I just missed out on a KE 10 rally car here for 500 bucks, and that looks perfect for what I need. AND ITS JUST UP THE ROAD FROM ME I will wait and see. Chris

We got bits and pieces, some 240's here came with the indicators in the guards, and some came with them on the bumper, there are even a few I have seen with both.
  7. The dizzy may rev to 9k, but surely the valves would start bouncing, and the bottom end falling apart well before then, assuming its fairly stock? Just curious but what did it rev to originally before things all went to $^!#?
  8. I have a ford one sitting here on an l20B, its an 85 amp from memory, fits well with just a few washers to pack it out to line up well. I will have a look for a model number in daylight hours. Chris

The interior parts are very very dear, even secondhand ones in australia seem to fetch crazy money. To do it up all original looking you would be abour 2k australian for all the bits and pieces via the US (Carpet kit 299.63aus, roof lining 76.24 aus, Diamond vinyl 332 aus then you have the mammoth cost of those interior molded panels and seat covers) I have even seen a person buy a complete but rusty 240 just for the interior parts alone. That said, a few weekends and a few tins of resin and fibreglass, coat it all with vinyl and it could look more than presentable. If the price is right go for it. The good news is even if the rest of the interior was white, the dash was still black, so at least that is all good. Chris

All this, and yet there were cars (inline 6's) which came out with triple SU's stock, and they work a treat? I still dont follow, I am sure there is a reason, I just dont know of it yet.

There was a guy in the local car club who had a set on his 240, it was an original bumper with the centre removed and the edges welded up nicely, not chromed, but they looked well done, he just took them off his car to put on a new bumper, I shall ask him next time I see him what happened to the old ones.

As far as I can tell all front bumpers on aussie Z's are the same as the 240Z ones, the only minor difference may be that some of the 240 ones had holes drilled for those horrid UK style blinkers on top. Cheers

Hey guys, I just picked up a motor and gearbox (L24 and 5 speed). the motor has an e88 head, but only a single carb and the gearbox from the outside looks like a Z one. However the sumps not in the right spot to suggest its a Z motor. Any ideas as to what it may be out of, and how I could tell wether its a Z box or not without stripping it down? Cheers Chris

When painting a car, there are a few things with the masking tape, that make you consider not masking ever again. DO not let it get wet, if it does, peel it straight off and replace with fresh masking tape, and DO not let it get baked on, buy masking tape that says its good to stay on for a week, and dont leave it on for anything more than 10days, especially in hot weather, or the sticky crap left is almost impossible to remove without removing any underlying paint. Other than that its all good. I think 2many is right with the drop sheets, but if the tightarse within calls out, newspaper should be ok, after all its never going to get soaking wet, only hopefully a fairly light overspray. Good Luck CHris

I resent that comment, my Z was saved from a fate as a parts car, and had I not taken it that day, it was going to be parted out. By me putting a set of flares on it and doing it up how I like it (it is my car after all) it keeps another Z car on the road. However just for you I will make sure that I cut the old rusted arches out carefully and keep them in a warm dry place (under my bed) so one day when you decide to buy it back, you can weld on the old lips, unrivet or unscrew (not sure yet) the flares, and with 2 seconds work, mig weld up the tiny holes. (I am keeping my original front guards, and using 260 ones with the light hole so the originals will be safe for your purists). Its not like a ricey wing or some such is being added either, its adding what was a factory available part? I am the first to say I wouldnt hack up a car as pristine as yours, however its horses for courses, and for me a little extra rubber and a wider/tougher look is just what i am after. Cheers Chris

That and the buyers will know that all the profit (which probably isnt all that much after ash makes the mould and lays them up by hand, not with a cheap nasty chopper gun effort) will go to removing the porsche indent from the side of a lovely racecar.

I got my set of luggage straps from a guy wrecking a 74 260 with the white interior, straps were black, they were black in my 76 260 2+2 as well. Cheers Chris

I used their repair panels for the rear quarters of the 1600 that I did, the metal was thinner than the original (and thats saying something), shape was not quite right, and they were overall a bit long ie 4mm which made life difficult. I spoke to a guy who used their doorskins, and he was of the impression they were ok w ithout being fantastic. Cheers Chris

I dont reckon we got mirrors like that over here (well I havent seen any). Most of the ones I have seen were chrome stalk with rectangular heads. Cheers Chris

  22. Its ok, I figured 5 dollars to be the absolute maximum I would pay for a gregorys manual, and even then its almost more than its worth. Hope its plenty of use. Chris
