. The electric fans must be used for clearance but I wanted those anyway. The connecting points line up perfectly but the fans basically attach with wire ties unless you figure out some other connecting method, which I will. Still about 8 months before going back on the road at this point. I like the build quality though.
  16. If you have an adjustment on the slave the combination may be that and the adjustment on the clutch arm itself. I had the same issue on a friend's ZX. No slave cylinder adjustment but clutch arm adjustment. Be patient good luck!

I wouldn't brake check anyone. They might not have good reflexes. Just ask Sebastian Vettel!

Things slowly returning to normal no damage to the car. Thanx.
  19. Great story Goose. I only hope to share my story like that someday. Stories like this truly inspire me to keep forging ahead. Currently under going corrosion treatment and replacement
  20. Watch "THE GREEN HORNET 240Z" video on YOUTUBE.......... VERY INSPIRING!
  21. But that's what it all about.........HAVING A GOOD TIME.......BLOW THEM INTO THE WEEDS!
  22. I always CRINGE when I see " Z & RACE CAR" in the same sentence. Although many club racers have found on track success most of the cars ended up really beat up, crashed, or so modified they could never be street legal again, which is where our cars truly belong.................ON THE OPEN ROAD.........Although I do like a few of the liveries.
