When i start the car, exhaust is white but when it warms up its colourless. It does dump a little water when starting to move. Dont know about the cap. Water temperature rises 3/4 and returns to normal, everytime when i drive it. But i think thats normal. So even tiny radiator leak smells that bad? There has been a very small amount of water (like few drops) in the engine side but not enough to fall to the ground.

There is indeed small leakage inside car on the passenger side. I dont know where it leaks but its not leaking much, few drops. Suggestions?? BUT it does not explain the odor from outside car. Its 10 times bigger than inside.

Hiya. Thermostat has been replaced and the radiator flushed. Twice. No leaking coolant and no moist inside car. Got to triple check all the hoses though.

Ok i have 72 240z and there is this really weird smell in AND out of the car when its warm. Its not gasoline for sure. Its more like sugary smell or something. My whole garage smells like it after car has been run warm (outside) and brought inside. My Z is not leaking BUT the rear end is literally covered with crap. I think i smell it more inside if i switch heater options to hot.. Please help, i want to get rid of that. Ive sealed tail light and all the possible holes from the rear end and also my muffler tip is 2" extended to keep out the fumes.

First of all, what model, what year etc? Sounds like bad coil to me.

It seems i need to change my head gasket, i removed the oilpan and there was some white substance with oil.. I've never changed head gasket, so all the hints are valuable to me. I really hate the idea that i need to dismantle half motor but guess i have to.

HAHAHAHA By the way, is there PROPER overflow tank anywhere for 240Z? MSA and BD have exactly the same. I dont want to make any extra holes in my z..

That dual lock is also an option, but it seems a bit too weak, it sticks to the metal but the contact surface (furry) does not convince me. (i use to work with those in my previous job) I guess im going to try out that butyl strip, it costs a lot (29€/4meter roll) but its worth a shot. I'll report the results. Curves: how did you sealed the panel with polyurethane? Did you coated it with it or?

Hiya Im about to install my original door panels WITHOUT the rivets. All the rivetholes on doors are somewhat busted so they wont hold, also the rivets in panel dont stay in place, cardboard is ripped in those places. Has anyone experience installing door panels "other" way? I can't remember where someone suggested me to use this http://www.3mselect.co.uk/p-1016-3m-5313-butyl-strip-sealant-20mm-x-10m.aspx to attach the panel to the door. I got small piece of this butyl strip and it seems very sticky. It suppose to be weather resistant. Thoughts?:bulb:

I took out the entire assembly, lubricated and greased it, no problems. Works like a charm. If you dont count that my wiper switch goes crazy occasionally. BTW. anyone knows where to get those nice chrome wipers?

When i got my Z from California, it was leaking oil from every seal possible. I changed seals and oil to Mobil 1 10W-40 semi-synthetic and 80% of the leaks disappeared. Only oilpan seal is leaking. My other datsun also seems to run well with 10W-40, its thick enough.

Blackdragon shows that there is 3 different kind of cylinders. One for 70-72 models, one for 73-83 and one for 81-83 ZxTurbo models. Maybe the cylinder you got is from -72z? Luckily it's cheap part.

Can you pull the antenna up "manually" ? I tried it (not by force) but it didnt raise.

I inspected some more. I already have cleaned both but apparently not good enough. I took out the round dome off from the left one to see does it work at all. It does turn half a turn quickly (both ways) but then it stucks. I better start dismantling it into pieces, just gotta figure how to remove the final part over the gearwheel. I had my electrician friend to inspect both of them and they seem to be electrically ok.

Yeah i'd mount too but the engine is busted. Im no electrician so i dont know how to fix it..

Okay, my situation is this. I got original antenna when i bought the car but the mast was busted. Now i've purchased another motor antenna with mast on, BUT they are different (see the picture) Will both fit in 240Z? AND will the mast from the left one fit to the right one? There is a problem here, left one has pristine mast but engine seems to be busted, it sounds like " wank wank wank" when the other sounds "buzzzzzzzz" What should i do?

Anyone have pictures of Banzai motorworks seat cover set? Im planning to purchase those but i'd love to see BIG pictures before i deciede. They state in their website that those covers are made by the same company that did seats for the Z-restoration program in 90's.

Hahaha. This might be related to topic: I too started to have weird whistle sound coming from the engine. It usually starts about 1 min after start and it pitches very high and lasts for a while. I've replaced all the hoses.. How can i pinpoint the origin of that?
