Saw Another 240Z Today!
I was out driving the other night and I noticed someone keeping pace along side of me, so I turned to look and it was a guy in a Jeep asking if mine used to be white. Said he had one setup like mine but was white years ago. Although mine started out gold. I love this car.

I found the problem with the engine today, seems that when I put the head back on I got the cam off by one tooth. I corrected the problem and the car is running fantastic. Pulls hard all the way through the revs. I had a blast today. Now I just need to finish up the other little tasks.

After 6 years, finally on the road
Enjoy, nothing like that feeling of working and working and finally getting to hit the open road. Of course now I'm chasing quirks, but thats another story. Glad to see another back on the road.

Didn't get a chance to pull the floats and check them today, spent the day cleaning the garage instead. But I did take some updated photos that I thought I would share.

That is the ceiling, once I hit it won't go beyond. I visited a guy a little while ago and just listening to it at idle he said that the timing needed some advance. So I'm gonna move my distributer gear one tooth when I get home and hit it with a timing light to see where I'm at.

You gotta add all those little touches just so that yours is unique. I'll get more pictures over the weekend, with all the body panels on. At least all but the grill and the taillight surrounds.

Well I got the inspection sticker this morning, and Drove it to work. Still got a few little demons to work out of the system. Starts sputtering a little when you get around 4500 rpms. I've got the distributer turned as far as it will go, so I need to drop the oil pump and move it another tooth, I'm hoping that is what is causing the sputter, any ideas? Also, Went throught the engine last night and checked and adjusted the hot valve clearences. I'm still getting some tapping noise in the system. is this normal or am I missing something?

Cleaning Oxidized Bumpers
I'm amazed. While working on my 71 project the ebumpers have been hanging in a guys garage rafters for the past 30 years. They were very rough to the touch and oxidized. I took them to the kitchen sink (yes amazingly with my wifes approval) and used a brass bristeled brush, and cold tap water. The bumpers are smooth and shine now. Another evening with a buffer and some chrome polish just to see if I can get some more shine from them. Another task down on the road to go for a long drive in the country.. I love my Z

The orange is a '64 GMC truck color called Omaha Orange. We then used some house of kolor gold flake in the first coat of clear to give it a nice twinkle in the light. We laid the paint as follows, a Yellow tinted primer, then the orange, Clear with flake next, and 2 more coats of clear over the flake. We still need to wet sand and buff, once I get the rest back in place. Its been a blast so far.

:classic:Getting closer, hopefully only another few weeks and I'll be out on the road. My cousin who owns serveral MG's and a Bug Eye sprite came over this evening and helped get the SU's tuned in as best we could with open headers on the car. I'm still waiting on a few panels from the body shop, and a replacement seat cover for the one I ordered that had the stiching comming out of it. And I of course still need an exhaust and new side mirrors for the car. Pictures so far through the Journey. http://s756.photobucket.com/albums/xx206/wvmiata/ Oh and I didn't take the car for a spin as it sits in the picture to see how quick it goes under acceleration. Of course if I did I would tell you how amazing it felt to zip down the road.:classic:

Help Needed with Rubber seals on Windows
I am in the process of reassembly of a 1971 240z. I am working on the doors more importantly the windows. When installing the window frame there are two rubber seals that go in the front and back of the window track. There is also a rubber seal on the quarter window. Could someone please take some detailed pictures of these seals so I can figure out how in the world they go in. I purchased this car in pieces so I was not the one who took them out, so I am just guessing trying to get them back in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
