I saw that car before the paint, and I would personally steer well clear, have also seen it being driven and he gives it a fair old flogging. Also the candy apple paint job is not that crash hot close up, differs at panel joints where I assume he sprayed laying down off the car.

I have just about finished installing my new RHS floor panel, I had the old panel etc taken back to bare metal then used a spotweld cutter to remove the line of spotwelds along the front and back seams as well as the seat mounts, I then cut along the sill just at the corner where the floorpan bends up and cut along the flat part of the transmission tunnel. I then peeled the remaining side lip off the sill (Just grab with vice grips and tear off) before grinding all lumps smooth and sliding in the new floor panel. A few tack welds before running the jigsaw down the panel on the tranny side to get it all perfect gap wise for a butt weld. So far it appears to have worked like a charm, I will let you know in a few days when its all finished. This is for removing it from the bottom, leaving the front seatmount in for some strength and replacing the frame rail under the floor at the same time. Chris

How do you sell leather by the metre, it can only be the length of one cow, and the width of one cow? We just had a pair of half bucket seats done, and for the primo leather it was 700 and that was only doing the faces of the seats, with the back of the back/sides etc still in vinyl. Leather for couches etc, is not UV stabilised, and will lose die if it gets wet etc as well as cracking in about 1/4 the time car grade leather does. Chris

Just as an afterthought, there is also a 240Z roof going with no rust in the drainage gutters etc, but it does have a couple of dings in the roof, nothing a skim of bog couldnt fix. Probably be best if I didnt have to freight it though, however if you have a will there is a way. Chris

Reply here or via PM Chris
  9. Just as a side note, in the new models of BMW it will maintain speed going down a hill, and if you are on a long descent and keep the foot on the brake, it will even drop it down a gear or two to give you that engine braking. I find it very disconcerting when you take your foot off the brake in a car going down a hill only to have the auto go up a gear or two and the car take off.

Thats the exact same reason why when I put a rim on a mates race car, I always hand him the wheelbrace and make sure he checks it, that way when a wheel comes off at 120km/hr and he veers into a tree, its because he had a big night before, not because I did.
  11. Thanks for that alfa, some very nice pictures on the second link.

Thats all you have to do to install them, its just whether or not you want to be able to use that extra space under the flares when you have to do more than that.

Looks like a webasto sunroof, they are all fabric/vinyl and kind of accordian fold back when opened. If my car had to have a sunroof I could live with this style.

Auto has a little area for cooling the transmission fluid in it, manual doesnt, not a real issue, if its a manual, you just have a couple of spots coming out of the bottom which dont get used.

Now I need to work out how to make my 6.7 self fit in it safely and not have my head folded onto my shoulder . The fun continues.
  20. I understand what they are saying, and you P platers keep wrapping yourself around trees etc. If they dont whack on a curfew, they will give you HP/Engine size restrictions and that could be even worse. What they are aiming to do is stop a heap of young guys getting into a car and going and wrapping it round a tree at over 200 clicks. Its understandable, but in reality its them trying to stop a small minority of people screwing round and wrecking it for everybody. Not nice, but its life, and now I am on my full licence I dont care, but I am sure I was nowhere near as bad a driver as half the P platers who scream past me in high powered cars, totally beyond their driving limits. Well I dragged it home today and the poor thing nearly lost its life, its got a big black mark down one side after a rather hairy trailer blowout where at one point I was praying the whole lot would break free from the car and leave me alone . The good stuff: 92,000 original miles, engine has apparently had a rering and blows no smoke, the interior is great with the exception of the front seat squab, head lining is flawless. For a non runner from his description it took me 10 minutes to get running like a dream, been hacking round the garden all afternoon. Lack of brakes was due to a loose bleeder nipple, and they are good now, but not perfect, maybe bleed them again. No rust in floors etc and no evidence of crash damage. The Bad: Front seat squab, little bit of rust in the rear 1/4s and no wheel trims to speak of. Other than that I am stoked, I have already had two offers to buy it for substantially more than I payed for it from different people, but I am holding onto it for the time being. Cheers Chris PS will post digi pics soon, ****ing camera broke this afternoon and is over exposing again . I think I am in love.
