  1. I have one as well if you need one still (from a 2/72)
  2. Thanks for the clarification on the rest stop meet Arne, reading the posts it looked like there would be a meet up on both days. Thats fine I originally wanted to come in on the backroads as well. Dave, meeting Bruce from ZT was on my list of things to do there, I am going to miss your install if happens on Sun though, I have other commitments that day.

I would dave, but you see I am starting at exit 88 and don't want to backtrack. We plan on going earlier too so I will see you down there.
  4. I plan on coming down for Sat. from the Oly area, I will check out the rest stop, and see if you all are there, and drive in with you. This is my first time going so new territory for me. Looking forward to it. Dave
  5. I saw this 2/72 in a front yard in Napavine WA on the backroads heading home from a drive to OR. No motor, no trans., no title and picked it up for $60. Some decent parts here for me and I'll part the rest out cheap to help out fellow members in need. Forward payments and the like. I5 auto wreckers in Chehalis had a 72 that had some really nice pieces on it a while back. I picked it over pretty well as did some others. I was there recently picking up some Kia Sportage seals and saw a 280zx turbo they had just gotten in. I did not have my camera with me then (2 weeks), but it was in pretty good shape very complete. The folks there are a bit gruff and overpriced on some things, and then really low on others. You just never know. Always on the look out.......... Dave
  6. I'd make this one as well if I didn't have to work Monday.
  7. No problem Dave, I can hold them for you as long as you like. I am dismantling the rest of the car as well, so if you need anything else let me know. It had no motor or trans but there are still some useable items there.
  8. Are these the ones you need Dave?
  9. Dave, I will be picking up a 72 rolling chassis for parts this weekend, not sure of the build date as yet. If you still need some parts, and if they will work for you. I'd be glad to help you out. I will know more on Sat afternoon. Dave
  10. What a fun day, great weather and a fun drive through scenic countryside. Stopped at LL Stub Stewart State park for a look and a break at the day use area. Went on and stopped to view the Elk Reserve for a bit. Nice heard there. Went on to Astoria's Rogue Pub, with a full-on chili cook off going on. and had a nice lunch. I decided to break off and head back North for home and decided to take additional back-roads the rest of the 80 miles home. I hit the 55555 mile threshold 5 miles north of Longview, I thought about it after I was home and looked at the picture and said to my wife "I should have been going 55 MPH when I took this." It only happens once and you can't go back and do it again. Se la vie :classic: Then about 3 miles from home we make the turn and there is this eagle in the road and he flies into the trees. I had to flag two cars around me to get the shots. A great ending to a killer day. The car ran quite well and handled great even on the Pot hole international raceway we encountered on the way. I think I swallowed a filling on that one. Nice to meet some fellow Z ers, A fine day for sure. David
  11. The wife and I are going to tag along on this ride as well. I test drove the Z to work for the last two days and all seems to be fine in the run-ability dept., so time for a higher milage test drive. What better chance to meet a few fellow Z lovers and enjoy a beautiful day. See you in North Plains. David
  12. Check the carb balance too, one could be rich and the other lean, giving you the A/F reading, but not not being correct.
  13. That looks great Dave, Awesome find!! and a fantastic job fixing it up. I've run the 90/100's before and got a lot of high beam flashes even on the low beams, I went to 55/100's and have the best of both world Std low beam and killer high beams. Your the electrical guy so it's up to you, just MHO. Are you going to trim the front bumper like your other Z? Dave
  14. There is a digit missing from the vin #. It looks to me to be a late 71. I am no expert though. But the bumper and emissions are of a later year the 00998 would have. It's a beater either way. $250 is even high for me.
  15. I will look for it Arne, thanks. I only saw the post for GG two days before. I need to check in more often.:stupid: I live near exit 88 on I5 so its about the same milage to P-town as it is to S-town. I suppose I will have to have dual citiZenship. Bill, I look forward to checking out your cars in person. David
  16. This was my first GG nissan event. I went to hopefully meet some CZCC menbers and did meet Dave (Zs-ondabrain) and although I didn't get to talk to him I saw Jim (a7dz), who has done a fine job restoring his Z. I too did not care so much for the tuner crowd. there was a time when I was more into engine swaps and hybrids but not so much anymore. I got there late 10:30 and was lucky to park in the main lot across from Dave. we walked all the lots and saw some cool cars. The 370's were pretty cool as were the GTR's not too many vintage cars. a presidents nissan was interesting. I'm with Dave for a local vintage Datsun show or gathering. Perhaps in the future. The Canby meet sounds more promising for what I would like to see, So I am planning on that one. So here are some pics of the Z's that I saw there excluding my own. time to wash the car!!!
  17. I had the same issue with mine, I ended up grinding off the inner lip so it would be even with the rest of the shell. I then rounded the now sharp edge so as not to cut into the new ES bushing. Worked like a charm. Sorry I was too involved to take any pics at the time but everything looks good. Not a lot of help in the ES instructions. common sense, and simple ingenuity prevailed.

My 70 had been modified by the PO in the same style as original but not genuine Datsun. My thoughts are that the majority of the car should look period, although some modern upgrades are acceptable. It should look like an old Z. If the car was more original when I purchased it, I would lean more toward all original. My mods have mostly been in the undercarriage struts, bushings, brakes and an RT mount. mostly to make it handle and run safely. I also installed Dave's electrical upgrades as the wiring is a bit weak in the lighting department. The PO had put headers and K&N's and a Ger Brock cam he had cut the springs and over lowered the car, something I redid. He also had 4:11 gears in it and a 4 speed from an automatic swap I think. The warranty booklet did not have either box checked. The 4 speed and smaller tires made for some fast reving. I put 3:54's in for now. I enjoy it as it is and thats what counts the most. IMHO TZ
  19. They look the same as the ones I have on my Z My PO also said they were a factory option. I can't quite see the center caps on the ones you are asking about. Mine have a P/S for "Per Spec" or performance specialties. I have seen them in a Z after-market catalog I have from the early 70's Nice looking 70 too.

I just ran across it. It looks to be in nice shape. I'd have to see a car in person to pay that money. wrong coast for me.

Truly a bummer Bonzi Lon. Carl, I agree with the thermal changes, including the heater/defroster being run in cold temps and/or A/C being run in summer(for those that have A/C). jmark, I also use 303, great stuff. TZ
