SU Carbs are on but still wont start up
Also make sure the nozzles are dropping down when the choke lever is pulled. If you can't richen the mixture, the car will probably not hold an idle until warmed up. If this comment or the one above do not make sense, you need to get hold of the Z therapy carb video and watch it a few times.

Datsun-Parts
Just to clarify, there is a Datsun Parts (that sells roadster stuff+ some crossover Z stuff) and Datsun Parts LLC, which is referenced above. Just make sure you know which one you are dealing with.

That little screw holding the choke lever
Can you just grind down the head diameter of the screw that you have to get it to fit?

Hls30-00502
That is a great story. Please keep us updated when you can. Will this car need a repaint, or can you keep the original?

Radiator cooling capacity is dropping
I would first yank the thermostat, and see if you have the same results. Then check if your radiator needs to be rodded out. If you are saying that it worked at some point, that something has changed within the system. A full shroud will help at idle, but at 75 mph you should be moving enough air to cool adequately.

The sickness continues
In case anyone is interested in the progress, this car is now roadworthy. In addition to changing out fuel lines and boiling out the tank I have replaced the clutch, patched some rust holes in the floor, and cleaned and rust proofed most of the interior. The car runs great, and it looks like I will be selling it to a friend of mine. I'm glad to get this car back into circulation. At the same time, another friend of mine recently told me, "I have come to realize that I was not put on this earth to resurrect old cars." I had some downtime on another project, so I did have the time to work on this car, but at the same time, I have an appreciation for his comments. I think we all do this because we love the cars so much. Pics below:

My early 260z weighs 2440lbs
I drove my '73 onto a truck scale. It showed 2,450 with me and one of my tool boxes in it (appx 180 lbs between us) and the original spare tire. That nets about 2,270. The car had roughly a 1/2 tank of fuel, no smog equipment, and TTT front control arms and TC rods + a rear sway bar. Other than those, the car is pretty much stock.

My steering wheel restore detailed.
The wheel from one of my Z's was not to bad so I hit it last night with a plastic rubbing compound and a buffing wheel on the drill press. The luster came right back. The best part is that the horn button kept on popping off since the ridges that hold it to the steering wheel were worn away. Rotating the button allowed it to "grip" the wheel in different spots. I found that the center Nissan logo is pretty easy to remove, rotate, and then refasten to make up for the button's rotation. The wheel on my other car is a bit more worn, So I plan on wet sanding it and then buffing.

Removing Panel Retainers: 240Z
By "pins" he means in the center of the retainers. They might not be that visible, but if you get a thin nail and push it into the center of the retainers, the pin should push through. Then you can pull the fasteners out. And you will probably be able to find most, if not all of the pins once you remove the interior panels.

I'm not the one with the Captain Obvious avatar, but can't you just drive faster?

Something werid going on with the slave cylinder
Did you use the same pressure plate and throwout bearing collar that were used with the other tranny? Also, it is way too clean under there and that may be part of your problem.

Online Z Car registry
I don't have anything newer than that date, but that version was fairly recent. I just saved the file onto my computer, so if it ever gets lost hit me up. I also need to add the last '73 I bought to the list.

The Z that almost killed me
You can run cold water through the motor after first starting it up- maybe for a few minutes after. But cold water and a hot block are not a good combination. As stated above, in addition to the fluids you should change all 4 brake lines so you don't get surprised at speed.

Need help for the connection of Evaporation Tank 's Evaporation hose ..1971 240 z
I recently replaced all hoses on one of my Z's. It appearance that the multiple vapor hoses are needed due to the baffling in the tank (which minimizes gas sloshing around). The baffles essentially create separate pockets at the top of the tank, and each needs to be vented. It seems to me that they could have collected them together in a manifold and then sent one or two hoses back to the recovery tank, but why make it easy on yourself?

Looking to buy my 1st (to me) 240z.
I'm not saying the car is good or bad, but you gotta love the description "could use a wax tho" when it has multiple colors + primer on it.

Need help for the connection of Evaporation Tank 's Evaporation hose ..1971 240 z
Im not sure that the 240's had then carbon canister-neither of my '73s has them. They do have a vent line that runs up to the engine compartment, through a spring loaded check valve, and into the air cleaner. When the vapor pressure builds up high enough, it overcomes then spring and gets sucked I to the engine.

Safe distance from salt water for parking a car
It also makes a difference exactly where the car parked relative to buildings. A friend of mine has an apartment on the ocean front in Venice, and the difference in corrosion rate (on balcony railings) is incredible between the front and rear of the building. He ultimately scrapped out the iron and replaced with stainless.

Z therapy SU carbs not running right.
Have you reset the needle height in the dashpot piston per the Z Therapy video? This wouldn't necessarily change how it runs, but if the needles are too low they would require the mixture nuts to be lower to compensate.

Track car wheel help..
Keep in mind that the 7" dimension is the interior. Exterior dimension of that wheel will be more like 8"' which means a 4" backspacing with zero offset. Add to this another 1/2" or so for tire bulge beyond beyond the rim and you'll get a better idea of the total clearance that you need.

Finally fitted some new seats
I did the same thing a couple years ago. You'll never know this since you never drove on the Z seats, but the Miata seats hold you in WAY better than stock. Also, since they are fabric they are much more comfortable than vinyl in hot weather.

Recommendations for flooring pad
The guy that made my carpet glued carpet padding to the underside. I've glued similar padding to the back side of the interior plastic panels when I've had them out of the car. It greatly reduces creaking and road noise.
