  1. Pick N Pull won't sell it as a whole, It would just be bits and pieces.

When the factory started making changes there is always a threshold when some changes are in effect before others are. Like the vents. I have heard of a series 1.5, perhaps that is what yours is. Then there is the factor of what did the factory do as opposed to what some prior owner changed along the way.
  3. I know the forum likes to look at nice clean restored cars up for sale for top dollar. But as the title states "and other places" Well here is a new one from the "other places" category. These don't show up in this venue too often anymore. In NW Oregon. https://row52.com/Vehicle/Index/RNDrpvNisqJIreOFPB3Q2FuZD

My guess would be the console change had everything to do with the transmission change from A style to B style. New shifter location.
  5. There were two different slave cylinders for these. Perhaps you have one of each? (I think one is NLA?) or one of each different hard lines maybe?

The 2+2 NA ZX and the ZXT both had a 240mm clutch the earlier and 2+0 NA ZX had a 225mm clutch. That kit reads to me like it fits both. To me that would mean Z Car Source was selling all 240mm clutches in the "kit" as they will fit the earlier cars, but not the other way around. IE: a 225mm clutch would not work well in the 2+2 or Turbo ZX. If you are dropping the transmission again ^^ it would be another item to check, 225mm vs 240mm. I put a 240mm in my 70 240, and used the ZX 2+2 collar, works fine.
  7. Yes the 4 speed was at 12:00 and the ZX (generalization) was at 6:00. The pinion gear itself is the same for both but the holder was different as you noted. Cutting a slot was the least expensive way of application. The other option was to buy a new holder. You can still get them from Nissan. At least last I checked. As long as it doesn't leak you should be fine. No one can really see it with the car on the ground wheel side down. 😁
  8. Top secret BRE lifting tool.
  9. I did learn these SU's are H6 from a Triumph T3/T4 set up. Still no info on the manifold, might be a custom set up. They look very well made not something cobbled together.
  10. This is how I got them, I also contemplated a different arrangement, but the way the linkage is set up and the fuel lines and choke cable it looks like this would be close to the on engine set up. If I knew what they fit onto engine wise I would know the answer to your query.
  11. All good info I’ll check into more after work. I sent some pic’s off to an SU carb website as well.
  12. This is the only set up I found so far, the overall configuration looks close.
  13. I did end up getting this lot, The car buyer did take a lot of good parts, but we did find some extras that were not in the BAT lot, so it worked out. I did end up with this SU carb array. I know it is not for a Datsun, but I can't find any comparable set ups on google images. Anyone here know what it is for? Closest was a Range Rover V8 but not the same manifolds.

This guy on Facebook was selling a lot of ZX parts. Looked like reasonable prices too. I do not know him or have I delt with him. I just have seen his ad's popping up recently. https://www.facebook.com/groups/327981873903624/user/100000244220750
  15. This thread is most assuredly a "Squirrel" type of thread as the latest post can call everyones attention. I just though it was a cool full circle post from a year ago.
  16. This crossed my path a couple weeks ago, at the time a 2000GT was on BAT and took everyone's attention, so this never received much conversation. The car was a RNM and ended up being sold after the BAT auction for reportedly more than the high bid to an Ohioan. The car was listed with a large amount of extra parts which this new owner picked a few parts from but left behind most of the hoard. This hoard was recently offered to my Z car club so I inquired and have a deal to get them on Saturday. It should be most of the items show in the BAT listing, I'll know tomorrow when I do and get the. The seller said they guy did not take much. I'll find out tomorrow.

    My 72 says sandwich.
  18. I have this list. I had a better one but lost it and the page is no more. I should have saved a screen shot. Seems the 3:70 was short lived in the early ZX. I expect my car will have 3:90's R200 I'll find out when I get that far in. I am not saying this is 100% accurate, but my findings have not found any errors. I have the 810 Maxima 3:70 R180 in my car now. I have the Auto 3:54 too and 3:36 R180's I picked some 720 truck front's (1) 3:90 and (2) 4:11's I have never found the 4:37 or 4:62 all R180
  19. Chas, thanks for the info on your findings. I knew through my research of the 6 o'clock speedo drive, and the single hanger. there is also an eye shaped plate on one side near the rear. I have bought two ZX 2+2 transmissions and both had these features. I have not opened them as yet so I can not confirm internals. The recent one had some bearing cage bits on the drain plug magnet so I am sure to open that one up. The other went straight into my car. I also have two of the earlier 5sp's out of 280Z and see that they are like the one you described. I wonder if it is a Euro thing to have the wide in the 2+2?
  20. I have seen you mention this before. I can not find any data to support this info. Even Carl Becks site does not list this difference. My parts manuals don't show it either. Do you have some reference material you can point me to for the late 2+2ZX having the same as the late 280Z ratio's. I did find the early ZX had that same ratio and a short lived 80ZX had a similar "close" ratio to the the commonly sought after 81-83 (2+0 and 2+2)
  21. You may have determined this already but keep in mind any B/C trans will need the shifter hole enlarged some to accommodate the more rearward position of the shifter. Not by much but still an alteration. As Zed says worth more in the long run, unmodified. The 5 sp is nice for the highway speed runs. 4th is 1:1 on both the 4 and 5 speed. Makes the twisty back roads about the same. 1st-4th. I too have some 4Sp 71B transmissions and even a couple of 71A models. You can still find 5sp ZX cars but they are getting harder and harder to find, with the price going up some too. I bought one from Everett for $300 and have parted out most of it. (I am keeping the transmission.) Edit: this is in your neighborhood. looks like he just dropped the price. 83ZX 2+2 $100.00 https://offerup.com/item/detail/9f4db155-79df-305b-8fba-72401858e4ad?q=datsun&cid=5.1
  22. It looks like they have a J hook set up, some some linkage is there for the throttle. I can't tell if it is all there though. They also appear to have K&N backing plates, If you have the rest of the K&N set up that would suffice as an air filter set up.

I was at work all day, looks like Steve answered your question. The earlier cars had this long pig tail box and the later 240's had a shorter pig tail. You'll see which one you have I am not 100% sure when that change was made. Same principle though. If your fuse box has melted terminals (common) the up grade is a good idea.
  24. Terrapin Z replied to astrohog's post in a topic in Help Me !!
I usually have to unplug the fuse box and associated wires. That will free up the cross bracket. Work it up and over the shifter in 2nd or 4th. Once up a little you can get under it and take off the two 8 mm nuts holding the choke bracket.
  25. Have you seen this new release from Nissan? https://global.nissannews.com/en/pages/all-news-archive Lots of Nissan News publications dating back to 1963. Some cool stuff in there. Here are some samples......
