  1. I'll start things off. Western Wheels (fake centerlines as far as I know). 14x7
  2. Approved by the powers that be, here is the offical thread for posting pictures of your wheels. Enough talk, lets see your wheels!
  3. My advice: Spray some sort of PB blaster or WD-40 on the nuts/bolts that require removal. Go back inside, you're done for the day. Wake up the next morning and try to remove your bolts. It'll make for a much easier start to your project.
  4. Well I got the alignment done as well my wheels balanced (which got rid of my steering wheel wobble at speed). There is still a bit of shake due to the rear right wheel being bent. Previous owner must have curbed it. Alignment before: Front -------- Caster +2.2 +3.0 Camber +0.2 -0.72 Toe +3/8 +5/32 Total Toe +17/32 Rear --------- Camber -1.08 -1.24 Toe -1/16 +5/32 Total Toe +3/32 Thrust angle -0.2 After alignment Front -------- Caster +2.2 +3.0 Camber +0.24 -0.72 Toe +1/16 +1/16 Total Toe +1/8 Rear -------- Camber -1.04 -1.28 Toe -1/16 +1/8 Total Toe +1/16 Thrust angle -0.20
  5. Good call. Appointment made.
  6. I replaced shocks & springs (tokico HP & eibach pro-kit) on all 4 corners as well as replaced the drivers side tie rod. I didn't replace any bushings even though they badly need it (next project when I've got time). The car drives straight on the highway. Should I bother with getting an alignment?
  7. Put some gas in the float and got it running. Fuel pump started to pull fuel in and could see it in the filter. All is good.
  8. Also, the new tank is from a '71 so it doesn't have the electric fuel pump.
  9. Tank was just boiled and coated. Had it running for a while already and drove it around to about 15 minutes until I ran out of gas.
  10. 1973 240z Ran out of gas on the way to a gas station. Put gas in but car won't start. Fuel filter looks totally empty.
  11. The blower fan was not working which needed to be fixed for safety. The original owner said, "it was working before I parked it for winter." After troubleshooting the controls, wiring and motor itself, I found out that the whole assembly had no power going to it. There was one stray wire that was loose which ended up being what powered everything else. There was no possible other connection to connect it to get power so it obviously was not working while this guy owned it. After some rewiring to get power, got it all working. HOOOOORAY! Next task was getting the rear defrost to work. Again after troubleshooting just about everything, we ended up determining that the switch was faulty. The contacts inside the switch were corroded which didn't allow the switch to complete the connection. A simple cleaning of the contacts fixed the issue. Again, HORRAY!!!!! Ran out of time so I didn't get around to checking the choke & fasten seatbelt lights.... besides finding out that the bulbs were dead >
  12. Sorry to hear about your troubles. The gland nut is about 3/4 inch into the strut tube. To be honest, I used a flat head screwdriver and a hammer to unscrew it.
  13. Picked up my finished gas tank. I had it cleaned out with an acid, a few small holes repaired and then a coating on the inside. Also had it painted with a type of undercoat for further protection. This thing will probably outlive the car.
  14. I'm putting in a restored gas tank so I've currently got the existing one out of the car. What should I be looking to replace/repair while the tank is out? There is the dreaded smell of fuel if filling the tank more than 1/2 full. Is that something that can be addressed now? Any suggestions are welcome.
  15. Adjusted the rear brakes. Bled the brakes. Installed rear sway bar. Removed the fuel tank. Changed the oil. Broke one gas tank strap and painted the other. (anyone have an extra for a 240z?)
  16. '73 240z. New to Datsuns. I've got a few lights which are not working: heater controls, choke/seatbelt/fog. Tested the lights with a battery, they work. 1st image - shows unknown yellow power and black ground disconnected which is part of a group of wires running to this gold box under the glovebox. Accessory relay? The other end of these wires follows through to the choke/seat/fog panel. I put power to the yellow and I could hear a tick sound but still no lights to the panel. 2nd image - lights for the heater controls with the ground. These also don't light up. Connected to the accessory relay as well? How can you tell if a relay is faulty? Initially I had a problem with the heater blower which turned out to be no power going to it. There is a loose connection for the power with no female end in sight. Still hunting down the other end or I'll have to splice into another power source. (I would search more but it's 2am and I'm sleeeeepy)

That's it kids... Back to Winnipeg! I live in Winnipeg and I've got a '73 240z like yourself. I know of one other in the city but that's it. I'm positive there are more but they must be hiding.

Actually it's all interesting information ozconnection. I'll be following your other thread as well
  19. Yes, I was referring to a '73 (forgot to mention that). I've got spare heater controls & and spare blower motors which I can use for testing purposes. Thanks for the info! Time to pull out my multimeter.
  20. Forgive my green question as I'm relatively new to Datsuns. Heater blower and choke/seat belt/defrost lights don't work. Are these on the same fuse? All fuses look intact. Are these issues potentially linked in any way? Could it be a fusible link that's melted? I may be stretching on this one.

It's one of those things where I've got the extra headers and should I bother installing them over my stock configuration. If there is little to no performance gain, it's something that can wait and I can add to my winter to do list.

Would this be a large improvement over the stock headers?

I know I'm not giving much info here on sizing or anything but maybe it's something that can be id'd just by a picture.
