71 240z Alternator Upgrade
Yes I know there are about a dozen write ups or questions about upgrading the early Z's alternator, but this one is a little different. The upgrade that I did was a 95 Nissan Quest alternator, which is rated at 110amp output. High for most Z guys but helpful none the less. I'm not done with the install yet but I will be soon and will give a full write up with pictures to help others with the install. So everyone knows now there will be modifications required for this, i have also tried to address the issue of the belts breaking with the higher output alt. as well. Let me know what you think of this as I go along any and all feed back is appreciated. Kevin

Mustache bar bushing replacement
Thanks I'll give those paints a go, and anything in a spray can will be good since I don't have a paint gun.

Factory Motor Specs
Ok I searched here first to see if some had posted these already but found nothing. I'm looking for the factory motor specs, you know displacement, bore, stroke, cam lift things like that. I have a built L24 motor and was trying to figure out the differences in motor specs. Thanks a lot.

New Socal Z guy
Well as I said I would post pictures once I got my camera back and I did so here it is. At current it's not much to look at but that doesn't bother me. I recently fabricated a new battery tie (it works great) and I also fabricated two pieces of my throttle assembly, the old ones had cracked. Also got an idea on horsepower from a friend of mine that used to professionally race 3 of these years ago. With what the motor has done to it, it should be making about 250 or more. I just need to make sure I can get that to the wheels now.

New Socal Z guy
Well I used to be a rotary guy kinda still am but figured I'd take a break and get into a car I'd wanted for many years. The S30. I'd been into RX7's for the last 5 years with my main car being a 1990 2nd gen rx7, which I had put well over 10k into. It was a great car and I will miss it a lot but I'm hoping to get the Z up to that level as well. Well enough about my rotary past and into the future. My new project is a 1971 datsun 240z it's overall a relatively solid car just needs a few things I'm sure everyone here is familiar with the things an old Z needs. On the plus side I got the car with a built motor cams, rods, pistons, etc., can't wait to get a ball park on horsepower so I know where the car sits.
