I've been looking for a project
I am interested in the stock wheels, PM me with a price. I have some 14" turbines and slots if that is what you were thinking of for "era" wheels.

PARTS WANTED
I checked my 5/71 which has the "Series 2" style center console (ash tray in the middle) and the later style choke lever / mount. There is no bracket hanging down to mount the cable (post #22). It does however still have the earlier gas pedal with the tab on the top. (also post #22) My 72 and 73 gas pedals do not have the tab. So they must have made up a bunch of pedals with tabs then just used them up late 71 to early 72. Although they stopped spot welding on the bracket for the cable a lot earlier.

PARTS WANTED
Yes the correct pedal is part of the whole set up. In all the cars I've seen, the pedal with the extra tab were left in the cars. No need to change that out when they removed the cable and lever assembly. Later models do not have the tab. My car had the bracket fixed under the dash where the cable sheath locks into place. From there the ball end of the cable hooks to the pedal tab, pulling above the fulcrum engaging the throttle.

PARTS WANTED
The throttle lever was considered unsafe for the US, and the dealers had to pull the levers out of the cars before they sold. They can still be found occasionally, on eBay and the like. A guy on FB DPAN says he has a lever and knob. Not sure if it includes the mount and cable though. Repo knobs found at http://www.240zrubberparts.com/apps/webstore/products/show/4818298 (Out of stock currently)

Rare Step Lights
It appears there are extra OP parts (both discontinued) for the wires and a clip for the door. It does look like they plug right into the dash harness as mentioned above. Still there would have to be some path through the door and A pillar as you mentioned. Like adding speakers to a bare door. Some plastic or rubber grommets, and some rubber flex conduit, or the like.
-
Rare Step Lights
It looks like they mount in the lower portion of the door card, to illuminate on the ground as you step out right? These spots look appropriate as they are under the arm rest. They line up better with your other pic of the door too. I would think power would be run from the door jam push switch by the hinge, so they come on as you open the door like the interior light.

Help me identify my body panels!
There is a third piece that goes across the middle. 240's had the front turn signals mounted in those corners. The 280 had the turn signals moved up to the grill.

NOS 240z dash
Hi Garrett, Thanks for the info on the dash. A real shame about it being damaged, even if it is just a small crack. Especially if you are doing a show room restoration. I suppose I really can't say how it was packed from the factory, having never bought one from Nissan. My 70 has an un-cracked original dash, and I was very fortunate to find a 72 dash at a junk yard with no cracks that I picked up for a spare. I also have a few seriously cracked ones. It looks like your eBay dash is on track to sell for the price of a Vintage Dashes replacement. I hope your restoration project goes well for you. Nice that there is now a replacement source for these.

NOS 240z dash
If I had this in the box as shown, I would have added a nice nest of bubble wrap, or some other packing so it didn't bang around in the box. You can see where the radio mounts have been digging into the box. Just a plastic bag is no packing at all. I hope the seller packs it better to ship it.

77 at Copart
The prices on the COPART site are in $CAD So the bid of $1150 CAD is only $864 USD, but the reserve is not met yet. The listed value of $18,000 CAD is really $13,530 USD. Not knowing where the reserve is, it may still get to high for a parts car. Then add on the cost of going to get it, or have it shipped.

73 for auction in LA - Future Auction
I was thinking the same, the damage does't look to bad in the pic's. You never know for sure until you look at it in person. "Another project...!?!" I was thinking that too.......hole in the head. Might just have to "watch it" manually, just to see where it ends up price wise.

73 for auction in LA - Future Auction
Looks like a forgot to add the link....... https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/datsun/240z/2196231.html#&gid=1&pid=10 Also interesting is today it list the auction as 1-18-19 and the auction estimate is lower at $1154.00 When I click the BID NOW button it takes me to.....here https://sca.auction/en/23847905-1973-datsun-240z That site says it is not ready for sale. The second site says they are in Miami FL., and that the car is in Los Angeles. The SCA site has the usual set of rules for bidding, like a $250 fee for a membership. A $250 transaction fee, $55 documents fee, $25 yard entry fee, an auction house fee, vehicle storage fee, sales taxes, etc etc etc.... .

77 28Z in Portland only $1650
I have seen many times over where this, and other forum people indicate they are going to restore something like this. After an in person inspection, this one might just turn out to be a parts car candidate. It is priced okay for that. (I'm not looking, just sharing the ad) The seller added a new picture of a "finished dream car" to spark you enthusiasm to buy and build it. and added the "0" to the 280Z

The winning bidder only placed on bid. I often wonder sometimes if the scammers bid on their own cars if the bid price isn't high enough. They win the car back, pay themselves to complete the eBAY transaction, then sell the car again under a new user name. Lot of tricks to scamming people out of their dollars. Maybe.......maybe not. When the ad's are questionable like this one, and the voice responses from the calls are sketchy too. Makes me wonder. JMO I just search for Datsun, you never know what category people list their cars and parts under. @197TZ patients pays off, you'll find the car thats right for you. Of course, feel free to check in here for good advise and insight. Collectively we have seen and bought a lot of cars. I found mine on Craigslist, but had look for about 8 months to find the one that I was comfortable with and could afford.

Agreed these shops are just glorified car flippers, with a thesaurus of adjectives to describe the cars they flip. I am sure they will offer to help you with financing, and perhaps offer to sell you an extended warrantee. Personally I'd steer clear. JMHO

Early Canadian L24 for sale
Hi Gav240z, are you sure about that range. I have two 065XX VIN cars and the engine numbers are both in the 009xxx range. 015xxx would be much later. zKars engine was from 02744 and should have a 00xxxx block number. Perhaps you need 0015xx? I have an E31 block, number 009885 from a 70 that is available if that suits your range.
