Trimmer pot screws on tachs?

Did jay spill the beans?
That mini z appears to have nothing in common with the original, other that maybe 4 wheels and a windshield. It is described as a front wheel drive coupe destined mainly for the Chinese market. I assume it will be badged with a lower case "z".

Cleaning aluminum parts
I just saw a link on this site about boiling in lemon juice. I have not tried it, but it looked pretty cool.

What to take off an '83 zx?
As stated above, a stock 240 with a manual tranny should have a 3.36 diff. With the gearing of a 5 speed (certainly for an '83 5 speed) you will have very tall gearing. This means that you can cruize at 85 mph on the highway at 2,300 rpm but getting off the line will be very sluggish.

What to take off an '83 zx?
Changing to an R200 will require some other mods- moustache bar, possibly half shafts and maybe some other parts. You can probably find an R180 with 3.7, 3.9 or 4.11 gears. I know there has been a guy trying to sell some of those diffs on the L A Craigs List.

is this real
That's what I have on my car. My motor has a "Remanufactured by Nissan" tag and number on it. I'm guessing it was rebuilt within the past 10 years.

Lost the Clutch, but I made it home!
...and don't buy the parts at Home Depot.

How Close Are Our VIN #'s
At some point there was a much more complete version of this. On this one all 240's manufactured after 10/71 appear to have been deleted.

Antena toggle switch
Chris, I have the same issue, with the big old switch hanging down on the passenger's side. I plan on installing a small rocker switch in one of the 2 blanks that are located in the center console (I have a '73 but I assume the other years have the same blanks).

Cam Shaft Condition
Definitely shows your wipe pattern. Everything looks smooth. I'd imagine that it would clean off with steel wool, though I wouldn't recommend using it due to the metal strands you'd leave behind.

Repairing Seat Back Sheet Metal
Or you could just get a "new" seat. There are plenty of them out there.

Anyone know about Jay Leno's Z cars?
I did get a thumbs up from him on the freeway a few weeks back when I was driving the Z back from Supercar Sunday. He tends to show up at the last Sunday of each month.

Fit of 1973 dash cap
Steve, if you can't find the "correct" dash cover, I would imagine that most of the fitment issues could be cured by some patient work with a heat gun, since the initial shape was formed with heat. However, the plastic will go from solid to liquid very quickly. You might want to bend some pieces of sheet metal in the appropriate radii to use as forms until the plastic cool and hardens. I've had to do similar work on my roadster with decent results. Keep in mind that if the plastic gets too soft and you press on it, you run the risk of smoothing out the texturing.

Ruby Ridge video
I always knew that Z people were a "different" lot. By the way, you may have noticed the passenger's side mirror on that car...the conspiracy continues...

car is sluggish
5w20 might be a bit thick for the dashpot oil, but I don't think it would cause the car to stall. Have you checked the fuel filter and the banjo screens at the carbs? Also make sure the vacuum advance on the dizzy is operating.

Roanoke, VA CL: Nov. '69 240z
Yeah, its too bad the sheet metal has been messed with on such a low number car. However, not irreversible for someone looking for an early Z.

Door Window frames on an early 240z
Granny, they will buff out faster if you hit them first with a fine grit wet sandpaper-like 1500-2000.

Huh? No shake.
You can always relocate a wheel weight, for nostalgic purposes.

Carl, if she is busy driving then she can't.....nevermind.

Doing laps *incar videos*
Oh that's REAL nice! Kind of like watching a bad porno, where you make it through the plot and the tape breaks before the money shot! Can we please have a password?

What if....
I'd take as much time off as the wife and kids gave me, and I'd drive the car---on a really long drive---with really twisty roads. When my back got sore I'd return home, take a break, and then head out again, maybe to find a track.

tranny/speedo question
What Olzed is saying is that the tack is controlled electronically basically off the distributor. Tachs are notorious for going bad over the course of 40 years. It is possible to have them rebuilt, where they replace the guts. By the way, I remember the old days, when "blowing a tranny" just meant car trouble.

Mirrors
Sorry, I thought I had been clear but perhaps not-pretty common per my wife. That's why attached a pic of my car. The one that Dean has is NOT ambidextrous, and it is NOT a lefty that has been flipped around. It is a new casting that is a reflection of the driver's side. "Enantiomers" for you chemistry people, much like your left and right hands. So I guess the good news is that he either has them or can get them (with flat mirrors). The bad news is that they are not cheap. Perhaps if there are enough orders, the price will go down. So the only questions become,1) Is he now able to have them made with the Convex mirror, or do you have to get hold of a convex mirror, cut it to size, and glue it onto the flat one? and 2) What is the price point that makes it worth your while. Personally, I like having the "original" one on both the driver's and passenger's side, but that is personal preference. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a bulky, plasticy, gay looking, riveted on, wanna-be-modern appendage lashed on to your otherwise sweet looking ride. So...that being said, with the mirror base he made, and with the convex mirror attached, there is plenty of movement to see the blind spot that you need to see. In other words, you are not staring at a reflection of the interior of your car.

Mirrors
I actually got the prototype that he made with the convex mirror. It IS a mirror (no pun intended) casting of the driver's side as opposed to just being the driver's side flipped over. They are reproductions to the same specs as oem, including the parting line in the mold, but the oem's were flat. You are correct in stating that they are of marginal use with a flat mirror since the field of view is so small. The manufacturer is having a tough time getting the stainless housing to knurl over the convex mirror without cracking it, but they are still working on it. You could take a flat mirror and add a cut convex one from a more modern car (I had used an Integra mirror on my prior round) and silicone it on top. It is a bit of work but it is also a HUGE benifit to be able to see traffic coming from the passenger's side.

Anybody trim bell house for msa header?
Seems to me you should get social security after paying in for the lifetime of your career, but we all know how that's going to end up.
