I have a Zcar in San Jose Ca, that I would like to sell. I really like my car but I need to sell it so that I can go to school. It still needs some work but I think that it is a very good canidate for restoration. I have done alot of minor work to it myself and a few of the larger projects that I've tackled were, instaling some 72' carbs, some new seats, I had a hatch painted and installed, I put a new clutch in, I installed a new manifold gasket and completly replaced the rear brakes. The engine has very little blow by so I don't think that the car has very many miles. I also have a new carpet kit, a clean grill and heater vent cowling, that I would be glad to inclued with the car. I think that $1,500 is a fair price, but I am willing to negociate. If anyone has any questions you can contact me directly at 408 343-9207. -madsoul

I have a 73 240z that leaks oil when the engine is running. It does not seen to leak when the engine is off. A friend told me that this was a spesific symptom of a leak at the oil pump, and that I should look in to replacing it. Has any one heard of this before? And couldn't the oil stop leaking when the engine is off because there is no pressure in the system, therefore the leak could be anywhere? thanks Madsoul

I bet you could get a few hundred dollars for a right side mirror in america.

I recently bought my first 73' 240z. When I bought it the guy I got it from just handed me the drivers side mirror. A few days later when I got the the thing running well enough to get home I realized that I have a Z, I have a mirror but I have no way to attach them. If any one was willing to part with their extra mirror bolts please let me know. My Z would be so much more legal with that mirror. -madsoul

I just posed a simular question to my parts guy a few hours ago. He told me that the 240z's never had mirrors on the passenger side, in america. The mirror that 70-73 240z have are the squarish chrome mirrors. Then after 73 we got the plastic round mirrors. However, in europe and asia cars did get both mirror but they weren't made by Datsun but by some italian company. He also said that "Z" race cars in America got cool cast iron mirrors that are convex and extremly hard to come by. I don't know how much of this is fact, because I just met the guy. If you want to speak to him directly about this subject let me know and I will give you his e-mail address. Sadly my Z only has one mirror. I would love to have the other mirror. If the Z's over there are right hand drive, do you think it would be possible for you to send me a stock chrome driver side mirror, that I could place on the passenger side of my car. send my an E-mail at bassplaynfool@yahoo.com if you think this could be a possibility. -Madsoul

I have an extra set of complete up-draft hitachis for a 73' 240z. I need to sell them and could let them go for $50 bucks. They are in running condition and would be solid after a new seal kit was installed. -Madsoul

I looked in the repair book a few days ago and I think it was 3.4 psi. I don't remember what it was in pascals or what ever the metric measure is but I could look it up if you want me to. madsoul.

Thanks for you help guys. It looks like the solution is pretty clear. I will look for some round tops and not the webers.

there isn't any chance that you still have a set of carbs I could buy is there. I have a 73' and I just can't get them to run right. -madsoul

I have a 73 240 and I think that its probobly time to rebuild my carbs. Every one I talk to seems to have an intense dislike for the flat top carbs. So I'm thinking that I might just want to pick up a nice set of used carbs. Either 71's or maybe some double webers seem to be more readily available although they are also a little more expensive. What do you guys think about the cost vs performace of these two systems. Or which set do you think that Ill prefer. I have helped to install 71's and that seemed to be fairly easy. How much more complicated are the weber 32/36s to install? Any thoughts or theroys are much appreciated, madsoul

I have a 73 240 with flat tops. My runs like it is starved fuel. It feels like I am running out of gas if I maintain a high rpm. So, I dropped in some fuel dryier and replaced my fuel filters, then I replaced all my vacume lines and just recently checked my fuel pressure, cause I figured that the pumps couldn't keep the float bowls full and to my suprise the pressure ranged from 4.4 to 4.6psi. At idle and under load. I was wondering at what point too much fuel pressure becomes a problem? I was also wondering if anybody knew what the spec on the fuel volume was? Thank you for your time, madsoul
