Well today I gave up looking at my very dim gauges. I replaced all the dash light and bought leds from ebay. I followed this instructions with ease. And this is the result I got after installing and painting the inside white. Now this picture shows the dash on the dimmest setting. <a href=http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m78/supermechanix/?action=view&current=20130202_111602_LLS.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m78/supermechanix/20130202_111602_LLS.jpg border=0 alt=></a> And on the highest setting. Which kinda give it like a lexus instrument look. <a href=http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m78/supermechanix/?action=view&current=20130202_111618_LLS.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m78/supermechanix/20130202_111618_LLS.jpg border=0 alt=></a> Very happy on the results. So thanks for this thread.

Hello fellow members. I am on the same boat. My stock 280z engine is almost dying. I am thinking of rebuilding it but came across this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-240Z-260Z-280Z-ZX-P90-High-Compression-L28-Engine-Motor-Head-w-Warranty-/400371712636?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d3803827c&vxp=mtr Instead of rebuilding my stock, i was wondering getting this. Paired with my stock 5 speed. Since i can pick this up and trade my engine for $150 as a core. I need some opinions regarding the engine posted on ebay. Thanks
  7. I was trying to replace my a/c condenser today because it was leaking. I looked through ebay and found this for 77 280z. Base on the picture, It looks exactly as the OEM. Does anybody has this in their 280z installed? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-Replacement-Air-Condition-AC-A-C-Condenser-Condensor-For-2-8-L6-GAS-/130696518505?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3A280Z&hash=item1e6e1e9b69&vxp=mtr#vi-ilComp

I just need help regarding about the condenser of my 77 280z. Recently I lost all of my freon and turned out to be a leaking condenser. I searched online for replacement and found this link http://www.shepherdautoparts.com/autoparts/w5rDksOawrvCoMObw5PDlcOTwqI=.htm Is this a good quality product? or should I stay with the stock one I have and have it repair in the radiator repair shop? usually to repair, it costs about $40. Thanks (sorry for bringing up an old thread)

They do come with gasket. I just replaced my thermostat last weekend. So the gasket needs to be replaced as well. If you are replacing the gasket, might as well change the thermostat and clean the surface thoroughly so the gasket sits well. You can get the thermostat gasket at www.autozone.com This is what i got for my 77z http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/1977-Nissan-Datsun-280Z/Thermostat-Gasket/_/N-indg1Z91sst?filterByKeyWord=Thermostat&fromString=search
  12. Definitely a leaking heater core. Same problem on my 280. I looped the heater hose in the engine bay, work my way to get the heater core out, send them to the radiator repair shop. Also replace those old hoses inside as well.

Thanks for the link and the info. Mine is already deteriorated and the wind noise is killing me. I guess I will try and search the junkyard and see if there are any alternative from other cars.

Do you guys know if there is a cheapest way to replace the rubber only (#8 in the attached file), before buying these parts at black dragon auto at $49.95 each. Thanks.

I checked the injectors today and no leaks, all vacuum hoses are good, EGR no leaks I didn't know that if it fails, it will say on the paper about being Gross Polluter, since this is the first time I failed on a smog test. CA is such a PITA about smog. Where are the ignition timing mark located? I can't find those degree numbers on these cars It has Catalytic Converter. I will try to replace them tomorrow. Looks like it is still original. Muffler shop charges $180 installed. I don't know how much miles is actually on the car, Engine is original reading 15k, might be 115k, 215k, 315k, no clue. Oil is around 3000k on Castrol synthetic 20w50

The Z didn't pass smog yesterday due to a high HC and CO I attached the results and was wondering what caused this to fail. Car is Stock Replaced Spark Plugs New Fuel Filter, Air Filter No vacuum leaks. Could this be a bad CAT? or Timing is set incorrectly? Thanks for the help Pat I have a 1977 280z

Autozone.com I think I got a remanufactured one. Exactly the same as my old one. Same size. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/1977-Nissan-Datsun-280Z/Control-Module-Ignition/_/N-indg1Z9ci7x?filterByKeyWord=ignition+control+module&fromString=search

Problem Solved!... Thanks for all your help. I did everything what you all said to check. Everything's working. Turned out it was the Ignition Control Module or Transistor Module. Now it does not stall anymore. I am still observing the car for now. Huge Thanks to all of you.... Good Advices. I learned alot on my Z now. FastWoman SbBlake01 Ztrain SbBlake Zed Head

Yes thats correct. As far as i know it could be a switch in the afm that is going bad? correct me if im wrong. Or the fuel pump relay? Thanks
  24. draztik280 posted a post in a topic in Fuel Injection
I found the problem. After starting the car, when i press the gas pedal quickly, the fuel pump shuts off, basically there is no fuel pump voltage. What seems to be the problem here? thanks.

Thanks for all your help. I will gather all this information and see if I can pinpoint the problem. I am really close to thinking if it is the Ignition Control Module, since I was reading through what the symptoms if these things fail, and it is the same problem on my Z. These are on a different cars, since I cannot find about our Z. They say that when that ICM overheats, the car shuts off with no warning, so they let it sit for about 30 minutes to cool down, and when it does, then the car starts like normal. This is exactly what happens on my car. But since I don't want to spend $200 yet. I will try the cheapest part to replace first before I can go to that. Thanks
