Drew Brees seems like one of the more intelligent quarterbacks around and even he doesn't know how to wear a face covering, apparently. Can't figure out if these guys really are just dumb or if they know better and are making some sort of statement. Just some weird weird stuff going on in the world today.
  2. Not the kit, but the guy that owns the store, he's been around for quite a while. He used to be Datsun Parts LLC. You can search that on the internet. His new name comes up on the site occasionally, I added a search link below.. His screen name on the forum is URGELIS. https://www.classiczcars.com/profile/13357-urgelis/ https://www.classiczcars.com/search/?&q="california datsun"&search_and_or=and&sortby=relevancy
  3. The Body chapter has tramming info that might help.
  4. How early is the VIN? Is the car going to be worth anything with these oddities? Don't forget the steering gear, which is attached to the wheels. Good luck!
  5. The early VIN Z's had the set-forward diff, with a different, shorter, propeller shaft. Could that be the issue?
  6. Browse over this page on BAT and you can see, pretty much just by looking at the pictures and prices, that deleting the big bumpers doesn't add much. Maybe even hurts. If you're planning to put it back on BAT in the future, and make a profit, best do what the actual buyers will pay for. You can even read through the comments on a typical BAT auction and see that most of the comments come from people who aren't buying. Your car is very original and in great shape, by the pictures. The cars that make the money are either the original cars or the heavily, professional level, modified cars. There are many half-done cars that don't do well at all. Make sure you know what you want the final product to look like and that you can actually get it done. It would be a shame to ruin a nice car like yours. https://bringatrailer.com/datsun/280z/ https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-datsun-280z-48/
  7. Delete all of that. What are you looking at? Page 132? Just go to page 20 of the EFEC chapter. 1982.

Here's an America story. A guy who thinks he might have COVID gets on a plane back to LA from Disney World, lies on the airline's COVID questionnaire about his symptoms, then dies on the flight. He either got it in Disney World or had it before he got there. This is why it's just not safe to travel. https://www.scarymommy.com/covid-19-death-flight/?utm_source=yahoo&utm_campaign=feed The plane, which was scheduled to fly from Orlando to Los Angeles, made an unscheduled landing in New Orleans after a man on the flight suffered a cardiac arrest. While first responders tended to the man, flight crew members overheard his wife telling the healthcare workers that her husband had been experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19. However, she and her husband had not disclosed the symptoms — which included the loss of taste and smell — prior to boarding the flight, according to the Times report.

These pictures just seem to follow properly. No offense to the English forum members. I'll try to find some rally pictures to balance things out.
  11. Hey, you bought Slimeydime's car! If you bought it for collecting/investing/future resale the best you could do would be to live on the BAT board and see what the collector's critique is on similar cars that come up for sale. One thing that stands out in the pictures is the lack of detailing in the engine bay. The paint on that car is so bright, and the interior so clean, that the brown valve cover and other parts really stands out. Not in a good way. The engine bay looks filthy. No offense to Slimeydime, he probably used it as a driver. One thing that really stands out a good way on your car is the rubber (bumper ends) and vinyl, and the dash. Those parts are typically destroyed by sun and age. Take extra care of those parts, they make the difference, you can't find replacements.

Virus variant. So, does the variation cause more spreading or does the spreading cause more variation? https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/19/uk/christmas-covid-strain-restrictions-intl-gbr/index.html "The spread is being driven by the new variant of the virus," Johnson said in a hastily called press conference. "It appears to spread more easily and may be up to 70% more transmissable than the earlier strain."
  14. Last thing - many of us have found that any Nissan key will operate the ignition on our Z's. They wear out fast and get loose. I could start my 76 with my 1995 Pathfinder key. So if you have some Nissan keys, or the guy selling the car does, give them a try.
  15. Here's some stuff on the steering lock. Can't remember exactly how it works but you will need this anyway if you don't have the key code. You'll need some tools to shave off the head of the tiny screw that holds the ignition cylinder on. If you have time though and the car still has the key code on the sticker inside the glove box (and the glove box is unlocked), you could take the code to a locksmith and have a key made. All they need is the key code. If you get it on the trailer this is a better way to get a key made anyway. One key should work on everything.
  16. This might help on the transmission.

They're starting to come around, barely. New rush hour rules. Their plan was that, supposedly, each individual would make the safe choice for everyone. Individual responsibility with concern for fellow citizens. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-55371102 Sweden's government is recommending wearing face masks on public transport during the rush hour, reversing its earlier Covid guidance. It will also cut from the current eight to four per table the number of people sitting together in restaurants, and ban alcohol sales after 20:00.
  18. I think that the WH found out that Europe is getting a better deal on the Pfizer vaccine. I'll bet that they're trying to get Pfizer to drop the price. They're not thinking about the people, only about the business. Florida has problems too. https://www.miamiherald.com/news/coronavirus/article247933225.html https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/dec/18/belgian-minister-accidentally-tweets-eus-covid-vaccine-price-list
  19. And be careful on the length of those housing bolts. At least one of them is right behind the timing chain guide. People have pushed the guide in to the chain with a bolt that was too long.

Here's another "maybe the scientists know what they're talking about" story. I wonder how this guy thought before he saw what happens first-hand. He's the manager, the guy that makes the rules and sets the tone for the team and staff. How did so many get infected at the same time? Young and super fit is no shield. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/dec/18/newcastle-manager-steve-bruce-shocked-by-effect-of-covid-on-players

I think that rich powerful people generally think of the "rest of us" as a herd. A work force to be managed. So a few of the herd get damaged or die, there's plenty more to take their place.
  22. The modified blue 76 didn't go at $20,000. Doesn't seem anything special about it. Modified to suit the owner's tastes. L28, 5 speed, clean, new dash, new paint. No magnet valves so not sure how the heater controls operate. Have to dig in to that, I thought they all used vacuum control (Edit - I guess non-AC cars did not use vacuum kocks. So this is a non-AC car). Wonder what the owner was holding out for. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1976-datsun-280z-41/?utm_source=dm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2020-12-18
  23. This guy, man, is he like a communications genius or just unaware? Who let this get posted? Is it on purpose? I don't know, just have to share.
  24. Probably pretty good collateral to borrow against. Buy some junk for $100 claim its value at $5000. Take out a loan. I wonder if these guys are really in the car selling business.
