  1. One issue might be having everyone's name out there on the internet. Maybe post the list without the names if that's an issue. Just so people know the cars exist.
  2. I wonder what "use" means in legal terms. I'm not suggesting that people share it if the originator does not want it shared. But those words kind of look like they were just put there to suggest ownership, with no professional legal mind behind them. What would the copyright cover? It's just a list of numbers and names.   3. People do odd things to try to solve odd issues. Sometimes based on a misunderstanding of how things work. If you're going to round-tops and live down south I'd do what siteunseen/Cliff said in reply your other posts. Those old pieces of heater hose will remain a mystery. According to your diagram it's even worse than the typical heater core bypass. What your diagram shows is taking hot coolant straight out of the thermostat, after it's traveled through the head collecting heat, just before it enters the radiator and running it back to the water pump with all of its heat. Might be that somebody just connected a bunch of loose hoses together so they wouldn't flop around in the back of the truck. Or maybe the engine is from the north and it's the equivalent of cardboard on the radiator.
  4. I remembered your other post and was connecting them, for other people to see. It's a common thing around various forums that multiple posts on essentially the same topic is "bad form". But you can do it if you want to. As opposed to bad form, good form is to supply pictures of what you're working on. In your case, a 5/8" hose connecting to your thermostat housing would be huge. Essentially like having a heater core hose connected there. It would be something interesting to see. And, for what it's worth, a thermostat would not normally be called a sensor. And, are you sure it's a thermostat? It might be a pressure relief valve. Maybe that was covered in your other thread, I didn't read the whole thing, I just pasted the link, for convenience. Whatever is going on there is unusual and might be an attempt to fix some other problem.
  5. Just a thought, while things are apart - many/several of us have found machining grit in our various aftermarket hydraulic parts. Slave cylinders and both type of master cylinder (clutch or brake), along with just bad seals from the start. You might disassemble that MC and see how the seals and bore look. It's pretty easy to do. There are three seals, two to create pressure and one to keep the fluid in the cylinder if the back pressure seal leaks. So you can have an internal leak - pressure loss, no obvious fluid leakage - without having an external leak - obvious fluid leakage. Or, of course, just to be safe, you could replace it if you got it locally. Even if you do that though, disassembling and cleaning before installation is a good idea. Or, 2nd, you could just reassemble and see what happens.

  8. Here's some examples. Looks like Nissan had their stamping act together by the late 70's. Make sure the upper rivets touche the top of the N and D, and don't overlook the little 1 (edit - I found one with a 6.   10. I think you guys are right. I also realized another simple one after staring at those pictures. 240Z's only have one strut holding up the hatch lid, 280Z's have two. Well, that was fun. Somebody put a lot of work in to turning a 240Z in to, essentially, a 280Z. This is a 78 with the raised deck. And a 75 just to top it off. The 240Z style caps on the 280Z tall strut towers.   13. I studied the rear shock towers too but couldn't form a definitive thought. You'd have to see two bare sets side by side I think. I pasted the other shot down below. Maybe someone has a similar view of either a 240Z or 280Z? @grannyknot ? I found one, at least, but he likes to shoot from distance. Pasted below, down to the shell resto 240Z. Can't tell it looks like the tower has a bow in it while the blue one doesn't. Don't know!. But wait (after I wrote a bunch of junk below) isn't the distance from the top of the wheel well to the top of the tower longer in the blue car? Is that it!? The definitive?!?!? I pasted two pics at the end... Thank you grannyknot (of course, it could be an illusion, from my fevered mind). Darn it, just realized I'm looking at the back of one and the front of another. More searching... You can get in to some really complex "why/how" loops. Yesterday (I'm obsessed) I was thinking about the brackets for the magnet valves. Did the 240Z's have those same brackets? If not, how did they mount the magnet valves? Where is the engine bay plate, with the car number and engine number? Why did somebody remove it? Both are gone, 240Z or 280Z. Who knows, maybe it is a 240Z with a lot of effort in to installing 280Z parts. 280Z doors, 280Z tach (with wire from the negative post and resistor to run it), engine, EFI system (with computer, assumed, plus fuel pump plus larger fuel return line because the 240Z return line is too small for an EFI pump volume). Why move the two fusible link blocks over? They were really helpful until I showed the firewall VIN location.

  18. Both pumping and bidding, or investing and collecting? Seems in the vein of "I paid a lot therefore everyone must pay a lot". Like the guys who jump on to the sales ads to make sure that nobody gets a good deal when somebody lists a car for a low price. Just something distasteful about it. But that's why I don't collect (invest) in old stuff.

If it's an investment then the round top change probably makes sense. It's a commercial item, you need to give the consumer what they want.
