  1. Thanks for the reply. I'll have to do some real digging. Car-parts couldn't match so I'll just keep checking. At this point I would rather not spend any money on wheels, but that means driving up an blocking up the car so I can get all the wheels off or, like I said, finding some here and swapping them out.
  2. Can I buy a 14" rim at the junk yard that will fit my 73 Z (S30)? Or is there something special about the wheels and lug centers. I just need four used wheels and tires to get the car onto a trailer and bring it home. I don't want to have to go spend hour and hour getting the current set off and used tires put on and replacing the wheels. I am 200 miles from my car. So I want to buy a set of cheapo rims and used tires and just go swap them out. Thanks for your help.
  3. What a cluster%#@! I called an acquaintance and arranged to use his car trailer to pick up my new Z car. Once the times were set I drove home (I work out of town) 180 miles to get the trailer. When he arrived it was getting dark and he drove up with the wrong trailer. I was so anxious to get the car I just decided to give it a try. One tire blew out within 6 minutes of driving. The spare had a hole in the side. It took 4 hours to finally get a tire mounted. The lights began falling off and I had to stop and fix everything. I finally got back to work and was looking forward to Friday and Saturday. To make the week even more complete I backed my F-150 into an invisible concrete pillar and jacked up my front left bumper cover and curled the bumper ($1394 to fix). Finally I get to the car only to discover that no matter what I do I cannot get it onto the trailer. There is a laundry list of reasons, but suffice it to say, I didn't get the car this weekend. I have to get it next weekend if I can find a real trailer. If I keep this up I'm just going to buy one. Anybody have a car trailer in the Houston are that I can rent? I will never borrow a trailer from the acquaintance again. He just doesn't take car of his stuff and I can't deal with bailing wire and duct tape type of mods or repairs. If I buy a trailer my wife will go ballistic. I have to be sneaky about it.

Texas is not a strict as California (of course) and once a car is 25 or older it does not need to pass the smog test. Which is fine because most people with 25 year old cars are nuts like us and we keep them tuned up to the point that they would pass as brand new.

I will be picking up my first 1973 240Z a week from Saturday. When I get it I would like to get details on it through the vin number. Is there a decoder somewhere. I did a search on line and got all kinds of crap about buying this or that and where to find this and that but nothing that just decodes the VIN. I put the details of my acquisition in the introduction forum.

Since I just acquired a 1973 240Z I thought I would go on line to learn more about them. I found this site and another and have joined both in the hopes I can learn as much about my Z car as I know about my other vehicles. OK, so you are probably saying "what are the other vehicles?" I have Ford trucks. A 1984 F-150, a 1999 F-150, a 2002 F-350 and a 2006 F-150. I am restoring the 84. My friend gave me this 240Z. I don't have a lot of details other than it has a few rust spots. When I saw it last (several years ago) I told him that if he wanted to get rid of it I was claiming right of first refusal. So it's mine. I have always wanted this car since I saw the first one when I lived in Japan in 1974. Now that I have one I want to build a serious powerhouse for it. Looking for suggestions, tips, ideas, etc. Thanks, Scott
