  1. I don't know what to tell you but I'm in the market for a 280z that is in great condition. I don't know anything about your car but I would be interested in learning more. Please contact me if you could to let me know more info about the car. Thanks, C
  2. I was wondering if someone could help me.. I am looking to buy a '76-'78 280z right now because I miss the first car I had in high school. I have the vin number for the car and I wanted to see what has happened to my old car. I bought it right around the time of 11-1-94, it had 29,513 miles showing on the odometer at the time (I'm pretty sure it was actually 129,513), and it was a black '78 280z 5-speed. It has now been over ten years so it could be that the car is gone now . It was 11 of 77 or 78 and the number on it was HLS30-438093. I sold it to a teen and his father around '96 or '97. The car was in DFW, TX when I bought it and it was sold in DFW, TX. Thanks in advance to any help, C

Wow, I didn't realize it was so much.. I am not going to be doing the work myself, I would be using a Z specialty shop. Any other imput would be helpful but in the meantime I will try to look into past threads... Thanks, C

I was wondering if I could get an idea as to the cost of installing A/C in a '73 240z... TIA, C

I wonder if places that specialize in working on older Z cars could do it for me (if I get a car that I want to replace the stereo in) (and know what they are doing with installing it!). I also was wondering with the other posters with the retro stereos.. to do that, could I have a cd player with it, in the glove box or under the seat as suggested? What I want is even just a one CD stereo with am and fm radio. One that is MP3 compatible for cds that are burned... Thanks for the info, C
  6. I only have myself as a driver in my household (only me and my 5 year old boy) and this is a second (not primary) car... will look into it, thanks! -C
  7. I'm looking to get a z car (probably 76-79 280z) and wanted to know any information people have on car insurance options. I have heard of "classic car insurance" and don't know much about it. I also am interested in what the most suggested thing to do as far as insurance is concerned. I am trying to get an idea as to how much to expect in cost for insurance and what the wisest thing to do for it should be. This will be a car in good to very good condition, a 2nd car to be driven just some of the time (not the main car I'm driving). I live in a big city in Texas, and it would be garage kept (possibly with a cover as well). Thanks, C

Thank you for the imput on this subject. I understand everything that was said, and to tell the history of this car, the car already has been repainted, like I mentioned, 5 years ago (it's a 78).. I have seen enough pictures to tell that it was painted completely, so there is nothing showing of the original paint. The original paint is the same color it is now. I am not sure if I want to sell the car in the future, but most likely not unless I am desperate for money (it will be a second car). My son who is 5 said that he wants us to keep whatever car we get so that he can drive it when he's an adult. I am thinking that my own happiness with the car probably means more than the money, it's just that these cars are quite rare (especially to find in the condition that you want, and even more rare, the color that you want). I guess that because it is within driving distance (3.5 hrs away) I should at least check it out... My own personal taste with what I am looking to do with my z is keeping it mostly classic, but having a few more modern additions (such as cd player, tinted windows, headlight covers). I want the car to be classic with a little bit of modernization. Thanks for the imput, I'm still interested in knowing about how much new paint costs (doing it without taking the whole car apart where you can tell it's been painted when you look in certain places, and also doing it where every single thing is painted). -C

I'm looking at a 78 280z to buy that has the original radio. I want to replace it with a cd player/radio. How much can I expect to pay for something that is good quality (the stereo and labor for a place to put it in for me)? Thanks, C

I am looking to buy a 280z right now and found one that I like pretty well that isn't that far from me. The only thing about it is that the color is not one I like! The paint is about 5 years old and is in good condition (meaning it does not need to be repainted). I have two questions : 1. Would it devalue the car to repaint it again? It's been kept pretty stock, which is what I'm looking for. 2. How much are we talking about to repaint a car at a quality place where the work is good? I don't believe the car has any known rust, and the color I want would be a color from that year model.. Thanks for any help on this! -C
  12. I had a 77 or 78 280z for my first car (5 speed) in high school, and I loved it, too. I know the feeling you are talking about and I am starting my search for another one. GREAT car.. congrats! Welcome here, I'm fairly new here, too.. -C
  13. Wow, I'm sorry to hear that.. I guess that the good news is that it's a car that someone wants! What an idiot guy he was.. glad to hear he didn't get far with things. I had some things stolen by someone at a 7-11 a couple of weeks ago and that hasn't really happened to me before, makes you feel kinda wierd and wonder about just people in general. wierd.
  14. I was wondering about this because I wonder how my 77 or 78 280z is doing these days. Got it in high school and had it during part of college. Loved that car, sold it to a 15 or 16 year old guy and his dad. But now I'm looking for a new baby and wondered if anyone had any stories (and pics) of z's that they used to have and then got back at one point or another. I'm sorry if my topic isn't right for this section, I'm very new to this site.. -C
  15. , that's funny.. I don't remember that I found anything in my z I used to have but it will be fun if I could find some treasures in the new (well, old, ) z that I get. I'm looking for a 70 something z, probably 76-78 280.
