  1. The seller kept going on about it being a 69 car. I looked at the firewall and it had been painted over. There were a lot of tell tail signs of it being an early car.
  2. I was amazed the hatch glass was intact. The PO said it had been rear ended and then while it sat it was side swiped. As for the wheels he said he coated them with oil so as not to have them corrode. from what I say it looks like it worked. Headlights are Hella H4's Last registered in 89.
  3. I was driving back from Portland on Friday and saw this on the side of the road. I circled back to at least check it out. Glad I did.... Do you see why??? It was HLS30-00903 disguised as HLS30-138310

Kind of looks like they would go under the rear part of the headlight scoop. "Mudguard front - mask" 63872-P7100 & 63873-P7100 Any part numbers cast into them. http://nissan4u.com/parts/280zx/us_s130/1979_6/type_23/body_front_roof_and_floor/front_fender_and_fitting/ I have a screen shot for you but the site is telling me my pic's "can not be save contact us for assistance" @Mike ?

Here are some possible crossover fitments I found on Hybrids (old topic though) https://forums.hybridz.org/topic/69623-the-strut-thread-koni-illumina-tokico-carrera-bilstein-ground-control/?do=findComment&comment=713197

I saw that one listed on eBay not long ago. I am pretty sure the ZX ones are different than the S30's The ZX fronts work in the 510 fronts, and the ZX rears are completely different. There are some ZX rears on eBay right now as well, but these front ones are no longer listed. I am not sure if it was the same seller but the pic was the same.
  8. I agree with those above, I think they are really good reproductions based only on the pic's. "If it looks too good to be true....." Especially if the seller is being elusive. JMHO.
  9. I have a couple I believe are original, The have the punched valve stem hole like Kats made note of. A makers country of orgin stamping on the side IKI MADE IN JAPAN. Inked markings inside. They are rough I know......

Well that didn't pan out for any of us. I guess we all keep looking.

I wanted to run these as well as they sure look like a solid strut. I just didn't want to mix them as I said earlier. It seems that we are in the same situation, looking for an opposite set @madkaw. If @RIP260Z has fronts or rears one of us might have a set. ? I'll take a closer look at mine tonight.

    Agreed ?

I do not have the fronts. That was my concern with these, mixing them with some other brand up front. I do not have the nuts for these either. They came in a left over parts pile I bought. I looked through the 09 post again just now. Seems you could get them rebuilt. I looked at Bilstein's page too, and they list services but I am not sure what level service would be needed. ($$$) If I found some fronts I might inquire with them. I am running Illumina's.

Following...... I have a pair of these as well. Interested to know more about them too. Aside from the serial number there is a "40" stamped in these two.
  15. Pic's added : 1 Bosch, and two Japanese with different numbers on them. They are all about half way open. I really never looked into how to test them. I am not sure what the difference would be in the different models. What was your statement reference about it being broken? The FSM shows the test is with power not just temp. did you try this test? Looks like powered heat closes it, and ambient temp opens it but it does not say how much.
  16. There is a used Datsun one for sale on eBay, unknown condition for $45 shipped. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1975-Datsun-280Z-IDLE-AIR-CONTROLLER-AUXILIARY-REGULATOR-may-fit-other-years/133279669808?hash=item1f08165e30:g:aJYAAOSwe-td~W3Q I have a couple of those I won't be using as well, I am sticking to carbs.. I have not tested them.
  17. Sure just trying to help out, Good luck with the build.
  18. I looked up the parts fiche again and it shows the clips for the 79 but does not list a part number. For the 82 it has the same picture and does list a number (72727-W1000) and qty of 7 for 81->. It does not show clips for the bottom. Both years show the same rubber strip (72825-P7900 upper - 72826-P7100 lower) They look in the pics like they had something on them, perhaps the metal clips you are referring to. These clips were tucked into the upper stainless when I pulled it off. It look odd to me as I don't see how they held onto the car. I'll see if I can get the bottom off and see what's under there. These are available if you need them.
  19. These clips? They came from the top stainless trim off the 82 NA 2+2. I heard there was another separate rubber piece but mine looks to have been put in with adhesive. The trim was held onto the car with these as it was. I expect there are more for the bottom trim but I have not removed that part yet.

A friend of mine takes his all stock ZX to some local shows. Not strictly Z car shows, you know Fords Chevys, dodges Etc. and his car gets a lot off attention and awards. I am sure you will enjoy driving it and do well at the show. Z's always turn some heads. "I had one of those years ago" is a familiar phrase I hear. Best.....TZ

There are two flat sides where the plug goes into the fender vertically, to orientate the plug so the clip flat parts are horizontal. The clips hold a tab on the fender extension. There are supposed to be two parallel tabs on these. One is broken off on this one. Look at your bumper piece and see if there is a tab there. I expect if your cars had the holes they should have the plugs. (Clip from EU parts parts manual) Both parts are discontinued.

I think this is what your are referring to @dutchzcarguy? There is a large hole that takes a plastic plug which in turn holds the fender extension. There is an indentation like the one in your pic from above^ Pardon the rust, but it is a parts car. '82

Here are some more pics from the seller. A nice looking car indeed and only 30K miles. https://www.onlinemotorsports.com/details-1981-datsun-280zx-used-jn1hz04s3bx416108.html Looks like a cool shop too.
  24. If you are considering shipping, I have a 78 I am selling. It has a few standard Z issues but not as bad as that one you are looking at in GA. Runs and drives, clean title. Not as nice as The Tool Mans, but not as much either. In WA State 98579

I was under the impression the OP wanted a rear deck and spare tub. Yes, the floors are rusted but the deck looks decent. (could ask for more pic's) I personally have seen tubs for sale but never a whole rear deck. A complete parts car maybe, then it shouldn't necessarily be cut up. I'd use this deck to fix the car, and sell off the quarters and anything else. ?‍♂️ I guess that's just me.
