  1. I saw that too. What's that smell? Blood in the water? Has some other janky stuff going on. Still, overall, not bad. Maybe $20,000?
  2. K&N...ugh. Is the owner royalty? Looks like they live in a castle. The silver 71 is already up to $34,000. This guy might get his 25.

Maybe room for the new Space Force. Or Donald is going to start a new country out there.
  6. Another 71, original vintage. Probably has a high reserve, check out the cost of recent service. Gonna have to go through that invoice.... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-156/ A $13,182 service performed at SZR Pro of Houston, Texas in July 2019 included the aforementioned brake and interior work plus the following, as detailed on a four-page invoice pictured in the gallery: Changing the fluids (engine, transmission, clutch, differential, coolant) Adjusting the valves Replacing the front and rear main seals Straightening the oil-pan flanges Re-coring the radiator Replacing the water-pump bypass and other hoses Replacing the drive belts, fuel filter, and hood seals Replacing the battery and battery cables Replacing the clutch pilot bearing and transmission tail seal Replacing the differential pinion seal and cover gasket Replacing the exhaust system
  7. Details! Could be many things... But at least you solved one electrical problem. Merry Christmas.

@siteunseen had success with one of the ABS pipe adhesives I think. He repaired his console, which is the same material. Maybe get a discount from the seller and try to fix it, if you can't get a refund. @Terrapin Z probably has that part and knows how to package/ship it.
  9. Christmas eve morning entertainment. The 78 is getting some love. Auction ends in 30 minutes and it's up to $21,000. $22,000. Sold for $27,500. Original has value. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1978-datsun-280z-81/?utm_source=dm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2020-12-24

At least they are getting economic and social development done somewhere. It's just crazy-town folks. Don't spend too much time trying to make sense of it. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/12/24/pompeo-us-consulate-western-sahara-450371 "Pleased to announce the beginning of the process to establish a U.S. consulate in Western Sahara, and the inauguration of a virtual presence post effective immediately!" Pompeo tweeted Thursday afternoon. "We look forward to promoting economic and social development, and to engage the people of this region." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Sahara Its surface area amounts to 266,000 square kilometres (103,000 sq mi). It is one of the most sparsely populated territories in the world, mainly consisting of desert flatlands.
  11. Could somebody photoshop (is that still a thing?) some silverish wheels on this car? Just seems like it needs it. Very bright, and yet still dark, 72 for sale. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-datsun-240z-157/
  12. The injectors and fuel rail might be fine or they might be rusty. It's hard to say. Disconnect a few lines and look inside. Fuel filter and cold start valve are easy to get to. The Body Electrical chapter shows where all of the relays are and has a drawing of the fuse box. Also has many small wiring diagrams that are very detailed. Spend some time there, and in Engine Electrical and in Engine Fuel.
  13. Even 1989 is 31 years ago. Even in California there's going to be moisture in the tank, besides the stuff left behind when it evaporates. The pump is probably shot. But, the pump does not get power unless the key is at Start or the engine is running. Don't run the pump though, until you know the tank is clean. You'll just push all of the crud in to the fuel line to the filter. Also beware of the old high pressure EFI lines. They are usually cracked inside after many years and can split or leak.

Here are some good wasp and hornet videos. This guy is kind of odd, he seems to be working for his chickens. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCb-mXwDehQf0pEgS0rlGJ9w

There's a nature show out there somewhere, I saw it years ago, about a guy in Japan who was a Murder Hornet tracker. He would catch one and tie a thread around it with a small piece of white paper attached. Then he'd chase after it to find the nest. It was a pretty good show I'm surprised that none of the networks have dug it out yet. Apparently the big concern is that they can wipe out a honey bee hive in about 20 minutes. They just crawl in and start biting the heads off of them. And, side-note, honeybees are actually not indigenous to North America. They were imported from Europe. Now, back to our normal programming...
  16. $15,000 for the bumperless 77, with a free shoe. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-datsun-280z-48/
  17. Just for fun. Pretty good money. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-chevrolet-camaro-62/
  18. Just be careful with what you find on the internet. Members have been collecting what they can and uploading it here but I've found mislabeled material around the internet. As for 1977, 77 was the first year of the new door style. And the raised deck in the back with the space saver tire. There are also some odd cylinder heads out there too, apparently. It's a change year. My picture was just showing why I thought the diagram was wrong. I just couldn't see the connections. It should be fine.

    Yes, it is.
  20. I figured out what they did. They just didn't use very big marks to show the connections. So tiny. You'll find that 77 is kind of a transition year for several things, and for whatever reason many of the documents out there are incomplete or are actually 1976 documents.
  21. Check the wires at the starter. The power supply wire to the car uses the starter lug as a connection point to the fusible links which lead to the ignition switch. Check the fusible links also, it's common for them to have a poor connections at the terminal block. Plus, since your battery was connected backward, some of them might be burnt. Basically, you need to use your meter to follow the path and confirm continuity to the right areas. It won't be easy, sounds like you had a mess when you started. Battery > starter lug > fusible links > electrical components. There's something not quite right with that wiring diagram I had here. Deleted it. 1976 makes more sense and should be the same. Shows lights, etc. fed from main link and battery.
  22. The length of the wires suggests that they are connected correctly though. The positive connection is farthest away. Hope there's no damage. Your battery is actually what's flipped, which is how you got in to this mess. Positive typically is under the fender edge. More Nissan genius.
  23. By the way, if you disconnect the two EFI connections you should be able to work on the other stuff without it. It's what people do when they switch to carbs. Disconnect here where I circled. That is EFI power and ground. Two red wires - thank you Nissan. Then reconnect your battery, see if the engine still spins (the right way), get your coil power back, shoot some starting fluid, etc. Let your sub-brain ponder the EFI power situation while you work on that stuff.
