I had to go back down to Vancouver today and pick up the 280 shell. I have not made any arrangements to go look at them. If I read the ad right the real estate lady and son bought them from a hoarder house with the intension of building one from two. but the son has lost interest. Eve did send me more pic's after she finally agreed they were not in the CL ad. (now it looks like she loaded 10 pic's in the ad.) Pretty rusty and banged up. missing some pieces that let lots of WA rain in. I asked if she would sell the green one solo, but no. I think I would only be in it for parts cars, and it would have to be cheap......

I know right..... I emailed them, it is a real estate agent, and rather rude. I asked for more pictures and they reply was "I posted a lot of pictures" There is only one in the CL ad. After that crickets....... Hi, my name is Dave and I have a Z problem.........🧰🛠️🔩⚙️

New booster, now sticky brakes
I'll sell you this core in the pic's (it will need a reaction disc, I shook it but did not hear anything. I may have used it in my Booster I bought from MSA. (also had no disc) been a while now. Then send it to these guys. ( I saw this on FB just now, but it is on OfferUp) They have good reviews. https://offerup.com/item/detail/1070491908/?_branch_match_id=857945268714343482 Or I am sure there are other reputable Datsun booster rebuilders. I would stay away from the chain car parts stores though. IMHO

I am not sure what kind of booster you get from AZ. It does not sound like the correct unit. Perhaps the people that rebuild them are not that good? I can easily remove the lock washer with a small pic. Then easily pull the push rod out. (Mine also had no reaction disc) I have never uploaded a movie here so excuse me if it does not work. I can not see the spring at all in the hole. I can feel it in there, but it is stationary and does not move around at all. Disc Out.mov

New booster, now sticky brakes
Once you get the replacement, I suggest you confirm the reaction disc is in there and glue it on if it is not already. I hope this all works out well for you. I think it is safe to say we have all encountered similar problems with these cars and have worked through them to fruition.

New booster, now sticky brakes
If you bought it recently maybe they still have it in with their cores, They usually don't get picked up until they have a good amount to make the load haul worthwhile. It would be worth a shot to ask. If it is gone I would at least try and get it swapped out for another one. Explain the issue with the brakes and content you think it was rebuilt incorrectly. If the spring is on backwards it will not push against the diaphragm correctly and will not function as intended. Auto Zone should get you another one. Those stores often get bad rebuilds with core product (reman's)

That does look strange, Where did you get the Booster? Was there a lock washer and seal disc in there? It looks like scrape marks where the lock washer was pulled out. It almost looks like the spring is in backwards. If you look at my third picture above the spring gets larger toward the back. Yours looks to me like it gets smaller in the back thus blocking the plunger. The rod should be attached to the plunger piece and the reaction disc is on the back side of that. They usually come right out with no interference from the spring. Did you send your old booster in for a core? If not maybe compare the two.

In the 240Z booster there would be a lock washer type plate as seen in the pic here, down in the plunger hole. (not shown in book diagram) Then the three pieces in my first picture above a disc with the rubber seal (#1), the plunger itself (#2) and the reaction disc (#18) I found all this out a while ago when I bought a rebuilt booster from MSA. I don't know when the disc was lost, but it was not where it was supposed to be. I had brake problems as you describe. With the reaction disc out of place you would had to have readjusted the plunger rod to get any brakes as you would be missing a quarter inch of set up.

Yes #18 it sits in the pocket normally but when pulled out even just enough it can fall off and ends up in the bottom of the booster. Hard to get out with the booster still mounted in the car. Usually have to pull the booster and shake it around until you can grab the little sucker.
