How do I test a 280 clock?
I tested a 240 clock in the same manner and did hear a ticking noise if listening closely. blue to 12v black to gnd. I left it for 10 min. and the clock advanced 10 min. I would say your clock is non functional. There were some threads on here about replacing the internals with a more modern component. TZ

What kinda of Z-car guy are you?
I feel I fall between 1 and 2. I really like the stock look, but will make upgrade with newer components when things were out. This car had some modifications when I bought it. but retained the nostalgic look. After getting it home I found some rubber under the car had deteriorated. I feel if you can make an improvement to the stock 70.s technology without changing the original look I feel it is worthwhile. A semi sleeper if you will. For example I replaced the worn bushings, struts and springs, brakes and some electrical wiring (Dave's) There is a spoiler on the front that was on it, and thats fine but I would not do any extra body work. I like the way it looks. Not a full on racer and definitely not a trailer queen, something in between!!

Greetings, from me and my Z
I intend like to attend a Z show or gathering / drive next summer. When is the Canby show? I have looked at your club as well as the one in Seattle. both are 100 miles away and have meetings mid week that would be impossible to attend as I do have to work (to pay for my Zaholism)

Rescuing parts from the crusher
Funny,,,, when I got my Z home and started looking through it I found it needed some things. I called the local yard not expecting them to have a Z, they said they had a 72 (HLS30-60414 R.I.P.) So I went and found a nice lime green all stock car with a smashed in tail. I bought the trim parts I was after. but couldn't stop thinking about the perfect shape dash in the car. I asked about the crushing and was told once they have made enough profit it gets crushed. A week later I went and got the dash $100 for the complete set up gauges, radio, glove box, heater controls. the works. I know it is different than my 70 but how could I pass it up. As it turns out the clock still works!!! Next time I was back there someone else had found it and many body parts were gone. I was again considering going back and picking up some other spare parts just because. TZ

Thanks Adam I had looked at a bunch of cars that people said were "clean" or "nice" and found a bunch of buckets. When the guy opened his garage for this one I knew I had found my ride. A lot of it is what I had in mind to do already. I have seen these type of American Slots a lot and these are usually oxidized, which takes all the elbow grease to bring them back. The old owner had them polished and the slots blacked out, to give them a great look. Now all I have to do is keep up on the polish. Thank you Walter

Thanks for the info on these. The car is originally from Portland the story sounds right. I have see this type of wheel on other Z's but never with the center cap. I agree they are not up to their original snuff, and at this point I am not racing around too much, puttering as you say. Thanks for the input.

Hey Arne, This should answer that question. I looked again and I see no checking, the tires are gummy and hold pressure. I took this one pic to ask about the wheels. The seller said they were Per Spec. a dealer option with the car. He was quite excited about them. I have looked on the web and can't find anything. Ever hear or them?

Greetings, from me and my Z
Hi All, I bought my Z a few months ago and have been doing some work on it. I have used this forum for info and product info. I have found it very informative. I am the third owner of this 1970 Z, HLS30-06389. I pretty much bought it as you see it. Owner 2 bought it in 72 and had kept it in his garage most of its life. It has 54,293 miles on it, with a few mods and changes, nicely done though IMHO. Anyway glad to be on board here and I hope I can contribute something other than my two cents. Happy Turkey Day!! TZ
